Love seeing you with all life changes around! I agree with not niching and simplifying, and I would definitely use the workbook, I've been trying something super simple myself too. Also would like to know how it's going with the backend tool you chose.

Wow, it just happened. I tried to save someone from personal default. De fault was of their own. I spent a LOT of money on this effort. Traveled 1500 miles and spent LARGE pile of money. Saved them! Got no respect! And, a lot of disrespect! This was very expensive, depressing and has taken days to accept. I did what I could because this was a human in need. I got a lot of thank yous and a lot more give me mores and I will repay but, now I'm going to travel and play on my own. This human will not return anything because this human cannot without making an effort. And, that isn't going to happen, I now know. Life changing yes but, it's time to move one. Ouch! And, this too will pass! But, ouch again!

Trying to get a channel off the ground and have a quick question for you. When you say “1 niche specific KZbin” do you mean a whole different channel dedicated entirely to a single niche or do you mean just a single video that fits within a single niche? Hope that made sense 🤣

I use to give people advice, but now we have youtube with 100s of videos on every possible subject. Im not sure if its a good thing or not. Good luck here with your channel, stay wild.

Yes, Claire, life changes. They happen all the time. When I was thirty, I had 2 children and a wife. But, I wanted to go to college. So, I had to make big changes to make that happen. Went from working two jobs to working more. Changes do upset your life, for sure. Don't worry you have the time. Of course, that may depend on things out of your control. At 80 I'm still trying to do KZbin. Yes, your cat is magical.

Great video topic and loved it! For my blogging channel I talk about different topics like KZbin, making money blogging, writing tips, some social media and digital products. I also want to do some tutorials for tools that creators or bloggers use...so yes, I do have different topics but I feel my audience wants to know all of that...well I think...for my other channel (21k subs) it's a business focussed channel so I only talk about one main thing freelancing and under that little topics related like jobs, writing, money etc... I can say that both ways make money and grow an audience!

My comment is purely from a viewer perspective. I am aware that is almost the opposite perspective to the question, but it might not be entirely outside of the topic. To me, the primary allure of KZbin is the (relatively) niche content. That is, (even) as a European I can enjoy, say, a video with some bloke from Ohio explaining an intricate aspect of a steam locomotive that used to run on a rail line in his city. Then at other times I will watch a more generic comedy sketch video. I think maybe "successful" is used in (at least) two different meanings for KZbin creators. In the above example, the Ohio bloke is highly successful in his goal - now everywhere around the globe, people that happen to be interested get easy access to the information he wished for people to have easy access to. The generic comedy sketch video channel, on the other hand, is successful in the sense of an enormous number of views. The KZbin platform is a bit like a potluck dinner, and as such dependent on creators to bring different dishes. In short, i don't think one option is strictly speaking better than the other, but the associated "success" may have dissimilar appearance and properties.

Glad you are back! Looking forward to the upcoming content! Making videos is like riding a bike, even after extended periods away, you remember how to do it but those first couple of times back on are shaky and scary as heck.

Glad to see you are back. Something that has helped me when filming - putting a photo of someone I like talking to on top of my camera. Then I am talking to that person rather than to my camera :-)

Many times! Just pick up the pieces and move on. I'd make a list but, don't want pity. Don't even like writing that. My favorite quote along those times is, "And this too, shall pass." And, with time it does. Some times it a day or two and sometimes it's a life time. The life time ones you just have to accept and move on. Song, "He's got the whole world in his hands"

Sure have and I hear ya! In the last 9 years I've moved time zones four times. NZ to UK. UK to Canada. Canada to NZ. And then back to Canada a few months ago. It's been a wild time but hell of an interesting. Glad to see you back. I'm thinking you're suited to a personal vlogging/daily life content style. Loved the outtake at the end. Which time zone have you moved to Claire?

@@Contentclaire_ity not so much anymore. I still write songs but now I’m an RBT and supervise a behavioral therapy program that works with neurodivergent individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities! As well as teach music lessons! So my plate is pretty full!

