GREAT cover! One of the most appealing, attractive and well-produced Coffin Comics cover images I have seen in a long time...maybe, ever. That portrait conveys both a very comic-bookin' composition as well as that of a theatrical fantasy-horror poster. Effective: I want to pick up this book, open its covers and flip through its pages. Particularly since I have no awareness of any other character besides Lady Death herself. $8 for a Coffin Comics graphic novel. What is the page count in this particular book, TSPH? With what I glimpsed contrasting or complimenting the example you showed, this does seem overall more 'safe' than the Purgatori stories I've read. In regards to both violence and feminine forms. Also, yes, after 80 years of repeated pop culture treatment through many different mediums, the plot with that particular scientist is a scenario long-since played out already. What you sum up this volume with sounds apt, including the cover art and the content. Since I'm not a 'diehard', I can always find a desktop wallpaper or otherwise copy of the cover. Thanks go to you, once again TSPH, for dropping some more quick comic book entertainment. Continue to have a pleasant rest of your week.

This front cover's image is just fine, though I do prefer the style and overall image framed on the back cover. And, thankfully, the interior art. Praise garter belts. The concept of Atrocitas, while following with Coffin Comics' simplistic, straightforward naming and female character design variations, as an angel-demon hybrid comes across as, well, lame. Any idea what makes this, the “Hellbomber Edition”? Maybe the particular cover image. Coffin Comics' titles are more or less consistent in what they offer for the reader to get out of them - whether or not all of them are consistent in delivering their presentations. I only personally own and have read issues of Purgatori. This seems like, again, fine fun for what you know you're getting it for. Pulido's trademarks. Thanks for talking about something lighter, easier, coming off of your previous video of The Shade with more...dramatic depth. Take care, TSPH, and enjoy the rest of your holidays time this year!

That's a stylish, well-drawn cover. Something about the covers of issues that James Robinson writes...many of those that I have seen include characteristic, visual “flair” or stylishness that makes his literary touch visibly identifiable. High-detail artist pairings, I think...I'm pretty sure Robinson's been teamed with other, similar artists, and not that I'm only remembering Bret Blevins' work. This was a terrific “bottle” issue. The dialogue and art made for a really well done homage to the Golden Age callback. How classy. Good choice, good review and a good Christmas week to you, TSPH!

Good central cover image by an artist who produced one of the era's lead runs on a Batman series. Regardless of the hologram card inclusion, which I also don't mind at all. I still appreciate those SFX images on those cards. The writer and the editor also know the Batman source and this young central character well. Interior art is less consistent and appealing than the cover and compared to Batman titles. Which has been an impression I've gotten from paging through issues of Chuck Dixon's ongoing Robin series (which followed these multiple miniseries). I'm gradually catching up on belatedly viewing your latest swath of welcome reviews “from the past”. I look forward to finding out about the rest of this 4-parter concisely through your videos if you do so choose to cover it. Either way, take care, be well and have a comfortable and enjoyable day, TSPH.

Haven't read this issue yet though I'll get to it eventually, sometime in the new year but still awhile away. I'd get there sooner if Disney wasn't erratically re-releasing material in conflicting formats, inefficiently. The first Epic Collection in 2023 was my recent intro to Danny Ketch's version. I digress, and here's your review, now. I've only read up to issue #12 so far, thus I have no idea who Sokolowski is. Ah, at least you tried doing a Spirit of Vengeance voice. I didn't know Ketch's Ghost Rider could...”conjure” a whole, separate, 'new' motorcycle. In this series' earliest issues he can obviously already mentally or spiritually “call” the bike to him from somewhere else. And I'm guessing that the relationship between Danny and his police girlfriend is...strained, what with her firing multiple shots at Ghost Rider from her service pistol. A decent one-shot crossover apparently in the midst of a pre-existing storyline with seemingly a lesson or development of worth to Danny's character, over a different Spirit of Vengeance that I've never heard of before by name. Good art; one can see the fledgling digital colours coming out as this was published right at that post-Malibu time. Thanks for an issue featuring more of fun characters that I like, TSPH. Have a pleasant rest of your week!

