I am building Bed & Bisquit & Labrador Breeding in Pattaya, Thailand. This almost exact plan I will incorporate next to the kennels basically for the dogs. Mine will be a swim spa with a Hayward Eco pump that can vary from very slow current for the regeneration zone to I think 3hp that I can redirect to the 6 jets at one end pushing the water at about 2km/hr with a vanishing edge falling into a 3m x3m shallow puppy pool . Great job but I still wonder why the well is necessary. Just the return thru the concrete on the bottom and connect to the network of corrugated pipes below the larger gravel? The idea is to wear the dogs out playing and swimming all day so as to have chill evenings.
@lowryshank94Ай бұрын
why did you need that well in the filter zone, why not connect directly to octopus configuration on the bottom below all the rocks

How come you decided on this filtering set up instead of a air pump system that uses air stones to move the water? Also, I’m curious about the electricity consumption of this rig.

It doesn't use clorine like it says in the video, plants do most of filtration. This is a natural pool, not a natural pond.
@gardenandcalico3 ай бұрын
natural pool only refers to the water source and filtration system. if youre looking for ponds theres tons of videos on here as well! just focus on "swimming pond" "nature pond" search terms and tbh I recommend looking for your local area too, because almost every detail will vary wildly based on your local climate and wildlife.

How do you manage freezing, Do you pump the entire pool out? What is your climate zone? I am planning do do a similar pond on a mountain area in Zone 4 / 5 Massachusetts, it will get quite cold throughout the year. Wondering are all the pumps / wells / filters etc all below the frost line? >4 feet down beneath the rocks?

That is an absolutely awesome job! Congratulations. Let me see if I understood correctly about the filtration system. The water goes from the pool into the wetland (Gravel) via the 3 openings, then it filters down thru the aggregate (gravel) and the plants down into the slotted pipes in the bottom, the water comes back up via the well, you pump the water back into the pool, goes thru the UV light, thru the flow meter valve, back into the pool and repeats the cycle over and over again. Did I get that right? I’ve seen some people have it the other way around where they have the water filter up thru the wetland instead of filtering down, but your works awesome as well. Did you only used 2 types of rocks for your filtration system? Thank you

Thank you for sharing! I’m intresting to have more info about the project as which plants did you use, which is the ratio for the plants area comparing to the pool size and if you had some lime on to bottom of the pool due to the plants as happens in the bio lakes or did you manage to have a clean area (if we want to put a light blue instead of green as you used?) where i can find some of those info? Or can you share it directly to me by email? Thank you for your help and congratulations for the project!

When running full max it is 750W. But it is frequency regulated and with the current flow of approx 6000L/h it runs 100W. During summer (APR-OCT) it runs 24/7. During winter it runs 3 hours on and then 3 hours off.

Thank you for informative video. I am designing now my new organic pool after successfully having one for 8 years here in Thailand. Like you I used concrete as base in total (300 m2) …. Just wondering why you used liner? I didn’t and had no leak…..the bottom of swimming part (beach entry) was sandwashed and rest left natural. Bit slippery due to some “stuff” stick to bottom but weekly brushing kept it ok…….for next one design is better to use vacuum robot. So just, back to question why you used liner…..just out of precaution, color, or did you really had concerns the concrete leaking?
