Sorry just getting back into KZbin. Yes it is. I would advise using some form of anti bac paste on the seedy toe area when you put them in boots.

Poor little donkeys suffering in the wrong climate just because humans: Oh How Cute, I Want One!😢 Move to a hot climate if you really love them. But then I'd be uncomfortable! 👵🏻So... Thankfully the farrier knows what it is and what to do but still it's so sad🥺
@harryspinksfarrier4412 Жыл бұрын
Yes they are definitely in the wrong climate. However there are an awful lot of them and shipping them back to a warmer climate would not be feasible and so we do what we can do to help them. They have been over here for 100’s of years now though and are very adaptable little creatures 🙂

@harryspinksfarrier4412 Жыл бұрын
Different horses need different types of shoe fit. Some off of the toe, some to the toe and some back from the toe, by treating every horse as an individual it means that we can get the best result for every horse

How common is it for you to use four nails per shoe?
@harryspinksfarrier4412 Жыл бұрын
For me it depends on the work that the horse does and the size of the horse, but I like to use as few nails as possible. Probably 40% of ours have four nails in.

This is for a laminitic foot. They can work well for horses with low heels, however it depends on how bulbs the frog is. There may be better options. In the forms of pads and packing for those types of horses

I was apprenticednto a farrier briefly when i was young. His narrowboat caught fire and he lost the use of his hamds; i ended up nursing him for two years instead. I went on to work in IT, which i hated. Life is capricious and cruel.

anatomically horse's toe is like your toe or finger with a nail. while you cut your nail isn't hurt(exceptionally while you cut it too deep). yeah horses run with 4 toes only lol
@harryspinksfarrier4412 Жыл бұрын
💯 the horses foot is very similar to our distal phalanx. There a lot to learn, but you are correct. If you cut to deep it hurts and you get blood. If you know what and where to trim you will generally be fine.
