I’ve question. How old are you at the start of your commercial diver career?
@rannarlaur2 жыл бұрын
Heh, thats a tricky answer. I went to study to Norway when I was 33 years old (in 2018). But I started diving and also work in diving in 2006 and I was 21 years old back then ;)

@@rannarlaur ok. If I'm going to make the same school education im already 33 years old and I'm worried to be to old to start at this job

@@Apfelaktuell There were guys starting at the school being 50 years old. So, your age is just a number. More important is, what have you done in your life so far? What is your real-life experience and can you convert it to diving or working underwater?

You truly have to make more videos like this one. Absolutely amazing. Because I’m from Germany and my dream is to be a commercial diver to. Videos like this open a world for me I couldn’t be in at this time and give me some little glimpse of what I’ve to learn if I’m going to a diving school. If you make more like this I would like to thank you so much. Maybe it’s the best job of the world.

This is a very dangerous job. Some men were sucked into a pipeline and perished in Trinidad. The company in charge did not rescue. Aside from the fact that everything in that country is substandard, it’s still a very risky job. Be safe guys.

The lowered framerate looks bad from a purely technical view due to you not having access to the original high framerate footage- but as an aesthetic choice I'm not sure why they didn't do it. It really *suits* the space like low gravity environment.
@merlinsmagic85532 жыл бұрын
I like the fact that you cut the section where Adam taps Kevin to wake him. What makes Adam so special lol. The echos could be a bit much. Love the slowing down of frames
@rannarlaur2 жыл бұрын
About the echos... I deliberately made them over the top to create a different environment than we are used to. Because if they were in space type environment then it would be a vacuum and we wouldn't hear anything (sound does not travel in a vacuum and that film would have been a silent movie). Being a diver I have plenty of experience with sound underwater (water is a lot denser than air and therefore sound travels underwater 4 times faster than on land and that alone makes it really hard to track down where the sound is coming from. Also deeper than 40 m I have experienced sound coming to me with slight echoes, so...) That is why I made the sound effects as I did, to try to give the impression of a totally different environment so that we wouldn't know which gas is surrounding them and how big is the overall pressure on their bodies ;)

@Edbrad2 жыл бұрын
But why did you lower the frame rate so much?
@rannarlaur2 жыл бұрын
From the esthetic point of view. Looking at the original clip I can tell that they are on Earth or on an Earth-like planet (because of their fast movements and how the equipment was moving on their bodies). I understand that in a vacuum they wouldn't have any resistance moving around, but it was uncertain which environment was actually around them. And because I am a diver and I have been filming underwater a lot, then it seemed a lot better, if they were moving slower. Yes, even underwater you can't feel the equipment that much (although you will feel the resistance of the water), but moving around in the big equipment you would be a bit more clumsy =)
