Hello from Tenerife! I have also comment in the previous video, I need some help to finish a natural pool project. Can you tell me the specifications of the perforated pipe you used down in the filter zone? also the pump you used for sucking the clean water of the filter area? I am building an organic pool in Canary Islands and here I can't find those. Thank you and congratulations for the video!

Thanks. The perforated pipe is 10cm in diameter (something like this: ornestationmors.dk/en/products/lime-spray--drain/draenslange-sort-50-meter-80-mm-direkte-levering. The pump is a BADU ECO Touch Pro-2.

Hej Karsten, Beautiful pool! Questions: 1. What is substrate filtration? 2. I want to build a natural pool (I live in Mallorca) and the architect wants to build a 27m2 basement for the machinery! That’s really expensive and I wonder if you need it? How big is the room where your machines are? Thanks! Céline
@DocLindgaard
@DocLindgaard 9 ай бұрын
Thanks :-). Substarte filtration is when water flows through a layer of material substrate (in our case small gravel/rocks) where a natural layer of biofilm builds up on the surface of the substarte and cleans the water. In my mind a 27m2 room for pool machinery is massive! Even if you build a conventional cloride cleaned pool. All my technical stuff (pumps, power and so) fits into appro. 2m2.

Thanks! We will begin our dig this winter, we have been inspired alot by your ideas and shape for our plans. Your decking is solid and looks very sharp with clean lines, I like to play with concrete which also works better in our climate in lieu of wood. Have you used your UV light filter? Thanks Again for sharing! Looking Great!

Hello Karsten, Very nice project and thanks for sharing. I had few questions and hope you could answer them. I'm in Italy, would my climate be ok for a project like yours? Instead of plants do you think that i could use filtration media only, with high surface to volume area? To avoid mosquitoes to breed in your system, what would you suggest? Thanks
@DocLindgaard
@DocLindgaard 6 ай бұрын
Yes I sure you could get it to work in Italy as well. Yes you can make a filter with only gravel/filter materiel. The technique is a bit different and is usually done by having a bottom->top side high flow system. And with a high flow system you also prevent mosquitoes from egg laying because they dont do that in flowing water.

Hello, why you choose exact water pump. I am super inspired with your work and i'm trying to work with my pond in the same way. I am now on pump choosing part. What do you think about Jebao 3000 pumps. They use onlu 300-400 Watts in discription what is super cheap in year calculation versus 1,5kw pumps
@DocLindgaard

the pump I use is frequency controlled and does not run on full capacity. At the current setting it run on approx. 250 Watts

One little comment. I read somewhere that the plant regenration area should be at least the same area / size as the swimming area for the plants to truly do their job and to have crystal clear water. Also a running system woudl help ( a small water feature -maybe waterfall or stream - that keeps the water moving) which would help control algae build up.
@DocLindgaard
@DocLindgaard Жыл бұрын
Thanks 😊. It depends on how you build your system. If it’s solely plant filtration then the area should be minimum half of the swimming area. But if you combine with substrate filtration (flow depended) then you can go to approximately 25% of the swimming area (what I did).

What interesting vids, thanks for posting. Do you think that Denmark’s seasonal cold negatively affects your organic/plants and microbes? Does it take them a while after the cold weather to work optimally? Do you think that a natural system like yours would work better in a warmer place like California or Italy? Thanks again for sharing your info.
@DocLindgaard
@DocLindgaard Жыл бұрын
Thank you 🙂 I think the system works fine in the tempered climate like ours. The filtration efficacy goes down in the winter because of decline in microbes in the filtration area: But so does the algea production. In warmer climates you would have algea production year around.

@DocLindgaard
@DocLindgaard 2 жыл бұрын
Hej Jonas.

Hey Karsten, is it posible to use a heatpump on natural pools?
@booboofinger2595
@booboofinger2595 Жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same. It would seem that it should be ok however if the return is via a feature such as a waterfall it may loose most of the heat. That shouldn't be an issue with this set up but it would aid efficiency by insulating the 2 return lines, as they run quite a long distance in the shade under the deck thereby robbing heat along the way back to the pool. In my opinion a solar heater would be inline with the natural aspect but would detract from the esthetics of the yard unless it could be located out of sight.
@DocLindgaard
@DocLindgaard Жыл бұрын
Yes, heatpump systems could be added. But I would then suggest using a pool cover during night because I think you would loose a lot of heat during that period.