Hi... new KZbinr here, too... and I KNOW it makes sense to niche down because that is how KZbin/Google works, but is that good for our lives/brains/future and present selves? I'm not so sure. You seem a lot like me. You pursue a lot of wonderful interests with great passion. And MAYBE KZbin doesn't know how to deal with the richness of our lives - but if you weren't doing this project/experiment on KZbin, would you have it any other way? I wouldn't. I like doing all the things. I like being multidisciplinary. I like exploring my life. That said, I hope you keep making videos you actually like. If that's on content creation, great. But maybe your videos could be about all kinds of things, and we could SEE content creation in the works. Cheers to starting over.

I really enjoyed this sit down convo. I can totally relate. I have two channels and several blogs and several digital products and client work and well, I also get overwhelmed too. But that just means I focus on what I can focus on. So my KZbin videos don't get done, and I don't update on my socials or write a blog post. But I do work on my email list and clients then I switch. It's hard for sure! But you're doing great! For me, I'm giving myself grace. I also have twins and a family and I'm doing all that I'm doing so that I can have those wonderful experiences! You got this!

Hi Claire. Nice to meet you, again! I agree with the decision to not niche down, at least at this stage. How about setting yourself a target of 150 videos, and just talk about what's on your mind, or whatever is going on for you. This is 75 more videos on top of what you've completed. Then look at your statistics and see what people are watching, how long they are watching, essentially allowing you to discover your niche in an organic way. There maybe three, four, or five videos that do really well for views, watch time, and bringing in new subscribers. These videos and their topics could be your 'secret sauce'. Just a thought because I have heard other successful KZbinrs talk about this method. Best wishes for your journey.

This is great that you were able to get away and refocus. Your ADHD brain is wonderful but that’s why you have so many likes and things that you enjoy and want to learn. I think you have a great personality! You will do great in KZbin!

As long as you have big handle mug with you, you have it all. Imposter syndrome does suck. And wanting to do all the things and doing none of the things also sucks. It's good that you were able to see that you were becoming overwhelmed and took some time for yourself. I am glad that you came back and didn't throw in the towel. I look forward to seeing what's coming in the future. The biggest draw for me on KZbin has always been the community aspect and that is why I like finding smaller and newer channels and throwing my support behind them regardless of what their content is about. I believe we can all learn from one another and grow because of it. Welcome back!

You're fun to look at, so you've got that going for you, but otherwise this was kind of a rambling video. A key lesson I took from Video Production Class back in my day was, "Show. Don't tell." You did a whole lot of talking about equipment you weren't even demonstrating. Tighten that up and I bet you could redo this video into a very compelling ten min video. Just a suggestion. otherwise, keep on keepin' on. Best of luck to you!

Hey girl! In response to your prompt: I think you did under-edit a little here. I also find myself getting into the pausing and/or rambling mode quite a bit during filming. It is a really difficult balance of leaving some things in to stay real/maintain connection but also keeping it clipped down enough to keep the flow and viewers' attention. It's a process that I can tell you're working hard at and doing lots of experimentation with. You'll keep getting better with time!

Hi ! Thanks for the video ! I usually prefer it straight to the point. I've never done any KZbin video yet but I do give conferences and lectures. What I do is have my main points like a script. Then I rehearse a couple of time before the lecture, in order to know and master my subject and the transitions I wanna add. Usually it helps me have both of the two worlds : fluidity and pretty straight to the point. Dunno if that can help for YT videos though...

Well... As, online, I only give lectures, I would say my micro. A blue yeti. It helps a lot with the sound for the lectures. :-) I guess a good camera is also a plus, but I would rather have a crappy video with good sound than the opposite. I would loose everyone If I did that

Condolences there. Despite the vastly higher prices, I find NON-APPLE stuff more reliable. For ONE Apple you could typically buy THREE identical PCs. Also, if the PC-laptop dies, you can TAKE THE SSD disk OUT and not lose everything when you ship it to repair, buy the same model, and plunk that harddisk into the new one. Not possible on Mac, where it's soldered in (aargh).

I have almost made the switch a few times but then this computer stops acting up! Maybe when this thing completely gives out on me I'll make the switch, we'll see! There are pro's and con's to both for sure, and I'm not a very tech-y person 😆
