Great video, really well presented. Are the haldex units generally saveable once they start scrabbling or is that a sign of a worn out unit?

Very good... I'd have put hose sintered plates in oil for a few hours before fitting them, give them a chance when filled with oil and started.

This coupling was sent by courier to Ireland so it was assembled dry with a note to say soak it before installation - I will pin this comment as you have raised a very valid point!

Hi Matt, thanks for taking the time to make and share these fantastic videos, they really explain how to properly service and clean what seems like a daunting complicated bit of kit which is actually fairly simple. Can I ask, is there a DIY way to clean the n373 valve? Are you pulsing it by applying 12v to the terminals or is there more to it than that? I'd imagine blow out the holes with compressed air / brake and clutch cleaner would be the 2nd best option? Your haldex control repair for our Tiguan was perfect. 😊
@autofaultfinder4839Ай бұрын
You could blow it out and put some power to it to open the spindle inside. Its better than nothing. The cleaner we use pulses the valve at high frequencies that's why it buzzes and it varies the 100% of the on v's off of the square wave that's driving it (pwm). Its based on an injector testing controller.

Hi Matt. Once again excellent video, i note you used new plates but can the originals be used if in good condition, am i correct in my thinking if myself or any other owner need to service the Haldex like this that you do offer that service, thank you Steve Arctic.

Currently we do not offer it as a service but will be doing so in the future.

I have a 2009 FL2 that seems to randomly lose power / drive when accelerating from cold. seems okay when it's warmed up a bit, could this be a fault with the Haldex unit or does it just need a service?

I have changed the haldex filter in 2 VW Tiguan's that I own. Both time I spent ages trying to fit the white nylon bush to no avail! Even tried to use a G clap to force it in. But it wouldn't fit! I ended up refitting the old nylon bung in each case. Now I know why!!!!!! Both cars are 14 years old now and destined to be traded in but in future I will remember to order the genuine parts!

Do you know if all Haldex 5 cars do the min max cycle after the initial run? I have a 2018 Audi RS3 - 0CQ, it does to the first slow ramp part and all values are good, but it doesn't do the fast ramps afterwards. Is this normal or is there a problem? I don't think my haldex is working.

Hi Mat. Is it possible to get some sort of cleaner into the accumulator by soaking / spraying judiciously in one of the galleys and position the unit to soak both sides of the piston removing the possible gunk build up? Or Would it be possible to force the accumulator to exercise pushing a cleaner instead of oil to do like a flush on the bench without damaging the pump etc. then drain, flush with oil and then reassemble and fill properly? I’m not juddering but wish to pull down my Haldex and just give it a full once over and prevent / eliminate anything preventatively as it’s never been serviced and is at 60k now and I’m getting a hear whining sound from somewhere so going to go through all fluids and services first. Thank you for an excellent informative video.

Hello! watched your video! thank you very informative. I have a Freelander 2 2008 Haldex 4 and I can’t fix my Haldex, the pump works constantly and blocks the rear wheels when turning, it works for 5-10 minutes and error P0961-62 pops up for the valve. Could this mean that the accumulator piston is jammed and is not releasing pressure? I disassembled the clutch and washed it, changed the filter, installed the original Volvo, changed the electric valve, checked the microcircuit, changed the oil again. Can the pump constantly pump into the electric valve due to a jammed accumulator? thank you for your work 🤝
