You did not address primal therapy, which surprises me. I went to the Primal institute in LA for around 18 months, moving from Australia, where the exchange rate was very unfavourable to me, till I got a job of course, which was an instant assimilation into the economy. My two choices, following 5 nervous breakdowns, were to buy a sizable house, or spend it on therapy. So, no contest, a miserable man in a beautiful house was not a choice for me, really. I went to Vivian Janov's institute, thankfully I believe, as all the folk from Arthur Janov's institute seemed to be resolving their past lives. Which I believe is hooey. What ever epigenetic hangovers I might have had were not at the front of my mind, and I wished for some relief from my collective neurosis, and not to resolve the difficulties of an Egyptian ruler from 3500 years ago. (they were always somebody very noteworthy and powerful, such as a Pharaoh, and never a commoner) The odds of thousands of people being a historical figurehead simultaneously seemed, and remains, ridiculous to me. I was only able to tolerate LA for 18 months, and then returned to Australia. I have only been able to have a primal alone on perhaps 3 occasions, each of which resolved many issues at the time. Sadly, I am no longer in a position to repeat the exercise, due to damaged hip joints and back injuries, and cannot afford it on my pension.

I have been to codependency treatment at the Meadows in AZ years ago after many years in AA. Best thing I’ve done - they do get down to the anger and work through childhood trauma. But, like anything else very expensive. 😢

I moved from the UK to the USA around 9 years ago to try and give myself a better life, I am so worse of here then I was in the UK. I haven’t seen my family in 9yrs and everytime I save up to go and visit them I’m having to constantly dip into to pay bills etc. I’m constantly working for nothing, I seriously can’t comprehend how many hours people work here it’s crazy. Talk about feeling depressed, I’ve also changed my diet as the food here makes you lethargic, tired, depressed, feeling sick.

Smh they think ppl at 30 % bf don’t workout or eat their protein and veggies. I’m already doing all those things. I workout 6 days a week too strength train 5 days a week. Yes I’ve done 2 of mp programs that were only 3 days a week. So I’ve tried that way of working out too. I’m stuck at what looks like 30% bf. Female here anyways I’m going to just eat even more protein and more healthy and whatever happens happens I’m not going to rush it anymore by restricting a lot of cals.

I don't feel bad at all about not drinking. Infact when I'm out with friends or anyone for that matter, everything revolves around alcohol. They will say to me oh man that's cool that you don't drink I should really not drink as much. Almost everyone tells me a similar thing. It's like a guilty indulgence. I never care what people do I just feel good like Alan does.

I don't hear a voice to converse with. I hear all that went wrong but what are the 3 tips for an adult who feels so lost, stressed and anxious? Gabor says it may take any number of things...really? And none are covered on my insurance. It's exhausting listening to hours of these videos, most contradict each other Gabor says "talk to that child" the next guy says "don't use language" but feelings... Hearing what got me here over and over doesn't fix the problems of feeling lost. No wonder this has so low likes...its like 1 in 50. Bait and switch

I love that he said it's a journey and not to give up! I've been dealing with I believe hyperinsulinemia forever, and sick of extreme diets, I just want a lifestyle that I can follow, and be patient with the process. Very good information, I know late post, but I wanted to add to it.. I bought this book, plan to read it all in the next couple weeks. 🙏🏽💜

What is also horrible is the cost of therapy, insurance dictates who one goes to, zero experience of therapists with trauma even if the website states they work with trauma. We all need God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I am trying to get help for my daughter who was extremely abused by an ex boyfriend and his family. It has been horrifying, the system, the lack of knowledge by all. Im doing the major work and study constantly and have been going through the trauma too so i do know how to articulate and do translate to any therapist willing to try because they dont understand what is going on or how to help. Most people in this ecomomy cant pay out of pocket and it has taken 2 years to find someone who does not have any trauma experience but who is willing to try and help.

As a physician who was bullied then mobbed early on I started seeing my talk therapy psychoanalyst psychiatrist 3 times a week to accomplish whatever the organization needed of me as I loved my job. Well I still ended up getting mobbed isolated and terminated and she then was rather traumatizing even saying she hasn’t heard me take accountability and imho counter projections. She was often unfamiliar with terminology and I now feel she contributed to the trauma and really only focused on appointments and scheduling. 2.5 years with a trauma informed therapist only to have severe workplace induced cptsd

Martin Luther King Jr also said that we should not be well-adjusted to the injustices of the world - racism, militarism, corporate capitalism, imperialism, and the virus that has infected ALL of the Western world - narcissism, individualism and materialism - ALL of which are subtly or overtly, as in the case of the latter, promoted throughout psychology and psychiatry which rarely consider the collective or Nature and hence it's everyone for them self.

The idea that if someone is trained in trauma therapy that they can do trauma therapy is pretty stupid if you know anything about training or courses or university, what you know is what you learn. There is pretty bloody useless when you get out into the real world. It’s not training that matters, it’s knowing how to do it, and those two things are not the same. I work with complex trauma, attachment, theory and Jungian analytical psychology. Treating complex trauma is not particularly difficult, but you have to address the trauma directly, by talking about it, mental about it, walking round and round it, and seeing it from every angle that is the essential basis of treating complex trauma. It needs empathy, curiosity, and skill. None of these come out of training. I think Dr Mate is one of the best voices on these matters. But the problem is not really training. The problem is the most psychotherapist and counsellors are very very mediocre, and it would not matter how much training they had. They just do not have the flare or personality to do the job properly.
