Yooo for your table and drawer setup, have you tried modifying the rear door so hinges open outward more? Maybe a light disconnect or longer wires etc. just a thought

Excellent video I know that area quite well That Area that you and your buddies were swimming. Not a good place. It is downstream from the Leviathan. Mine run off which goes directly in to the East Fork of the Carson river. If you go upstream closer to the hot Spring, you are okay. If you Google Leviathan mine, you can see the contamination. In the contayment pools and when it rains even to this day, it spills over and goes into the East Fork of the Carson river, so you shouldn't swim and definitely do not eat the fish if you're downstream over that inner's the Carson.

I have been camping and four wheeling in that area For more than 30 years. I know. Exactly where you were on the river. And you need to be careful in that part of the river. It is downstream from Leviathan mine run off which is very, very bad. You're not supposed to swim or fish and Definitely do not eat the fish in that portion of the river. If you go upstream closer to the hot Spring, you'll be fine.

Ya, you make a great point. I think all the equipment I had at that time did add up to maybe around $2,500? Not 100% sure, but … my setup then was truly not minimalist in the classic sense of the term. What I was meaning was that I could fit all my gear inside my Jeep while still being able to sleep in there at the same time. I try not to focus on the overall spend that people are making - - more so I focus on 1) if they love it, 2) if it’s healthy for them mentally and 3) if they use what they buy. Having a bunch of stuff that’s overkill is indeed pointless. Though I have seen a pizza oven on the trail and it was AWESOME! AHAHHAH, so … I guess it’s a balance in my mind. @TrailNewbie we made base camp for three days at the Gunnison National Forest camp. We spent a little time hikingthat last day and saw smoke over the mountains quite a ways to our NE. We had plans to set camp the next day about 70 miles NE at Twin Lakes. We stopped at a trading station for fuel and asked the attendant about the smoke (we had very little to no cell or internet accesd). He advised us of the large forest fire at Twin Lakes. We planned to take the back roads through the mountains and forests to that destination. Had we done so, it would have delivered us right in the thick of the fire. A StarLink would have given us valuable information. We got lucky.

Questions: - How tall are you? I am 5’10”, so assuming you’re taller? - Any condensation issues? - What’s the coldest outdoor temperature you have overnighted in your Jeep? What was the inside temperature when that happened? - Could it be modified to allow for two people to sleep?
@TrailNewbie
@TrailNewbie 8 күн бұрын
Great questions - - I’ll answer them in order - 6’4” tall - Yes, there will be condensation issues in the winter. I’ve just sort of gone with it - - I do leave some windows cracked and I have DeepSleep window screens that I put over them so bugs or other things can’t get in. I’ve now begun using a diesel heater; which is the VERY best way to kill condensation. Just be cautious using one in an enclosed vehicle - - always have a CO sensor so you can avoid danger. - Coldest I’ve ever slept in was 7 degrees so 25 degrees below freezing. I did not have any sort of heater running at that time, so it was just as cold inside the Jeep as outside. - This setup would be hard to modify for two to sleep, as you would need to figure out where to put your gear. However, if you are good with putting your gear outside, check out this video of mine back when I did just that - I slept on a two person DeepSleep inside the Jeep for the first few years and it was awesome!! Link to video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnqThHdto56Cgs0si=1xmIdKOZfd5Alq3g and, it’s the greatest campsite in California! 💯 Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

@ wow thank you so much Greg for answering my questions. I am considering several options and what is great about going with a Jeep is it far more stealth and less expensive than buying a truck camper or building a trailer with a camping pod. Like you said it’s already setup, this gives you more time to spend enjoying the outdoors.

I've always consider one of the Ursa minors tops. I am wondering, why did you pick that instead of a rack and tent setup? Is it mostly a one person size or could you actually fit two in it comfortably? I was always thinking, how would my wife and I get in here from inside the Jeep. Seems if you had two maybe a ladder is a better idea?
@TrailNewbie
@TrailNewbie 8 күн бұрын
Great questions! I chose the UM because 1) I felt like it really was less of a depreciating asset (you can resell them and make decent money), 2) it is lower profile and lower weight than a rack and tent (generally speaking) and 3) I just love how you can pass through from the tent to inside the vehicle if you need something from the fridge, etc. There’s nothing else like it!! It really makes your rig into a micro camper. Yes, two can sleep in there comfortably, but … you’d need to really like each other 😉 You should watch the channel 395jnky. Daniel and Tish are friends of mine and they have been camping out of a UM for many years - both sleeping in there. That being said, it does help that they are smaller fit folks. In order to get both of you in there, indeed a ladder would work. But it’s not necessary. Just takes a little flexibility to get up in there and put the hatch back in place. For me, it’s the best piece of equipment I’ve ever bought. I’d buy all over again 100%. Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃
