i struggled with the issues of settings but i have managed to figure it out. im using lightburn 1.6 just for reference. in rotary set up: choose roller enable rotary mirror output to rotary ( you could mirror the image as you go but this saves the potential mistake later on not doing so) on y axis: set mm per rotation to 56.52mm set roller diameter to 18mm you dont have to input object diameter, only needed for chuck rotary. physically measure and make sure your image will fit within the surface space provided. tried settings following the video and had the issue of stretching. using the above settings fixed that for me. hopefully a help for someone else searching endlessly.

Same concept, but I use a sheet of construction paper held down to the honeycomb with little magnets. Then I just throw it away and use a new sheet next time.

So when buying a piece of wood, just measure it and add the dimensions to the software to make sure the image fits ?

Hey, hi, I do like your videos. I have a question: What settings do you use to cut through wood because I'm having trouble? I'm going through like 11 passes.. I have a text to d121 laser, or maybe you have a video to explain the settings if you don't mind helping me

How do you actually align the laser in the centre of the design, on the square? You have positioned the square on the right on your table, but in Lightburn the design is on the left?

You have to set the home position on the laser, I was thinking about doing a video on that

Does it make a difference whether you're on the chuck or roller? Cause looking at your screen, your Chuck is checked off. As the chuck to, is there an issue? Or does it matter?
@ainttakenanyshit4 ай бұрын
@@silverstarr354 YEA, what he said. I was waiting for your brain to get smart and check the "ROLLER" box in the rotary setup screen.... I don't know what each type rotary selection is/does, but, they-Lightburn provided the option and LB should/does know what they are doing...

For those who have family with plotters (ie vinyl cutters), don't forget that their software will usually have a very good and easy trace system. Sure Cuts a lot, Silhouette Studio Business edition can both output to SVG. Inkscape is free, then there is Gimp and a multitude of other apps for the iPad, like Affinity . There are also pattern generators like Amaziograph...Lots of options.

Just started lazing a few weeks ago with a Sculpfun S30 Pro- the 10 watt with the 900x900mm extension kit. Built a cardboard enclosure and I'm glad I did first instead, it's really quick and easy to customize. One thing I've learned is that most of the smoke comes from under the work- what I'm going to be doing soon as an experiment is building a second air extractor on the underside- beneith the Honeycomb bed I'm going to be drilling a bunch of about 1-2 inch holes 6-12 inches apart in a grid then make it so I can open/close different holes. A second air axtractor will pull air out from under the work. The reason for the blockable holes is so that I can extract air from directly under and only where my work is in order to pull most of the smoke from below which I think should minimizing smoke stains on both sides of the work. Also going to have it setup so waste can be swept into the holes and vacuumed out of the hollow area underneath so it should make cleanup/maintenance easier. Not sure if that makes sense- it's an experiment that I've not seen before
@Laser.1017 ай бұрын
I like the idea. I was also thinking about cutting out the work bench below the honeycomb and extracting air downwards.

I see you placed your metal backer rite up against your honeycomb. You will want a small gap for gasses to escape below the comb . trapped wood gas between backing plate and inside the cells of the honeycomb will pop in tiny explosions that can move parts of your work. i put adhesive rubber feet in the corners of mine keeping 2 mm between metal sheet and honeycomb. Air assist is amazing . it keep your lens clean and turns scorching and charring into deep clean engraving and cuts.

Honeycomb works so well because it is vertical. Other things, even cookie cooling grids, have angled surfaces that can reflect the laser back up to the underside of your project. At least when they're still clean!

Now I'm waiting for my switches, which I believe are having to come out of China, and they are taking a while (as of this comment, I ordered on 13 Dec and they still haven't shipped) to get to me!
