I had 2 Freaking Nintendo DS Phat Consoles. one of them was a dark blue one where i accidentally dropped it and broke the hinge and the ribbon cables snapped. after some days my dad bought a light blue ds phat. i enjoyed it. after some couple months. i traded it for a original nintendo 3ds. trading the ds phat and a super mario bros game & watch

The same thing happened when I replaced my screen, but all you have to do is just wait and the flickering will disappear… that’s how it fixed the flickering for me

I've had like 4 3DSes over the course of a decade: og xl whose hinge broke, n3ds where the bottom screen just stopped responding to touch, n2dsxl where I got cleaning product under the top screen that started to loosen it off, and an og 2ds that I only got last month and am treating with the gentlest touch possible

I've had experiences with needing to repair DS systems in the past. I had this DS lite that could turn on but only for a split second before it went black again. I thought "it needs a new battery!" I ordered a new battery and put it in the DS lite. It still did not work. I even used a brand new charger on it to make sure it was not out of power. The conclusion I came to is that there was some part that connects the charging port to the battery, or maybe there was a problem with the charging port itself. Either way I stopped trying because pfft I'm not a licensed surgeon.

Honest tech repair shop employee here. Yeah, it's common place for shady repair shops to take in old consoles to "fix" them, only to replace the "original from the manufacturer" parts with either bootleg Chinese replacements that are inferior or old parts they had laying around that won't sell. Then, they take your parts, fix consoles for "higher tier members" (most usually people they want a favor from) or use them to repair their own consoles and sell them as "brand new original" consoles on eBay for a lot of money. I've been sent countless of consoles that have been sent to other repair shops (sometimes even the repair shop itself has sent them to me). Shoddy soldering, bootleg fixes, hot glue repairs etc. Why? Because the shop they went to offered a really low price and they got screwed. Then they come to me, they hear the proper price and pay angrily. This is especially true with teens. They break their consoles, they watch some repair video, they buy the replacements they think will work without any knowledge or research done, they break it even more and then they come to me with the console and the parts acting like it broke itself and to offer them a cheap price because they got the parts for me (which like I said before won't work). Note to others, I don't care if you broke it or it broke itself, the charge won't change. What is broken is broken. If you want to save money and are handy, do some research, go on reddit and ask questions and then pull the trigger. If not, ask someone that is into tech repairs. Don't go blindly to a tech shop.
