Thanks for all this useful info! Any suggestions for best product to use for a long separation along the front edge with a chip (top and edge are separated). Thanks!
@KitchensbySavina
@KitchensbySavina 29 күн бұрын
For the separation at the front edge I would do the following: 1. make sure you clean out between the two so that when you push or hold the top down to the front edge it close tight. 2. use some white or yellow carpenters glue squeezed in the between the two. 3. Either us a board held right at the edge and clamp to hold the glue till it dries or use masking tape in several spot and pull the tape to hold the pieces tightly together until dry. 4. Any excess glue can be scrapped off and cleaned up with water. As for the chips, use one of the methods shown in this video. I hope this guidance helps you.

Normally with contact cement. However if you can fit the piece nicely, you can use white or yellow glue as long as you can secure it flat and tight with clamps, or tape.

I absolutely do not think Bondo was the right call right next to the stove. Away would be totally fine but it’s next to a high heat source as your cookie tray so showed. Bondo is flammable and heat can cause the particles in it to expand and explode. The right filler is woodfill or something like a fill stick which is like clay that can be moulded. Both being listed as non flammable and less likely to cause a fire and definitely no explosions. If I were you, I’d sand it right on back down, fill it with the right material just so it meets safety and you don’t randomly have it explode your counter top and cabinet while baking.

Fantastic video, and you know how to do one properly, showing the type of materials you use, and where you can get them, and what brand names they have. I have a burn mark in a nice kitchen countertop I'd like to fix. This gives me lots of ideas, and the last method with the wood filler looks easiest ? I also have some stain and scratch marks on some nice hardwood floors, and maybe you have a video on this as well. I'll have to check your videos. Again - great video. Do you have one on hardwood floors ? I know a lot of people use what they call "hard wax" but how durable is it ?? as it's just wax -- isn't it ?? or is it very hard when cured or dried ??

This is the best video on adjustments! The only issue I'm having with adjustments is when the door isn't as close to the frame as it should be and the screw adjustment is as tight as it can be so no way to make any further adjustments. I plan on getting replacement hinges.
@KitchensbySavina
@KitchensbySavina 6 ай бұрын
Glad the video helped. Make sure you are using either a Pozidrive or Phillips tip on your driver, whichever is the correct one. Normally if your door was correctly adjusted when new it should be able to adjust back to that. Without seeing it, hard to guess, but perhaps a new hinge will correct. Good luck or contact me if you are unsuccessful at [email protected] and I will try to help further.

Yes, I have both types of driver tips. Two years ago we had all of our cabinets painted and the doors were removed. I'm not sure if that caused some of the issues or not. When we bought this place I had to make adjustments to a lot of the doors and drawers. I bought new runners for a few drawers as well. I just ordered two sets of hinges and a set of runners.

Thank you for your video. It was more thorough in describing how a drawer works than others. I am inquiring about that piston mechanism. Can it be adjusted? My problem is with a torn rotator cuff in a brand new condo the drawers are so stiff to open that it has made my symptoms worse. 2/18/2024
@KitchensbySavina
@KitchensbySavina 7 ай бұрын
The pistons I have seen are not adjustable. I have had similar injuries to yours. Perhaps try a different body position when opening so you don't put so much stress on the injury portion. If it is a big problem for you, the drawer track can be changed to and older style which just rolls close with gravity. Here is a link to the type. www.amazon.com/Franklin-Brass-D68822K-W-B-Self-Closing-10-Pack/dp/B0BH9GGF8F/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=self%2Bclosing%2Bdrawer%2Bslides&sr=8-10&th=1

I can't find Rapid Pad. Is there another similar product I can find at Ace or Lowes? I don't need a quart, since I'm fixing only 1/2" spot where color rubbed off when a screw underneath was over-tightened.

Rapid pad is formulated for French polishing on a shellac finish. I you are using it with powdered stains than I think a substitute may be clear shellac. Shellac may be reduced (thinned) with rubbing alcohol. All of these products a flammable so please read instructions/warnings and use with suitable ventilation and caution. www.mohawk-finishing.com/products/wood-touch-up-repair/padding/rapid-pad-padding-finish/

That finale was not even close bud. No offense but omg.. oh nevermind you cleaned off that part you apilled or whatever. Hahaha i thought that was the repair. That was your color pallet for mixing paint on the counter. I see. It looks funny still. Just sand and bondo then prime and paint then epoxy them very thin and you will be much happier. Promise. Also if you have metal sink take it out when doing the countertops and sand with 600 grit lightly then 1000 grit medium heavy then buff it with a 2000 grit heavy with water and finally get into the liquid sanding and use a rubbing compound (3000) and then a polish (4000) for the beat finiah you can get on a metal sink. The two polishes sgould be applied with a drill attachment and it is a foam type buffing circle pad that is sold at auto stores or harbor freight or Amazon for like $10 bucks and comes with a few pieces. Use medium speed with 3k compound and then fast real quick then medium with 4k polish and then fast real quick with a once over but be thorough. You can then wipe it down with a big clean towel and you will be amazed. Use a good adhesive to glue in sink to countertop like a loctite construction adhesive but not too good because you may have to remove it eventually and you dont want to bend that sink if it is metal when removing it. I suggest either the lowest grade loctire adhesive waterbased with some elsticity or a liquid nails projects which is a water based lower grade construction adhesive. Even a decent caulking would work but if you dont have a lot of clamps on bottom of sink that attaches to countertop or the countertop is fiberous and swelling and coming apart just use a really good adhesive because otherwise you run the risk of it breaking apart more when the seal lets in water into the crack between sink and countertop and if you do that you will start a whirlwind of issues later on. Jusge it yourself and be careful.
