I've only gotten 1 sale from my 3 campaigns, and they have been running for approximately two weeks. Is it better to recreate campaigns with better keywords? My covers are professional and I have 35 organic, 4-5 star reviews (no advertising used for those). So I don't think it's the quality of the cover or content.

What I don't get is how can your book get reviews if you make no sales because you have no ads and you need reviews for the ads to work? I can't spend that much in 3 campaigns :( How are people doing this?

I'm looking to possibly get into KDP. I've been selling physical books through FBA for several years. I'm definitely more interested in high-content and high-profit books as opposed to the low-content $5.99 stuff. My question is what is the very minimum amount of funds one would need upfront to get into it and do it right? And, could AI be used instead of a ghostwriter in order to save on that one huge expense? Thanks.
@KenSelfPublishing22 сағат бұрын
I would say a high content book is anywhere from 700-1500. But if done correctly you can easily make that back with your first book. I recommend checking out the free course in the description. Yes, you can use AI to help, but a human finish is always nice. Either a good quality editor or use the urban writers AI ghostwriter package. It’s a lot cheaper.

ACOS is totally misleading. Even with 25% ACOS you will lose your money. What you are showing here is only Sales not net royalty. After deducting all printing cost as well as tax you will lose money. But, the way you are showing ACOS that you are making so much! And that is misleading about Amazon ads.
@KenSelfPublishing3 күн бұрын
This is not really true. You are also forgetting about organic sales. Yes, relying solely on Amazon ads it’s very hard to be profitable, but if you are publishing in high demand topics, ranking on page 1, and getting organic sales, your ads can be 30, even 50% acos and you still make profit because of the organic sales. Ads should just give your book a boost and keep relevant, but organic traffic is where the money is.

This was awesome. Very structured. Will be testing this out. I am honestly dubious that this will make money. Even my $9.99 paperback only makes $2.81. Even if I upped the price to $14.99; I'd only make $5.81. At 75 cents a click; I can't honestly see how it can end up profitable. Anyway, I'll test it. Have you tested out setting the bid price much lower and just having more books eg say 10 books with 3 campaigns? Also, how are you getting the book reviews?

Thank you for this! I just started up test campaigns. I can see it’s really favoring 1 keyword in particular that isn’t getting clicks. Should I leave it alone or turn that keyword off? How many impressions and no clicks until you would cut a keyword?
@KenSelfPublishing26 күн бұрын
If it’s getting impressions I would leave it, what we don’t want is it spending a bunch of money. So I would leave it, and eventually ask yourself, why isn’t it getting clicks? Do we need a cover update? More reviews? Is it too broad?

Hi Ken, what are the pros and cons of using AI to generate keywords if you want to focus on a subject area like economics?
@olaBabs-f4w29 күн бұрын
What I don't get is if you get through all of these and your keywords that checked through all your metrics doesnt have anything to do with my book, then wouldnt it just get impressions without clicks and if it gets clicks, there would be no sales because its irrelevant to my books. How do you work through this?
@KenSelfPublishing29 күн бұрын
This is a big misconception with Amazon KDP. People create a book, and find keywords. A keyword is just a book topic. Wall Pilates for women, for example. We should be looking for profitable keywords/book topics BEFORE we create books, and create a book to rank and sell on that exact search term. This is how to succeed with Amazon KDP. You simply find a topic people are already searching, and just make a book for that person. Put it in front of them with a good launch, and you will rank on page 1 and they will buy it. Publish like this and sales will very quickly follow.
@oladapobabalola106129 күн бұрын
First off, unfortunately many would have created and published their books before searching the keywords for many self publisher. Secondly, I’m not saying this your strategy would not work but if you are recommending doing all of these works before creating a book, then that books had better be a low content books that can be done in few months 1-3months. If it’s a high content books, then it’s a gamble that wouldn’t worth all of these stress because a high content books takes a longer duration to create and published often times 12months and more and the dynamics would have changed and at that point, those might not be relevant again.
@KenSelfPublishing28 күн бұрын
I understand that this is different for low content books, but idk where you got the number 12 months. Many people publish high content books and once you’ve done a couple it doesent take more than 2 months. Low content is way more of a gamble as the completion is astronomical and if you don’t have money to spend to boost your book to the top then it’s a game of luck. Sometimes low content books hit, sometimes they don’t.
@oladapobabalola106128 күн бұрын
@ Well technology and Amazon is a game changer that demystify book publishing. Now people just uses AI to do copy and paste and get things done in a minute unlike having to make research, learning and writing you idea or experience in a none fiction book, this is excluding having to proof read, editing and formatting and getting editorial reviews or foreword by someone who is an authority in that field you are writing on to read and pen down his opinion. All of these takes longer time. That being said, I appreciate your contribution to the game and as a matter of fact I just tried out some of your recommendations for kdp campaigns. Will monitor to see how it turns out cos been trying out different strategy but I know budget is definitely my limitation.

A little bit of overlap is fine. There is thousands of people searching on Amazon, there are always more placements. You could have 5 ads all targeting the same thing and you’d still reach new people.

@bahasolutionfolderАй бұрын
Ken, wonderful video! 👏 Using your approach, I already sold 9 books in 13 days. I have two questions: 1. How long should I keep the initial 3 campaigns? 2. One of the three initial campaigns I have, generated only 2 sales with 108% acos and with the biggest spending. The search terms of the sales in that campaign have each less than 10% acos. Does it not make sense to fully stop that campaign? bec. it is costly and not profitable Thank you in advance for your reply, Baha
@KenSelfPublishingАй бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! I would just optimize the campaigns. You can checkout my Amazon ads optimization video, however I would just go through and add any keywords as negatives that are bleeding money (over 10clicks, no sales) and leave in the keywords performing. It then should turn into a profitable campaign! Otherwise I usually turn them off after my book is launched and I have enough data for some winning campaigns. You should see a pattern with a majority of your sales coming from less than 10 keywords/products.
