So great to see, thanks for taking us there. How very cool of all the places and travels and players you've got to meet over the last year. Compliments your channel and your time, and is well deserving for you. Keep up the great work! 👏🎾

Amazing content. It would be even better if the video were a bit longer and included hardcourt into the mix.

as a junior player, i completely agree. i do things that you mentioned to keep the game fun, but some don’t appreciate it. parental pressure probably plays a large role in this.

This was an awesome video on differentiating between the platform and pinpoint stance. I am 67 years old and I am thinking that the platform stands will clearly provide consistency and help with my balance. That is sometimes an issue. Thanks so much I’ll add another comment. Once I start using the platform stands to let you know how it goes!

Hi Ashley. Isn't it surprising (strange) to you , that Iga can be World No.1 , despite her technical shortcomings by forhand, backhand and also serve ?
@TheTennisMentor18 сағат бұрын
The more I watch pro tennis, the more I come to understand that ‘technique’ per se is only a small component of what makes these players the best. Yes, some technical flaws will create limitations or even injury, but what lots of us perceive as bad technique is actually just ‘style’. What Iga, and all of the best players excel at is movement and all have incredible levels of awareness, anticipation, reactions and understanding of how to win (and how to problem solve when things aren’t going well).

I don’t know what are the shortcomings in her western forehand grip as in the most of the surfaces it creates a top spin 2500-3000 rpm, same goes with her „best on the tour” second serve (kick serve). Backhand she hits flat, so the opponent gets mix of spin and flat shots. Western forehand grip needs as a minus almost 360 degrees full swing, but the are working for the shorter version of that. The first serve motion is the new one and now she comfortably creates the speeds 185-195 km/h but it’s only sometimes aces, it’s more about the placement, mostly directly to the body. She started weight lifting preseason 2022, and already in USO2022, they constantly measured the hit/shot speeds. Sinner hit the forehand 4 mph faster than Iga, and only Thiem was able to generate the same speed on the backhand. Iga’s average was higher than ATP top20 in the tournament. So how hard she hits now, nobody of so called hard hitters on WTA side in fact generate similar speeds, it just seems so because of their screaming or grunting. Lots of areas to improve but her game IQ and mental strength surely are adding up. She is hardly 23 yrs old, 21 titles, of which 5 Grand Slams, 10 WTA1000, 5 WTA500 and one WTA250. Prize money puts her already to the top10 all time = 31,5 Million $. Shortcomings? You tell me.

Watching the coaching sessions is, in many ways, more interesting than watching matches. Why? Because on the practice court, that is where all the skills are built. Match courts are where you see those skills deployed. I would rather see how a player can CREATE the skills in the first place, so that we can then transfer that to our own students. Its a bit like teaching the teacher.

Thank you for the content. A quick question: Isn't that like cramming for an exam the night before? No pro will improve drastically during the tournament. She must be focusing on conditioning.
@TheTennisMentor17 сағат бұрын
There are never really enough breaks on the tour to make big changes in a players game. The adjustments made at this level are so marginal, it’s more of a gradual evolution/improvement. There are some cases of bigger changes on the tour (Novak’s serve motion, Jannik’s serve stance etc) but these will be made during a few week’s off between tournaments. The best players are truly great students and make adjustments to their games a lot more than we realise! They pick things up much quicker than you and I, that’s why they’re where they are! In this practice, like most during a tournament, there was not really any technical work. The focus was on what the ball was doing, not the racket.
