Couple things. 1) The more grain weight on the auger, the harder it is to crank, (I would assume) have you run into that? 2) Fresh ground flour is only good for about 30 days from what I hear before losing it's fresh flavor. How do you store yours?

I see you have a large plastic funnel laying on the ground. What I did was to cut the bottom of a plastic bucket so you basically have a large tube which happens to fit perfectly inside that large transfer funnel. The funnel then just sits in the provided hopper. I brew 5 gallon batches and this simple setup easily holds 15 pounds of grain. I have also built a simple wooden frame that the mill can sit very low in another bucket with the bolt which I chuck into my drill just above the lip of the holding bucket. I just acquired a motor from a treadmill and am thinking about adding a pulley in place of the handle as my next mod.

So there are different types of hops here. I'm under the impression that to be a SMaSH (Single Malt and Single Hops) beer it needs to be only one type....

I have a similar problem. I tried to use your solution, however on my phone, which is an Android, but not Motorola Droid, the disable button was....disabled. So my problem continues. Suggestions, anyone?
@MrSparty19959 жыл бұрын
You may want to call them like I had to, this was the solution they had me try for my specific phone. Unfortunately too, I have to do this from time to time, it's not a full time fix. Cheers.

Can I just say I love you right now haha <3 I would NEVER have thought about attaching a mill to a piece of board and putting it over a bucket but seriously you're genius. I was thinking about buying a mill like this to grind wet corn into masa and one of my concerns is my countertop. Well this not only fixes that but I could watch tv and grind corn this way lol ^_^

Hey! My dad and I were just talking about you! We were wondering where you went, but knew you had a busy summer on the go. Great to see you though! We still have your ciders, since we wanted to make sure you were going to be able to catch the vids when we have them. Don't worry about vids, just do them when you can. We'll be here and tune in. glad to see you back! have you tried the "cider" yeast from white labs? i saw it the other day at my lhbs. cheers
@MrSparty199510 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I have used the Cider yeast from WYeast before. It still took the cider down to 1.000 and dried it out. Pretty much the same way the wine yeasts did. From now on I will be using beer yeast for cider, and trying to take it down to 1.010 area, to leave a little bit of sweetness and get the alcohol % around 8 - 10%. I was quite happy with both Wyeast 1968 London ESB and Wyeast 1728 Scottish Ale. Next time I will try US05 as well and see how that works. Cheers.

Great Vid... Just a quick question.. How many cups of sugar would you need to BATCH Prime a 5gal. Batch Of cider?... ( I have always bottle primed..but would like to try batch priming) Thanx....Keep the vids comin CHEERS
@MrSparty199510 жыл бұрын
I have tried it multiple ways. You could try it with 1/2 cup sugar, that you have brought to a boil in water and cooled down. You can google batch priming amounts for a more accurate amount if you want. Or you could also try 1 or 2 cans of 100% Frozen Concentrate Apple Juice that you have thawed out. The time I did it, I used 2 cans. Cheers hope that helps.

I was sad to see comments that the beer was flat and no head. I was telling Nate that I accidentally over carbed when I was trying to bottle using the beer gun it was foaming like mad. So I let the keg sit at low CO2 for a couple days to try and get the carb down and I think that might have a little reason why you guys are getting flatter beers. It sounds like the flavor and aroma are hitting the marks, if it smells and tastes like a pumpkin pie then I succeeded. Thanks for the review, Cheers!
@MrSparty199510 жыл бұрын
Yes, you still did a great job with the beer. I enjoyed it. Cheers.

The hub of BIPAs for sure. Three black IPAs is crazy for one region, but we did have a pretty nice variety I thought. Would have been nice to see a porter in the mix. I got a lot more malts on this one than hops... Very cold to see the different palates picking things up. Cheers!!

Good Review. This was my first Pumpkin Ale also. I think that the pumpkin fruit kills the head a bit. After it warmed a bit it seemed like it formed more head. I pictured an actual Pumpkin Cream Pie when I tried it.

Well thank you sir! If you did indeed drink it all night, you would be feeling no pain ;) at 8.4% she'll sneak up on ya. Thanks for the kind words. I agree it needs some more carb.
