what ever happened to Nautilus Tutorial 2: Advanced features?
@QuBitElectronix2 ай бұрын
It's been a long time coming, but we will be releasing Tutorial 2 with the upcoming Nautilus firmware update. That way we can cover the complete list of available features on Nautilus between the two videos. The firmware update is currently in beta on our Discord, and we expect to release an official version soon!

question please : how to change the pitch of the various sound sources
@wizzyforeverr3 ай бұрын
so i am still a bit confused on tuning this thing. i understand selecting the scale, but i keep getting notes outside of the key i wanted. what is the range on the root note setting, is each light a half step? and when i send it into a tuner it says my notes are hitting 20-30 cents off, is there a way to fine tune it?
@QuBitElectronix3 ай бұрын
The Root knob is a diatonic transposition of Bloom's sequence. It will stay in the key of your oscillator's frequency and Bloom scale. That being said your notes shouldn't be 20-30 cents off. If you are having trouble with tuning on your Bloom, our support team would be happy to troubleshoot it with you! You can reach out via the contact form on our site.

What is the longest delay time that can be achieved with Nautilus? From the manual I see the slowest clock rate is .25Hz so 15bpm which would be 4 seconds. Wondering how this works out with the resolution knob. I see resolution divides as low as two bars. Assuming these are based on 4:4 timing, 2 bars would be 8 beats? would that mean a single delay line would have a delay of 32 seconds at min clock rate and min resolution? Or am I understanding resolution wrong? I'm hoping for around 8 seconds of delay so I can do Frippertronics style looping but with that qubit special sauce on top. Thanks!
@QuBitElectronix4 ай бұрын
The perceivable max delay time is ~20 seconds per channel, so you should be able to achieve that with a slow clock rate and Resolution!

Nice, but I find it quite confusing that if a pattern has less than 8 notes, all 8 LEDs are still on. For example, if a pattern has only 6 notes, I would expect LED number 7 and 8 to be turned off.

Yeah, using the Lock feature as a "record" is more of a neat trick, but using the Gate Input would relieve keeping the click! Maybe we can add a setting in Narwhal that moves the Zone position to remove the first bit of audio!

What is the relationship between setting on the knob and corresponding cv input? Does the control voltage bypass the setting on the knob or does it modulate within the parameters set by it? Anyways wonderful module, like beads with a hint of data bender - I love it so much.

are you planning to add custom scales to narwhal? a lot of my music doesn't adhere to the scales available and being confined to just octaves would really limit the potential of the module. in fact this is the only reason holding me back from picking up mojave.

7:47 I think you mean when Dividing you need 2 pulses to advance 1 step no? That’s how it works when using Bloom. Div 2 = 2 clock pulse per each step sequence.
@QuBitElectronix7 ай бұрын
The wording here is a bit tricky, but correct. In order for Bloom to know what clock rate it needs to multiply, it requires two pulses from the external clock. Bloom reads the time between the two pulses, calculates the clock rate from that, then multiplies the clock rate to advance the sequence. Let us know if that makes sense!
@domtak7 ай бұрын
That makes sense. I do like how Bloom advances 1:1 (and divides) per pulse as it means you can send in some really wonky clocks and it happily keeps track. Nice!@@QuBitElectronix

what I want to know…. Is how you got a clocked sample of Amen break!
@QuBitElectronix7 ай бұрын
Nebulae v2's Pulse Output sends a gate signal at the start of each loop, which we use to clock Data Bender! I believe in this patch we use Bloom as a clock multiplier to get the pulse rate up before clocking Data Bender.

I already have Aurora and Data Bender, and Nautilus will be arriving in a few days. Watching this and The Unperson's demos, it looks and sounds completely batty. Can't wait! As for the Narwhal interface, that's a brilliant idea. I think I might petition Make Noise as to the possibility of them doing something similar for Morphagene.
@QuBitElectronix8 ай бұрын
Narwhal definitely makes dealing with configuration files a lot more palatable! Enjoy your Nautilus!
@richarquis8 ай бұрын
@lectronix I will! Since you're on the line, I have a question re: Nebulae V2. I already have MI Beads, MN Morphagene, and 1010 Bitbox Mk2. Beads and Morphagene are totally different animals, and Bitbox although it can work at a granular level, really isn't designed for that. Nebulae looks good because it has a much longer record time, and if I use that up, I can just transfer it into the Bitbox card which is huge. So, I'm asking myself, is there a reason to buy the Nebulae V2, and my first answer is, given all the alternate firmwares, hell yeah. However, there are very few videos showing the V2 in action in its native firmware, and I have yet to look for videos of the alternate firmwares. Are there any resources you can point me to? Or is it just functionally the same as V1, but with improved processing/buffer size or such, in which case the V1 videos would suffice? Oh, and if I did choose it, are there alternate panels available for those firmwares?

seems pretty cool. One question- with the with the PATH, BRANCHES, and MUTATION knobs, do they only change CV (v/oct) values or can they also introduce changes to the gate trigger pattern as well?
@QuBitElectronix8 ай бұрын
Branches and Paths will introduce both CV and Gate On/Off variations, but are separate from the main trunk sequence. Mutation will only affect the CV, but it's destructive to the main trunk sequence. It's not permanently destructive however; you can revert back to your original sequence by holding SHIFT and pressing the RESET button. Hope this helps!
