AluBlack does have an indoor setup as well. We'll have a build coming out this year with a tray and side boxes featuring a Skinny Guy Camper Kit 'N Kaboodle on top of it. A simpler option would be going with a setup like in the video and adding an awning vestibule.

Some small ergo improvement suggestions: SDHQ makes a printed SP-9100 mount that replaces the sunglass holder so you can access the buttons easier and also not block the rear view mirror. There are lots of things that pay homage to the original Defender and it has proven more reliable than the old Defender.
@nomadoutfitters24 күн бұрын
Would you say the Grenadier or the Defender II follows the line of the Defender better? If they called it a Discovery it would be more fitting is my opinion. It has more in common with a Jeep Grand Cherokee than a Defender.
@paulelledge897724 күн бұрын
@nomadoutfitters Are you basing that off anything besides the solid axels? If you want to get a ND with rubber floors, cloth seats and 18" wheels you can. It has lots of stuff that are in tribute to the original defender while moving into the future. The grenadier is probably closer to the original defender but that's because that was it's only goal while the ND was trying to move the product into the modern times. The Grenadier costs too much for it to be a "farm truck" so if I'm paying that kind of money I want comfort as well. Neither of them are cheap. Although you can get a New Defender for cheaper.
@nomadoutfitters23 күн бұрын
Coming from a past owner of 2 Defenders and Disco II, I get it and love that you are enjoying your rig. It is my opinion the Grenadier pays more homage to the Defender that put Land rover on the map than the new Defender. The amount of plastic that we've removed on the new Defender is absurd in our opinion. That's being said, it's not all aesthetics. We've heard enough from the local Land Rover shop with the amount of engines they are replacing per week on newer Land Rovers and seeing the amount of times rigs we know of going back to the dealer for problems that shouldn't come up adds to the reasons we're not fans of the platform. We're in the business of recommending platforms for builds for our clients, and this isn't one we're very high on.
@paulelledge897723 күн бұрын
@@nomadoutfitters Considering it came out several years before the grenadier it seems a little odd to say one is more of a tribute rig. That was literally the entire purpose of the Ineos. Strange about your local land rover shop's experience because it's definitely different than the one I talked to here in Phoenix before I purchased. From what I have read and heard, they are more reliable than the lr3 and lr4 and those were both more reliable than the disco. The original defender had some pretty big reliability problems as well. And the verdict is out on the grenadier but time will tell. Anyway, the rigs you guys make look great. I love the custom fog light setup you run.

Hi William, It has Spicer chromoly axles added when the 4.10 gears were done, and the factory axles that were removed were fine. The previous setup with the Skinny Guy Camper, drawer system and factory bed weighed more than what this setup does now. I get the want for Dana 60s, but with running trails in Colorado, Utah and doing Baja in it, I don't see the need for 1 tons and the Dana 44s are working great. The weight on this build is not much different than a factory truck bed, decked drawer system, bed rack or topper and tent.

@nomadoutfittersАй бұрын
Not a bad question at all. Comparing both out of the box, you get a center diff lock and a V8 with a GX460 which you don't with a 5th Gen 4Runner. Keep in mind this is a Prado 150 with a V8 instead of a diesel with more plastic. If keeping stock, they are very comparable minus the creature comforts you get with the GX. If you wanted to fully mod one out, I would pick a GX460 over a 4Runner to build without question.

I like the ARB dual compressor but the Lynx system is the weak link, tech for the sake of tech.. I'm converting mine to a simple switch and regulator.
@nomadoutfitters2 ай бұрын
What lynx system might you be referring to? We're a fan of the ARB twin as well and it will be wired to the Redarc Redvision Rogue system. There are benefits to the ARB Linx system, but I prefer to fill up one tire at a time using the Powertank inflator.
@curtshelp61702 ай бұрын
@@nomadoutfitters The ARB LYNX controller interfaces with a gutted Android phone that displays 4 pressure set points and allows adjustment from the drivers seat which can also control lights which I already have run through the Aux switches on the Gladiator. Unfortunately my phone forgot how to do its job and refuses to deliver air to the airbags. I spent months with ARB customer service and they attempted over the air updates but nothing helped so I installed a $59 Harbor Freight compressor and connected it directly to the air bags controlling it with the integral regulator. ARB has a manifold and solenoids controlling that air and I'm considering just removing that stuff in favor of a regulator.

The CBI engine two piece setup for the front provides better coverage and at the time RCI wasn't making their CAT covers. Only real reason we do it now instead of RCI is if it's a CBI front bumper. Man I appreciate it. Always good to hear that people are actually watching and enjoying them. I've owned a 94 NAS 90 #304 and a 93 110 #341 so I get the itch when it comes to Land Rover. That being said, engine failures have become more common and I think it's important to know before spending a lot of money on an overland build. The idea of an overland build is based around reliability and not something you are going to trailer out and trailer back when it breaks. With our build videos, are main goal is to explain what we did and why and go into the actual vehicle and give our opinion on it based on what we've seen. The Gladiator has been a solid platform and we've only experienced small issues with 60k (ish) miles on clock.
