Tiger Prawns!!! Amazing markdown find. I went to two different stores today (Christmas Eve) hoping that since the stores would be closed on Christmas Day there would be some good markdowns. No luck. Both stores were packed full of shoppers and there was absolutely nothing on markdown. Good for the profit margins of the stores but not so good for me. Oh well, I can always enjoy the great video of your markdown success. I love seeing the difference and similarities of groceries in Australia and the US. Finding and subscribing to your channel has been one of the highlights of KZbin for me in 2024. Happy Holidays to you all.

Hi! 😊 Which is cheaper in general? Coles or Aldi? thanks!!
@LifeWithMeAustralia

Hi 😊 Hmm thats a tricky question to answer because it depends on what's on special as sometimes coles have items for half price depending on the week. On the other hand Aldi has cheaper cleaning products etc. Sometimes coles offer good reward points as well. Although I find local green grocery stores are often cheaper when it comes to fresh fruit and veg. Hope that helps 🙂

The Govt has issued a survey which finds Aldi is 30 percent cheaper than either coles or woolworths, I shop at Aldi for the basics and I do find them a lot cheaper as well. But Aldi does not have the variety like you will find elsewhere.

Hello lovely, Costco looks amazing, I have never been there as I am not near one. But for those with their own transportation it would be well worth it. I have been shopping at Coles and got their $50 off deal. So am happy anyway. Hope you are both doing wonderfully and look forward to your next one,thanks💜🦋💙😄😁

I really enjoyed your Costco video. I was in my Costco here in Colorado this afternoon. It's funny how many things are the same , especially the Kirkland (Costco) brand. One big difference is your huge seafood selection. Colorado is about 800 miles ( or 1287 kilometers ) from the ocean so we don't get a lot of seafood. We have the salmon and lobster tails and the prepared prawn trays that you showed. But we never see whole fish of any sort at Costco. And is that shellfish really called "Bugs?" I could just imagine the question: What's for dinner? Answer: Bugs. I thought I would die laughing! Thanks for another great video.

The timing of when this video was uploaded worked out great for me. It is 10 p.m. Sunday here in Colorado ( 4 p.m. Monday Sydney ) and since it's almost bedtime I was able to enjoy your great shopping and cooking without getting SO hungry! Although if it was earlier I would be drooling over that shrimp (prawn) meal.

In a previous video, and again in this one, I saw the bitter melon which I had never seen before. After you were kind enough to answer a question about it I have been searching for it locally here in Colorado. I finally found it at a small Asian market. Was quite expensive at $3.99 per pound USD or approximately $6.24 AU per pound or about $13 per kilo AU. But I determined to try it despite the high price. I stir fried some of it and scrambled the rest, but it seems it must be an acquired taste. In a way condisidering the price I'm a little glad I didn't like it. But thank you for introducing it to me.

Best deal I came accross was at woolies , it was 20 minutes before closing and there was one roast chicken that was offered for free. Looks like that night even the staff couldn’t be bothered taking that one. Coles no longer marks down bread before closing I think they must have some arrangement with local food donation groups, likewise bakers delight they would rather throw away or donate excess bread than devalue thier product and set the expectation for vultures to come by before closing. Also marking down products is also an indication that you are not managing your inventory efficiently. It’s best to set the right price and make the right amount that gives you the best return/profit.

It's a shame about the bread markdowns, hopefully they don't throw them out and are at least donating it. The free chicken was a nice score! 🙂

Your budgeting system is inspiring. I think the act of physically dividing up your money into predetermined categories would reinforce good habits. I have tried doing something similar but online rather than with physical money. And quite frankly, I just couldn't maintain it. I had the intention but over time the decimals on a screen just didn't motivate me. I am determined to try your simple method using actual money. So thank you for this inspiring video. By the way: As an American I am blown away at how colorful your Australian money is. All of our money is the same boring green color. And this is the first time I've ever seen money with clear see through security sections.

Thank you Greg 😁 yes I find when I use physical cash instead of card for certain categories it's easier for me to hold myself accountable and stay within budget. Certain things like insurance I pay digitally but I find using physical cash for groceries has helped me alot. 😊
