how about efficiency? An "external" radiator should be more efficient that the usual pipe-based-blow-thru-Boilers that have a small heat exchange surface in the air tubes... is this the case? But otherwise you need more room for the external radiator and electric energy for the recirculation pump When goingthis route using more room I'd like the system to perform better and heat faster.... That the case?

If water circulation depends on the pump then there is a danger of water turning into steam (bomb) should the pump fail for whatever reason. It’s fine on systems where the heater never reaches 100° but in this one the exhaust temp is over 200°C. Need a larger diameter waterlines, greater height difference and natural circulation. Also less moving parts.

Hi guys. I need to do exactly this to a transit custom on a 13 plate. Gone to buy the product from your website and it says that it's not suitable for smart alternators? How have you got round that?
@bobilvans42054 ай бұрын
Interestingly, I thought the Victron Orion (which is suitable for smart alternators) had a fancy computer on board which use some sort of altorighm to determin whether the vehicle is running or not. It doesn't, its just different limits. So you can use this for a smart alternator, you might just have to play around with the thresholds a bit to find what works for your van.
@davidt33214 ай бұрын
@bobilvans4205 now that is interesting 🤔 typical of companies trying to sell you a fancy gadget that's unnecessary. So with this once it hits the predetermined voltage it powers on after the pre set delay. Will it then stay on if the voltage drops due to the smart alternator? Or do you have to set the on and off voltages ??
@bobilvans42054 ай бұрын
@@davidt3321 yes it will stay on until the voltage drops, but you can set the turn off voltage quite low and minimise the time delay until it turns on again. When I was playing around with it on a smart alternator the voltage rarely dropped below 12.5, resting was 12.7 so setting it to 12.8v meant the charger would be on for 95% of the time.
