Before the thruster can be used there must be an adequate supply of water. A simply city tap for water will never produce this result. This is a cute demonstration. You did, however, omit significant amounts of valuable information. Bad form.

I would imagine they are using the sea water intake then diverting it to the hot tub not sure why you have feelings on it

Looks like a good quality product, which it is of course. Attention has been devoted to everything of importance, gate valves close to the hull units, those pipe clips are of the best quality I have ever seen. It is amazing how much momentum a two inch diameter hose pipe can generate. Here is a question for the science or physics minded people. Would the thrust generated alter if the output nozzles were above or below the waterline? Above the waterline the jet exhausts in air surroundings while below the waterline it exhausts in water surroundings. The answers to this question should be interesting.

Hi Carmel, the answer is a surprise to many people: More force/momentum/impulse is generated when expelling water above the waterline. Not much but a bit more. When generating thrust with a water jet, it's all about the flow and speed of the water which exit the nozzle. Turbulence near nozzle opening below the water line slows it down, above the waterline a few percent more thrust occurs. Our systems are designed to function below the water line. We recommend to place the nozzles max forward in the hull for a maximum arm of momentum towards the pivoting point of the boat.

how come there are not any forward facing thrusters to reverse out of your slip and to stop when coming into your slip. make it much handier.. i would really want some kind of ball valve also on the pump inlet.. or a slide valve.. so i could shut off water into the inlet also. like every other seacock should have. easy to build a rotating disc valve.. less chance of it clogging.

Would've liked to see a step-by-step explanation of what's happening, like the How It's Made series. As it currently stands, I didn't learn as much as I had hoped.

I needed a small water pump for my septic tank, so I can pump it out when it was filled up, and with no knowledge I went to hardware store and picked up mini BALDOR 250w 220v well surface pump (the one where you prime it, one end of the hose goes into the water, and trough the other end the water shoot out) and That pump is like 8inch by 8inch by 5inch and only 250w and it is sucking solid **** from the bottom of the tank, the impeller that is the size pf a mason jar lid mashes the solids and spits them out like no load at all. . . when my friend plumber came to see my setup he was looking like O_o - "You have to use at least 5 times larger pump for good perfromance" He said the pump as small as this will clog and will not suck up solids, so I demonstrated it to him and he was so amased on how that little pump is powerful. . . The openings for sucking and sending out the water are 1' holes and the whip of the hose is 1' also and it is sucking like crazy! It must be a very high quality impeller, because I don't think cheaper pump would have sucked water that is basicly a solid jello and rotten **** from the bottom of the tank with no trouble at all!

wow.. neat.. you need more nozzles.. 2 for the bow for reverse thrust .. 2 for the transom for forward thrust. then and adjustable volume output.. find an electric start diesel outboard power head for power. but create one with a water tight housing and a air inlet that can be routed in from the upper cabin. so it will work partially with the power head submerged just in case. the power head will fit a multi impeller section pump body this will have inflow blocking valves to the different impeller sections. flow control will also be at the impeller section for each of the 6 hose outlets.... six.. bow and transom are shared .. then you just have singles for the 4 sides for steering.. this would give all kinds of small to 50' boats all kind of handling abilities . and also. the ability to run around the harbor on the diesel outboard with the main engines off. imagine sail boats.. with this system. nozzles don't really need to be below the water line.. but if they are.. sea cocks like you have installed. but i would prefer a flow opened check valve at each nozzle. could it be a tapered plug spring loaded... could it have be a pull in type of unit. that the water pressure in the hose pulls the tapered plug back like a diesel fuel injector. so the thru hull fitting is always plugged and streamlined.. could the thru hull fittings pop out nozzles like a pop up sprinkler head.. just think.. something like this could even be used in tiny boats like oregon dorys.. i would love to build one of these using a PWC jet pump and engine if it could be a diesel.. so vapors are not an issue in the bilge/engine room. there would need to be piston and springs as bypass valves on the impeller sections.. so any trapped water is recirculated back into the pump inlet instead of building too much pressure.
