To move the printhead to the centre, open the scanner cover, press and hold the X for around 10 seconds, the printhead should move to the middle. I have a Brother MFC J5320DW and it works on it.

It's amazing how indestructible Brother printers are. My DCP-357C, after (at least) 11 years of sitting in the attic, is coming back to life. It was printing blank pages, but after flushing the printhead, with each cleaning cycle, the test print is getting closer and closer to perfection. Thanks for the tips!

I have a question. I have a Brother MFC-J5520DW and I tried cleaning the nozzles the same way you showed by plugging a tube onto the ink intake port, except I used warm water. My Cyan was the one that was the most clogged and when I pressed the syringe not much was happening, only a tiny bit of Cyan was coming out onto the paper towel, then all of the sudden all the water from the syringe started squirting out of the Yellow intake port while it was plugged into the Cyan port. I played with it a little bit then water started coming out of the Magenta and Black ports... Is that normal, or did I brake something by giving it more pressure?

Does this work for blurred printing? Mine is printing half a page of blurred text and the other half is fine. Please help!

It only fixes missing segments in the test print page. There might be an 'alignment' option in your printer's menu that fixes blurring though

It got worse and I wonder why... :S if I had some black bricks on the test page, before this procedure, after the cleaning with a Printhead cleaning solution I got no black brick at all. Moreover some of the red and yellow bricks are now missing as well... I have performed the Cleaning function several times and again nothing happens... I injected 4 ml of solution two times, the first time it was at room temperature and the second it was warmed in hot water. The black color has just dissapeared. :S

Am I the only one to whom this method has failed? Followed through revert instruction but now my printer is printing worst than before. First no ink at all came out and now only magenta and yellow do. I’ve done like 8 cleaning cycles..

It sounds like the cartridges are a bit low (they need to be at least half-full to prime the head. Or, more likely, that there's air in the head. There are instructions in the troubleshooting about this but you're really just trying to inject a small amount of fluid to displace any air that's in the head.
@micaiahiam

@@anightin replaced ink cartridges and forced a bit of fluid into the head taking care no air was in the tube, ran several cleaning cycles but still no blue. I must have messed something up in the process.

How can you tell which printers this works for? Adapters? I have a HP Photosmart D7300, the 6 individual cartridges are not directly riding on the print head, but are installed horizontally and stationary.

So far so good. I was really struggling getting the rubber tubing on to the print nozzle. I found putting the tubing in an empty biro body was great to use as a guide, then connected the other end to the syringe after getting the air out.

Any advice if you can't push any fluid through due to resistance , if you pull slightly it snaps back due to a vacuum. Will it just take weeks to slowly do it? It's been unused for sometime and yellow that's blocked.

This is a really good printer kzbin.infoUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 . The reason I gave 4 stars for tech support (which I don't think this would classify as tech support) is because once you turn the printer on, it does require a little bit of start up time which may bother some who are in a hurry to quickly print something. To offset that though the printer prints very quickly. I would definitely purchase this printer again.

I have an Epson WF3640. When the print check started showing missing lines I cleaned print head with a cleaning solution I bought on Amazon. I thought I was really doing something because so much ink came out of the print head. I even waited and repeated the process the next day until cleaning solution came through almost clear. To my surprise the print quality was even worse than before. Way worse. What am I missing?

Do you have a kit for the mfc j995dw? The nozzles on the j995dw appear to be designed like a valve stem on a tire. Would need a very special tube to press the center piece out of the way to allow for cleaner to enter.

I tried this to sort out alignment issues but to no avail and to be fair this wasn't what this video is for. But I was willing to try anything. This video deserves a thumbs up as it's great for those who are suffering from blocked print heads and I will probably order the kit just as a backup. The built-in manual & auto alignment didn't work either. What did the trick was this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYK9ZJiuZceqrcU

Very clear and useful instructions! I successfully carried this out on my MFC-985dw printer. Per another post, I used regular Windex to flush with, as I didn't have access to special cleaning solution (not heated) . I also blotted the "resting" sponge on the left-hand side several times with a paper towel saturated with WIndex to remove most of the ink that had filled it up.

The kit worked! I'm so impressed on my Brother MFC-J650DW printer. I found the video to be more useful than the printed instructions. A few comments / suggestions. It's messy, so wear the gloves for sure, and wrap up the cartridges upon removing them, because one or more will leak. I had no trouble placing a folded paper towel in the printhead track and moving the printhead over it. I found the tubing to be a bit tight to get onto the nozzle, so I made a very short cut in the end, which helped. There was some leakage into the cartridge area, which I dabbed up before reinserting the cartridges. After finishing the procedure and doing a test print, the result was pretty ugly, and part of the colours were washed out due to the cleaning fluid (too much used?). However, after running the normal cleaning process three times, everything was perfect. I've been using clone ink, and I now wonder if that's why the printhead became clogged. I really appreciate this product -- saved me from discarding a printer that is perfectly good otherwise.

I'm a teacher, and I inherited a Brother DCP-T300 from a guy who went overseas. I took it to my office at school. Test prints showed that the black and yellow print heads in particular were clogged. I ordered a cleaning kit online. The process seemed promising for the magenta and cyan heads, but I didn't seem to get any suction resistance when attempting to clean the yellow and black heads. Has anyone ever experienced that? Later that day, the yellow and black inks leaked all through the bottom of the printer, causing a huge mess. I re-cleaned everything and attempted print head cleaning again. Then I cautiously partly re-filled the yellow and black containers and attempted test printing again but got "Unable to Print" error, and the containers leaked all over the desk and printer again. I've heard that I can re-open the printer and clean a ribbon, but that won't solve the leaking and lack of suction for the yellow and black cartridges. Any suggestions?

When injecting the alcohol, the syringe was very hard to press and withdraw. I worked it this way numerous times. Still bad printing. Finally, I more forcefully injected the alcohol and then heard a "POP." I thought the black ink line had detached somewhere or the print head was now unclogged I could then easily inject and withdraw the alcohol. And, i could hear air being forced out of the print head. And then, after several cleaning cycles, by the machine, my black print is outstanding! I determined that the "POP" I heard was a valve or clog that was opened up.
