Nice build but why not just buy a slide in camper?
@prospectoverlandКүн бұрын
Thanks. Way heavier. Way more $$$. Loose the truck tail gate. Unable to make it “my own”. I like doing all this stuff and a slide in is already done, nothing to make unique for my vehicle.

31:25 you have a link for These switches? The one i have has light 24/7 😒
@prospectoverland4 күн бұрын
The link for it is the description. It’s possible yours is able to be wired like mine. Mine had four wires off the back and I could do light always, light only when button is pushed, or never light up at all depending on which wire I have positive wire to.

Now your stuff. Must. Fit in your build- wheras I have different sized storage containers,in different places- just want people to think about it,and use it.- B4 building. If it works for u, great. It's all I could do,also, to have the dogs bed,a chair, and the heater. I'll velcro my containers to the shelves, a sink would take up space also- that's in a 8 ft bed. 😊 everyone do what you want. All good.

That looks amazing but how far over payload capacity are you now? I have a Tundra with a GFC pop up camper and only the lightest camping items and it is right at the payload with passengers and dog included.

Oh I’m way over. Was over before this buildout. With full skid plates and steel bumpers, spare water and fuel etc. but I’ve don’t the upgrades to handle it. Massive big brake kit, re geared, Suspension etc. I was 8600 before so I bet I’m 9k lbs now.

Awesome write up and excellent craftsmanship! I'm glad you made this video after seeing your post on FB. It costed me around the same amount to customize my build out with the 8020, wood, hardware etc.. The spare tire water tank was a great idea. If I had known about that, I probably wouldve done the same to maximize the storage space below and keep the weight of the vehicle more centered! Great job man!
@prospectoverland11 күн бұрын
Thanks for checking it out and you have a first hand appreciation for building something along these lines. I had been looking at a million different shape tanks and sizes to fit on the inside then i came across this spare tire tank and instantly knew this was the winning ticket. They had just released this 14 gallon because they had previously had a 6 gallon for a while. Thanks for watch.

40 hours to build is nothing compared to the 100's of hours you must have put into planning it all out. Great job! I have a loaded up FWC (about 10 years now). Project M didn't exist when I bought mine. It will be interesting to see what your final build weighs in it at. You will get a ton of use out of your outside pressurized water line. We use ours more than the sink. I hope you built it up high enough to fill bottles, pots etc. I like how you aren't afraid to drill holes in your truck. Screw keeping it stock for the next guy and not getting the value out of it yourself. I look forward to the final build. Four Wheel Campers might be cannibalizing the sales of their loaded up units when people get a look at your quality DIY build. The extruded aluminum is awesome. Easy for you to make changes to down the road if you need to as well.

Haha so true, couldn’t even begin to calculate all the Google and Amazon searching for parts and pieces, Scrolling through the 80/20 websites etc. I’m going to weigh it and get a new rear leaf pack built in January. It was 8600 lb before the buildout full loaded for a week long trip. I expect it to be around 9k now. I do end up doing most of my dishes and cooking all outside. I have a hose I attach and take it around the corner so I don’t make mud at the tailgate 👍. Thanks for watching

Sure seems like it would’ve been easier to attach that flooring material to the wood before you started building the shelving system. One big sheet you could’ve just rolled on and then flipped it over and cut the edges. Looks good though.
@prospectoverland11 күн бұрын
Agreed, would have been easier, but I wanted the aluminum frame sitting flush with the raw wood surface verse spanning between the high points of each coin bump on the flooring and leaving air gaps for dirt to get under the aluminum. Thanks for watching