The colour chosen for Cinder's skin looked...distractingly neon, in this issue at the least. Regardless of her mixed heritage, she looks like she's from the world of The Simpsons. I am certain that Ashe's name is pronounced “Ash”, particularly with his similar-coloured hair. Supplanting his gunfight against the kidnappers with his flashbacks of fighting the VC in 'Nam was a bit confusing at first but did ultimately convey the intended effect well enough. Part two of a pretty good late'-80s TV pilot, maybe on Home Box Office at that time, given the form of this miniseries. Hah, that's not intended as an insult - the form of the writing along with the maturity simply seem most comparable to that format. Even though this was apparently always conceived by Gerry Conway for sequential art form. I definitely had to pay closer attention than to a Tale from the Past of “supers”. Thanks a lot for the exposure to the matieral through your review efforts, TSPH. Have a merry end of this month.

It didn't sound to me like you butchered any of the most common and well-known names of the talent - DeFalco, Buscema, Sienkiewicz, Fingeroth - that you were concerned with. I wasn't ever a fan of The Clone Saga, either. I “only” read issues #1-155 of The Amazing Spider-Man, stopping before that original Saga story in the mid-late '70s. Perhaps that story is good for what it is; reflective of the times, of the world of fiction at the time. I certainly have far less, zero and worse, interest in the '90s regurgitation of the story, involving Ben Reilly's Scarlet arachnid knockoff. That said, without having read this I'd go into this issue with a mind open to be willing to enjoy whatever it has to offer. Plus, I only ever read comparatively early issues of both the Spectacular Spidey and Web of Spidey “alternate” Spider-Man titles. Hah. I'd been curious-to-fascinated in Darkhawk as a young adolescent, from his Marvel Series 2 trading card and then his cameo in some other Marvel character's series that I don't firmly remember; probably a Spider-Man title or story. I'm sure that my interest was entirely over his visual design, as I never read any content featuring him or was aware of there being much substance to him. Anyway, 2-3 years ago I recalled that nostalgia, looked up any collections published of his self-titled book and bookmarked “Darkhawk Classic - Volume 1”. Being long-since out of print any copies for sale I did find weren't cheap so I'm glad I eventually deleted that bookmark and didn't pull the trigger. Having convinced myself I'd be disappointed, at this age in my life. “Dreamkiller.” What a non-generic villain name, what a great character chest logo and that was all totally not sarcasm. 'Totally'. Ironic, that this put you to sleep. Well, thanks for elucidating further on at least an unimpressive example to Darkhawk's own series. Any other impressions posted online that I'd come across previously likewise described this overall as another mediocre '90s character. Regardless of any recent, Disney-owned and dredged-up 'appearances'. Marvel Comics is dead and I'm satiated for life with delving into its past. Thanks for your coverage, TSPH, and have a great day.

I continue to enjoy each of these issues' distinctions during this storyline. Not one but a trifecta of classic villains. I'm aware of all three of them, both in comics form and through animated treatments. The Shade is the villain of this trio whom I have had the most exposure to and appreciation for. I first knew him through the Justice League (later season[s], named “Justice League Unlimited”) animated series. As with veritably everything else from that series, I quite enjoyed that portrayal. Have you watched much of that very well-done Warner Bros. animation, TSPH? This part was the peak of fun in this plot so far, of course, with Garrick the original back in action and the trio of familiar faces set to terrify the populace and trounce the speedsters. The Flashes are cutting it close, with their rescue of the would-be victim in the cover's image. Such a classic lineart style, that should not have been abandoned. The lightning “flash”, “CRAASH!”, that hits Barry looks very painful. But, being a cop, he can recover soon enough to run away from a car, two panels later 😛. Fun, and obviously historic first meeting between these two Flashes, and the comparing of their origins. Reinvigorating Jay to return to his hero role, coinciding with the character's return to publishing, served this part well, too. @@CaptainFrugalReviews personally I think the amount of dialogue remained more or less consistent as far as my limited knowledge about American comics goes. But the ones that I read from the 60's to let's say late 80's, begin 90's did have more narration to get people more invested into the story and into the characters train of thought , motives (Dream Theater reference for those of you who listen to prog). And the way the stories like this were structured. It required a little more immersion and made you think a little bit more. Which explains why they took longer to read. I keep trying but I just can't seem to like Kyle Rayner's character as the successor to the Earth Lantern role in his time period. Maybe my inability to warm up to him is due to knowing the other Lanterns first. Even Guy Gardner, for how acerbic and different from the others as he is. I don't disagree that Kyle was the lone sentinel to actually stand up in action against possessed Hal here though, not wavering from his duty and instincts.
