Hello! How did you manage to get 13 of those planet digger machines? Do vendors refresh? Great video, many thanks
@RetconRaider
@RetconRaider 19 сағат бұрын
Sadly, I don't think they refresh. It's been a while, but I think the bulk of the ones I had here were from doing the main planet quests, colony projects, and a small number from trading with the Explorator Fleet. I will say that the biggest source of extractiums in Act 2 seems to be Kiava Gamma. Once you complete the main quest on Kiava Gamma you get 3 extractiums immediately, plus you gain access to colony projects that can let you build or trade for up to 13(!) more. :)

You're picking up on some subtle clues about the secret project. Still not a lot to go on yet, but good job, IMO. Some comments on dialogs with bridge crew: (1) If you had spoken with Vigdis before Idira's little breakdown with the fake Lady Theodora, you have an optional way to calm Idira down, which can lead to some minor interactions that can actually end in a different ending slide for Idira. Not a big deal, but it does encourage the player to speak with NPCs early and often. I know that this can be tedious, but I encourage periodically going around and looking for new interactions with both companions and the bridge crew. Maybe off screen unless you find something? And yeah, personal skills are necessary for these interactions, both persuasion and awareness (at least that I noticed). (2) Heinrix will also offer gift advice for Jae. (3) Yrliet will have a random ship event with you now that you expressed interest in how she sees things. Try to trigger that before you end the chapter. (4) Try to get the space cat before the end of the chapter from Jae as well. I know it's not exciting viewing for some without the thrill of combat, but I enjoy the character interactions, your comments on their personalities, speculation about lore info gained, and even paraphrases of the prompts your Rogue Trader says. So...my two cents.

I doubt Mort's death was because of Theodora's intrigues. Examining Mort when you first find him reveals he was killed before he could draw his weapon and that he was killed with some kind of auto-gun (not a bolter or energy weapon). Who killed Mort and Theodora seemed fairly obvious to me from the information gained at the crime scene.

@pedromoura1446
@pedromoura1446 Күн бұрын
StarCraft being based on wh40k, because GW refused to lend the IP to Blizzard, non witstanding...as far as i know, a craftworld would probably put adun to shame as they're part ship part planet (know of the moon sized Blackstone fortress that broke cadia? They're bigger...) each is big enough to contain a whole fighter jet speed racing track for training, their biggest ships and million of eldar doing everything from farming to art...
@TheArklyte
@TheArklyte Күн бұрын
@@pedromoura1446 1)the history of relations of Blizzard and Games Workshops started before that. I can elaborate further, but this isn't a context of this comment. 2)Craftworlds house billions, not millions. However you VASTLY underestimate the size of both Spear of Adun and imperial vessels. And of how irl relativistic colony ships would look. Or rather how much space is in a ship that can be as "small" as several kilometers long. As mentioned to other guy in comments, planetoid, NOT planet. And when mentioning moon, it doesn't mean our Luna, which is a planet sized giant compared to other moons.
@pedromoura1446
@pedromoura1446 11 сағат бұрын
@@TheArklyte 1)sure. It was at most a footnote. StarCraft is 40k but more grounded and toned down so it would make sense for their ships to not be as ridiculous and physics defying as 40k ones... 2) the Spear of adun has around 75km in length... craftworlds are said to be "the size of continents" in more than one occasion and the closest thing to an actual size we get is in "doom of the eldar" were they're described a being "thousands of miles long", not "hundreds of miles" (which is were the spear of adun would fit if we're being generous...) but "thousands". Though i checked and you're right about the darkstone fortress...it is indeed smaller than the largest orbital defense fortresses which are by themselves far smaller than the spear of adun (around 30km if i recall correctly, with some of the largest imperial ships being 20-25 km long). I thought they were the size of the ork attack moons from the war of the beast but apparently not, which came as a surprise to me...

