This is so enlightening. Hannah’s experience and her account really resonates with me. I have been in excruciating sacral, SI and radiating gluteal pain for 18 months. My experience of health care providers and therapists echoes Hannah’s own. I really see this as the beginning of a breakthrough. Thank you both for sharing this profoundly important understanding which can impact the lives of so many people in chronic pain. Nociplastic pain is so debilitating and this may bring so much confidence and a sense of recoverability to more people than me. 🙏🏻

I have lived with fibromyalgia since 2015 and it seems like it gets worse all the time!!! It feels like I’m in a vice grip and it’s being closed on me whenever I breathe!! I have excruciating pain all the time and it takes all I have to make it through work each day!! It really burns me out and wears me down to where I feel like I might pass out from the pain!! 😢😭

I am sensitive to heat. Every day is painful but I am grateful for all the good in my life. I’ve seen many doctors over 3 decades and I could write a book about having an invisible condition and the meanest things that have been said and done to me. What I disagree with whole heartedly is the fear the medical community has regarding prescribing opiates. Fibromyalgia patients are in some of the most severe pain a person goes through if opiates are lessening their pain then be a brave Doctor and prescribe painkillers and whatever it takes to manage the daily pain. You may be saving their life. I say I’d rather give birth once a month than live with the daily pain and lm not exaggerating. God Bless all those suffering.

Diagnosed wide spread pain syndrome many years ago this was the beginning I am now unable to work and don’t socialise any longer. My joints flair with bursitis and bakers cysts the more active I am causes more joint pain. Spine is full of arthritis spinal surgery 18 months ago for smashed discs. Where do I begin? I’m sick of pain being in charge of my life!

that's an interesting perspective. How do you think central sensitization comes about? Isn't it through neuroplasticity? 🤔

"You're just a drug addict" it was a residence in the emergency room told me that I just need to stop coming in here plus I was screaming in pain I saw fear in her eyes she looked scared she told me she would be right back in like 5 minutes later the nurse came in with my discharge papers and told me to get the heck out of the emergency room yes I understand chronic pain is known for the emergency room but I was screaming in pain because I was in so much pain and all they do is put Band-Aids on it

I'm 23 and My spine is messed up , I think about suicide often because it's often excruciating. I can hardly walk anymore let alone do any kind of exercise. I was denied surgery and my doctor now wants to send me to a specialist pain hospital, which was a shock to me as I thought that was the whole point of hospitals.

Fibromyalgia doesn't cause bulged discs, does it? So what caused that? Have you looked into Ehlers-Danlos?
@paincrusaderofficial
@paincrusaderofficial Ай бұрын
Not sure I fully understand your question here, but Ill take a stab at it. No, fibro doesn't cause bulging discs... but bulged discs, fibromyalgia, EDS... doesn't matter... if you have long-standing pain, you have overactive pain pathways. Period. So even if we can't treat or cure the disc bulges or EDS (or whatever they say is the issue) we CAN address the overactive pain pathways that the healthcare system completely misses.

@@paincrusaderofficial what makes you think the healthcare system completely misses nociplastic pain? nociplastic is just a new trending term because of kosek, pain medicine specialists and anaesthesiologist have known about central sensitization for decades, the original discovery was Woolf's 83 paper, this stuff is NOT new, what is new is the dichotomizing of pain as purely being generated in the brain or periphery, which is where myself and a lot of people think the nociplastic term has become a bastardization of central sensitization. Woolf showed functional plasticity in the spinal cord after facing a challenging sampling issue while doing his experiments, the finding is robust, but was never intended to be a surrogate model for disease and he says this himself. Now everyone is focused on salient network and supraspinal plasticity, but the truth is that most complex chronic pain is mixed pain, tissular damage identifiable or not chronic pain involves plasticity, whether one has sufficient top down control to will there way through the pain is another frustrating discussion considering the spectrum of potential generators of pain brought on by a myriad of different assailants and stressors, stress-induced sensitization and pain-induced sensitization are not entirely the same thing, these processes actually diverge at some point and that was already shown back in 2002.

Ive just been stuck in the fibro box after years of being physically disabled with so many different symptoms. I have all symptoms new, old, chronic, reuccuring etc in my notes app. If you were to read through them it would take you around 30 secs to a minute. And they are all different. I have never been taken seriously since im only 20 and have been dealing with this since i was 15. i have had info withheld from me (including slight scoliosis in my neck, bulging discs along the entirety of my back) My question is, how do i seekhelp and for doctors to listen to me and medication without being labelled as drug seeking or having it be put on “fibro” or psycho-symptomatic
@paincrusaderofficial
@paincrusaderofficial Ай бұрын
I believe the problem is the medical system doesn't have the ability to support the complexity of chronic pain. You're fighting to advocate for yourself in a system that treats chronic pain the same as all other types of pain but its not. If you don't want labels or pain masking procedures and pills... you will never find what you're looking for in the medical system.

I live alone. I can’t really ask for help because people say stay busy and ignore your pain. I don’t work. The pain wakes me up screaming after 2 or less hours of sleep. It’s been like this for months. So I wake up in a flare up and panic attack. UNFORTUNATELY, i hibernate in bed because I’m so tired and shaky from only sleeping a couple of hours. I’m so discomforted. Help
