Quick question: I have never seen bitter melon here in Colorado. Can you describe what it tastes like, or maybe compare it to something? We do have bitter melon extract pills available which some people use as a supplement.

Hmm I would describe the flavour of the bitter melon as only mildly bitter (although sometimes it can be very bitter). To me it's quite a fleshy vegetable so I'd describe it as a mildly bitter Zucchini (in my opinion). I also tend to cut it really thin and scramble it with eggs, tomatoes and onions. So the bitterness from the bittermelon isn't very strong.
