Yunnan sourcing has a disgusting bamboo raw, had one taste and its going in the bin. Seems like they just buy any tea if its cheap enough.

Tap water is variable, sometimes its good, other times bad. Mineral/sping water is consistent and where the mineral water comes from changes the experience.

I like a oolong tea that has a distinctive smoky flavor. What region or type of tea do I need to order ? Thanks
@nannuoshan8 күн бұрын
There is no type of oolong that is smoked, to my knowledge. While some farmers may smoke their leaves, it is very rare to smoke oolong, so it is difficult to advise what to buy.

Definitely I will try your Earl Grey. I like this tea type in the past, I had also some top quality one which was made from Nepalese tea black tea (however the oxidation was lighter - maybe only a bit higher than with Darjeeling 2nd flush) with hopefully natural bergamot. It was well balanced. Yunnan black teas are definitely suitable for cold brewing. I was surprised how good it tastes. The sweeter ones are better. Also I had excellent cold brewed 2nd flush Darjeeling. It was perfect summer drink. However for 2nd flush DJ I would say that colder the water is, the better result you get. However, I must do more tests.

The review about this kettle that I was searching for, really professional and informative, thank you for the great video. In Romania this is sold for around ~60 euros (300 lei) while the Fellow Stagg/Corvus, Bonvaita or Brewista go for ~220 euro (1100 lei) so this is a no brainer for me. Can't wait to use it myself!

I just recently ordered some Muzha Tieguanyin from your webstore and it arrived today. I just wanted to say that it is incredibly pleasant, not just in taste and fragrance, but in mouthfeel as well. It has a nice depth to it, and the flavor reminds me of shortbread, toasted cereal grains, peanut shells (which was a very pleasant surprise, as I enjoy chewing on the shells of peanuts), and a very mild hint of butter, among other flavors. I can definitely recommend it to anybody who's considering trying some!

Regarding your question about the competitions: How I know it sometimes works at least for Yancha: Any producer can submit however many teas they want. However every submition has to be paid. Like a submission fee of let‘s say 2000 $ and then every tea sample can take place in the „competition“. However how these competitions work is not like „tea a“ was the best tea so it wins the first price, „tea b“ was the second best so it wins the second price,….. It works like „tea a“ got 96 of 100 points so that would be a first price, „tea b“ got 89 of 100 points so that means second price and „tea c“ got 91 of 100 points so that means first price. It works like that in wine competitions as well

It was nice to be introduced to Nadir, who does video editing and graphic design for Nannoushan, and to learn a bit about his home town of Nabulus, Palestine. The locations in Jordan were also a good change of pace from the urban or wetter rural and forested locations usually showcased in your videos. The background of an acropolis, or even the hillside where you drank tea, radiate a sense of antiquity. Your teas of choice, Ceylon Green, sounds like it edges into oolong territory with its fruity and vanilla profiles, which is a plus for lovers of unoxidized oolongs.

Hello 🙂 again I really appreciate the video. Today I was drinking Lu Ye "Suan Mei Xiang" Hong Oolong as I was watching. So at least I have had a taiwanese tea this time. 😁 The video could be longer, I've got still about two more infusions remaining. 😁 Anyway, now I'm thinking more about taiwanese oolongs. I don't drink them much, however, I should really get some good Dong Ding or other taiwanese oolong with the next order and really dive into it. 🤔 I got inspired.

I bought a nixing teapot along with duanni, zini and jianshui. The nixing is really strong in that mineral puckering or drying effect on the tongue. Will this ever go away? The jianshi is a bit like this but not as strong but still i dont like it. Unusually both the yixing are less like this but i thought they would be worse from ehat i have heard. The duanni has the least effect.

Your videos are a great accompaniment to tea brewing, therefore I like these long. It could last even 3 hours 😊 Sometimes I pick a tea similar to what you brew and then observe the similarities and differences. It is super enjoyable.

I received this as a sample, and I liked it enough I bought more, but as of now I think I got the last 20g in the US site! I see more in the original site, is there any way we could get some over here again? The light tobacco scent and taste is addictive, it’s like a smooth cigar without the super bitter aftertaste.

you throwing the tea after only 2 infusions hurts me

It’s a wild feeling, when you work in the tea industry. Often times there is far more tea to sample and sort through than anyone could reasonably endure drinking regularly haha. Gotta save your caffeine tolerance for the good stuff 😅

Does glass or porcelain actually taste better than clay? Thats my experience
@gabokurokiАй бұрын
It depends on your taste and on the tea, I would say. Yixing clay usually give more body and smooth down the taste
@rebirthofthecool5619Ай бұрын
@@gabokuroki surely if your tea is pinnacle quality, you won't want or need to change it's character. Taking away bitterness or astringency would just make the tea less interesting and bland.

Best is to check the Taiwan oolong and black tea collections and look for product pages that include a section about Ryan in the description. Some of his teas should be out already, more should come in the next months
@portugalas4986Ай бұрын
how do you find these contacts who is meeting you and helping around?
@gabokurokiАй бұрын
I have been sourcing tea locally for more than ten years and, over the years, collect hundreds of tea contacts and out of this huge network is easy to get even more new contacts. Moreover, I like to go to tea producing area and just explore around, ask people, taste tea, make questions that are important for me and judging the answer to see if I want to cooperate with them or not. Usually, my main focus is to understand how sincere they are and how much they disclose.
@christineyee2117Ай бұрын
I think viewers would love if you put a link or even a note on each write up of the teas you purchased on your tea sourcing trips to the video where you tasted it. When I look at your website, I wonder which of the teas are those I saw you sample during your videos.

Hi, thanks for asking. We usually put links, when teas shown on the videos were selected and are already online. Alternatively, feel free to ask if there is something you like but cannot find

Hello! I would like to know what material your Bonavita is made of inside? What is in contact with water? I have a SMEG brand kettle, and I see the interior as being made of another material that is not steel. I am also suspicious to see the proposition 65 warning on the box that warns that it can cause cancer or infertility problems due to the materials.
@nannuoshanАй бұрын
I don’t have the Bonavita anymore, but I am nearly sure that the inside is exactly like the outside, steel. It is just a single sheet of steel, coated neither on the inside nor on the outside.
