That is an absolutely awesome job! Congratulations. Let me see if I understood correctly about the filtration system. The water goes from the pool into the wetland (Gravel) via the 3 openings, then it filters down thru the aggregate (gravel) and the plants down into the slotted pipes in the bottom, the water comes back up via the well, you pump the water back into the pool, goes thru the UV light, thru the flow meter valve, back into the pool and repeats the cycle over and over again. Did I get that right? I’ve seen some people have it the other way around where they have the water filter up thru the wetland instead of filtering down, but your works awesome as well. Did you only used 2 types of rocks for your filtration system? Thank you

Thank you for sharing! I’m intresting to have more info about the project as which plants did you use, which is the ratio for the plants area comparing to the pool size and if you had some lime on to bottom of the pool due to the plants as happens in the bio lakes or did you manage to have a clean area (if we want to put a light blue instead of green as you used?) where i can find some of those info? Or can you share it directly to me by email? Thank you for your help and congratulations for the project!

When running full max it is 750W. But it is frequency regulated and with the current flow of approx 6000L/h it runs 100W. During summer (APR-OCT) it runs 24/7. During winter it runs 3 hours on and then 3 hours off.

Are the floors and the walls of the pool made of concrete? Have you thought of using tiles because the rough surface of concrete maybe promoting algae growth ? Also another advantage of tiles is the ease of cleaning by the robot.

No. As described in the video the concrete is covered with a liner. Gives a smooth surface.

Thank you for informative video. I am designing now my new organic pool after successfully having one for 8 years here in Thailand. Like you I used concrete as base in total (300 m2) …. Just wondering why you used liner? I didn’t and had no leak…..the bottom of swimming part (beach entry) was sandwashed and rest left natural. Bit slippery due to some “stuff” stick to bottom but weekly brushing kept it ok…….for next one design is better to use vacuum robot. So just, back to question why you used liner…..just out of precaution, color, or did you really had concerns the concrete leaking?

Used liner to get smoother surface for easier cleaning.

Hello, why you choose exact water pump. I am super inspired with your work and i'm trying to work with my pond in the same way. I am now on pump choosing part. What do you think about Jebao 3000 pumps. They use onlu 300-400 Watts in discription what is super cheap in year calculation versus 1,5kw pumps

For a DIY - Do iT Yourself (NOT DYi 😆🤣) project pretty good job. I would suggest NOT having your pumping station or anything electrical below ground near moisture and water (heavy rain etc) and if you incorporate Clinoptilolite Zeolites into your filter you'll enhance the natural capacity of that filter 5-10x which it's then possible to bring in some small marine life... BUT to do that you'll need to learn a lot about their requirements and sustainability also, so maybe that's the next upgrade? 🙂 well done anyhow for a DiY it's a damn good one. Also, it would have been better to have some video? it's youtube after all right??

Hello Karsten, Very nice project and thanks for sharing. I had few questions and hope you could answer them. I'm in Italy, would my climate be ok for a project like yours? Instead of plants do you think that i could use filtration media only, with high surface to volume area? To avoid mosquitoes to breed in your system, what would you suggest? Thanks
@DocLindgaard
@DocLindgaard 6 ай бұрын
Yes I sure you could get it to work in Italy as well. Yes you can make a filter with only gravel/filter materiel. The technique is a bit different and is usually done by having a bottom->top side high flow system. And with a high flow system you also prevent mosquitoes from egg laying because they dont do that in flowing water.
