Forgets to tell you that by the time a pump has failed it might well have 15 years of accumulated limescale etc. around the isolating valves which make it difficult to tell whether the valves have been fully switched off. So when you loosen the nuts on the pump you can end up with a flood ! So consider draining the system so that the water level in the system is below the pump (doesn't need to be fully drained) - alternatively apply some real welly when turning off the isolating valves, and hopefully don't break them!

It's always the things that take 5 seconds in diy videos that take me hours and stop the job! (1) Couldn't get the screws out of the cistern, they just turned and turned but didn't come up. Ended up just pulling up hard. (2) Can't disconnect the water pipe. You say "use your grips to hold this bit and then turn that bit" but I can't work out which bits they are and I don't possess grips and have the world's worst adjustable wrench. None of my spanners match the size of any of the bolts. It's so frustrating. Been at it for 4 hours, cistern still attached to water supply pipe. Giving up and buying some grips tomorrow. Hopefully they resolve the issue!

(3) 3 days later... disconnected the water pipe. Our toilet has sides underneath (unlike those in most videos) - the bit I needed to unscrew was a bit I couldn't even see. After I'd dragged it away from the wall a bit more I was able to move things more and the previously hidden bit came into view - took 30 seconds to unscrew and didn't even need the new grips and new wrench I'd been out and bought! (4) ... but even then I couldn't take the toilet out!! My soil pipe does not just come away from the toilet, it's got a jubilee clip tightly securing it. There is NO gap between the clip and the pipe so I can't cut it off. There is a screw on the jubilee clip but it is pointing down at the ground and I don't own a short enough flathead screwdriver to undo it, so that's the latest thing I've bought. When that's delivered tonight I will hopefully be able to loosen the jubilee clip and separate the toilet from the soil pipe. It's Friday night. I started this last Saturday.

I've got two like this, but older. The dual flush just doesn't work; the rubber washer just drops down and covers the syphon relief holes whether you hold the flush down or not.

Fixed my curtain rods with M5x52 Molly using 3/8 drill bit hole. If useful, the M5x52 is the right length for 1/2 inch drywall (standard thickness in Canada and US). But you may need a step drill bit to widen the screw hole on the fixture to accommodate the M5. Also, You will clearly need the setting tool if you want to install it on an insulated exterior wall, the insulation want to push the Molly out.

Fantastic video! I just have a quick question. My toilet is basically exactly the same as this, even the filling mechanism is exactly the same. I've just replaced the toilet siphon so it finally flushes, but that little blue part of the filling mechanism (the part where the water comes out to fill the cistern) keeps dripping a single drop of water every like 10 seconds after refilling the tank. I admit the filling mechanism got jostled about a bit during the syphon installation. What could be causing this? will the filling mechanism need replacing? Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the video just a quick question, all my radiators are on number 5, which I’ve been told corresponds to 28 degrees. However I only ever put my heating up to 22 at a maximum on my HIVE. Does this mean that I may as well lower the number on my thermostat and would it save money or not make a difference? Thanks

Do you need to isolate the water supply to the pump? I see valves either side bit is that for when you replace the pump itself?
@eugenomeАй бұрын
I have done this before to unfree pumps. Sometimes even tapping a pump with a mallet or handle of a mallet works (don't hit it with a hammer!). Unfortunately I can't do it this time because the plumbers have faced the pump inwards towards the boiler. I suspect the start/run capacitor may be at fault though. Anyway a useful video. 👍

Hi, can give advice on FD fault code on this boiler? Not hot water or heating, radiator checked and bled system full, it's f and e. Pump checked, it's rotating, all connection to water flow sensor ok. Could this be water glow sensor or pump? The pump was rotating.
