McGinn has lost some of tbe dressing room I think (no proof just a hunch on my part). He slated Duran in a tv interview late last season. No dount Duran was a problem but you deal with it behind closed doors. Possibly lost some respect from our younger players after they witnessed it. Maybe a young/senior divide in some places? We need to make Emi Martinez captain and find some unity and silver ware. I think McGinn has taken us as far as he can in terms of captaincy.

Liv had about 4/5 attempts on goal ,, Villa just not clinical , should have had 2 pens ..On Sunday Forest game exactly the same push in the back , free kick../75 min … Got to watch break from our corners , credit to Liv on their speed of break .. Villa are good , be alright in a minute …

Lack of pace n lack of incisive passing.. The sales of diaby and Dougie are coming home to roost. Selling the dictator of our play was suicidal, surely we could have raised the funds else where. We are now only left with youri and pau who are even close to elite passers in the team. Dougie was only behind emi and Watkins in importance to our team in my opinion (arguably konsa). The loss of diaby is amplified by Watkins and Bailey both looking slower this season. Not sure on the short term answer for lack of pace but id be starting Duran for olly at the moment. But id be moving tielemans forward n playin barkley and kamara in the pivot

There is nothing wrong with Aston Villa. They are already punched above their weight.

I do think gelling new starting-elevens together with injured players returning has unbalanced us more than we might realise; both 'new' players coming back and those making way are struggling to adapt.. I’d still rather have Ming’s around than Carlos. Mings has been making some insane clearances. And blocks. Carlos is the problem you can tell he does not care, absolutely zero urgency

I take the point that yesterday was “not as bad” as recent performances but do you not think Liverpool basically brushed us off in first gear? That was walking pace from them at times

I had the thought that this slump in performances and results has coincided with us having pretty much a full squad of 20+ available for the first time. Maybe, with Emery's rotations, it's just that the players have to get used to having different colleagues around them? If it is as simple as that, then by the time the second half of the season comes around, we should be up to speed as clubs with lesser squads start struggling. Keep the faith. There's a long way to go yet. UTV Ps we do need to sort out the right side of the defence though.

We've always concieded but we where always capable of scoring but now our front players for whatever reason are looking like complete strangers. Bailey looks like hes playing in mud and Watkins looks like his head is gone. Fans are fickle so Unai needs to be wary as this cant go on. If we dont beat Palace I fear for the reaction as having a taste of success this would be nothing short of a collapse and football is brutal. This is an absolutely bizzare turn of events considering we have a fully fit squad?? And 11:10 , I agree.

i dont think Carlos is only trying in big games , i think its the structure , he cant mark consistently , he doesn't tackle often , he certainly cant defend when players are given space around him, he is stuffed when the forwards have room/ when he is isolated , but his positioning is excellent the term people use now is 'get the spacing right' we used to call it getting tight and covering each other in the games we have that structure, the 5 at the back, 6 at the back or really tight banks of 4 6thats when his positioning and know how works well,, but in open games he will often be exposed

Rodger’s is the real deal setting the pace and loves to push forward, link up play is beautiful and knows where a good pass is. If Watkins could finish all these sitters he misses we’d literally win the league no joke. Teams solid af now I’d probably tweak the defence and I’d say sell Mings we don’t need him. Too much of a liability.

Great episode. It really has been a "pinch me" week. It's beyond surreal when I think back to the Steve Bruce era in the Championship to where we are now. I was too young to appreciate coming close to UTD in the first "Prem" season and only really started understanding & going to games during the Mcgrath-Yorke-Dion Dublin eras. This is the most I've ever enjoyed being a Villa fan. It completely eclipses the time under O'Neil, as good as that was. Villa in the Champions League genuinely looked like something I'd never see in my lifetime just 6 years ago. Even back in the prem under Smith & the Gerrard horror show, UCL/top 4 still seemed like a pipe-dream whenever I thought logically about how hard it is to break the top 4 with the PSR restrictions & NUFC adding to the teams we have to finish above. Pride is the keyword you mentioned in this poscast. We've been through so much heartache.. I'm so grateful to Unai & these players for giving us this experience. Long may it last!