I lived in Boulder. At the time the game design doc was drafted, IBM was probably about as big as Google (is, was) in 2010. So as a game design doc, I'd say noting IBM is a general placeholder for saying large tech companies like Google. Which is funny because Google has a bunch of offices here now. Alongside tech, Boulder also has a massive ton of worldly important environmental science research IRL. All sorts of just random critically important government-science-military things. Like you know those clocks you had in School you'd stare at to count down minutes until class ends? All of those are calibrated via radio signal from Boulder. This is an example of like science-project government-military-research I'm talking about. More specific to Fallout lore / gameplay, there's a ton of research around gov/mil (NASA) material science. So you'd probably have some sort of cutting edge power armor research for game lore here. Extrapolating game lore with IRL, kind of a common ground that both IRL and I think the game would naturally have concluded to is just how elite / expensive everything is there. Which is boring to talk about because everyone knows what expensive is... But more importantly I think are the side effects where anyone in supporting jobs gets pushed out. So like plumbers, restaurant chefs, grocery store workers.... You'll have a lot of people commuting because the pay is a lot higher, but otherwise a lot of the other customers you see are going to be either students or CEOs at the grocery store. The people working there could very well be related to someone super important, or be an extra shift for an underpaid government teacher. The lore here seems to focus on kind of merging the Government science with tech, which is basically like NASA and Google merging. Sounds OK / interesting at face value, but when you actually try to work the details out, that's so bizarre. The simplification is probably good enough for gameplay though as Google does have military contracts for example. At the time this plot was thought up, I think Boulder was a semi hippy town. So a lot of care free people kind of wandering the town and being friendly / sharing things while you have a mix of hardcore elite scientists doing space science things. IRL it has shifted primarily in the mid to later 2010's with Google coming to town which has caused the price of things to skyrocket. As a result, along with Denver, and kind of a chain of side effects you have a somewhat hippy vibe left over but some crime (raiders) coming in to try to take advantage of things as well. I could see Boulder both becoming an off-limits government research city in game, or just leave that to the dome and have the rebelling hippy people kind of policing the area against general trouble. A lot of the real community vibes kind of feel like they got completely lost though and overshadowed by somebody who essentially just read off a wikipedia page of highlights about the city or something, without really understanding the culture.

Finally getting to this from my watch later list, apparently 7 years behind. This intro story is funny because it sort of parallels what happened since 2020 except it gives way too much credit to people taking action / being able to take action and it kind of focuses off problems around the war in particular, with the war being like an AI hallucination if you asked it to consider World War 2 and then come up with ideas for what a next war would be like and what sort of problems they'd have. I've been in CO probably since this video originally came out and I've been in all these cities. This kind of feels like what someone from California would come up with by looking at Colorado on a map and using some News articles from 1945 - 1990 to come up with like plot ideas. People wouldn't live in Denver for Boulder work. You'd live in one of the slightly closer cities to avoid all the traffic and chaos in Denver. In supporting THOSE support cities, people would move to Denver however. It doesn't really make sense to say Denver is exploding directly because of Boulder. You might expand on the airport or like logistics to explain this, I guess, but it's still kind of silly. People also aren't really like patriotic here. This is more of a mix of people ending up here from everywhere, with Denver being a major sanctuary city and central hub logistically. IRL this means a lot of drugs come up not only because of the bit city, but because of its central location. And when drugs come up, you get gangs and gang activity which indeed is what we see IRL. This should've been highlighted better in the lore recap. People here might not even be from this country, hence it's kind of silly to have absolute patriotism. We see people IRL desperate for food too but it turns more into a mad max crime free for all rather than people getting themselves arrested. Hindsight is 20/20 with being able to see sort of similar things happen, but even if I was writing this plot I'd come up with more of a criminal organization plot surrounded by Boulder scientific research / Rocky mountain nuclear weapons shenannigans which was a well known IRL thing at the time of this development, and Colorado Springs with the large military presence. The Denver police could've gotten some military funding in lore and become like Robocop super police because of how lucritive the city is for crime which would make sense. Then they could've been working with the military to test out ideas on some of the population under the justification that crime is out of control. Instead we kind of get this weird lore where people are generally playing by the rules and here's a couple of general theme stereotypes, let's just all go on board with that with no controversy or objection.

Tbh I hoped that Einrich, Jocasta and the artifact acolyte would have served as resource dumps for equipment you no longer need in return for flavour text and lore. And make choices on how their respective bureaus/ministries operate. Jocasta is internal affairs, Einrich is emergency services, chirurgeon is healthcare and confessor is both religion and education if I understand right? Only confessor had an option to change something so far. Would be cool to sponsor Einrich to outfit the liquidators with environmental suits and voidsuits. Maybe they'd get an impact on Warp events akin to Safety rating on colony events?

Personally I would have prefered to have more tiers to research and unlock and stuff to build, makes the game feel bigger. It's also pretty easy to not have it impact that hard in a way that it makes the ressource juggling tedious... just make everything cheaper, and make sale prices more stable to guarantee continuous income through loot. I'd prefer a more "discover and build"-playstyle instead of feeling rushed and hopefully there will be mods adding tons of new equipment and enemies, just to have a continuous inflow of variation.
