23mm x 30mm was the size of the "Men's variant" original Tank Normale/Luis. So it makes sense. Cartier are still making them faithful to the original in size. The original "women's variant" was smaller at 20mm x 28mm.

We didn't want to replicate an exact specimen. We wanted to look at the original as a reference point. We also wanted to create something with an in-house movement while also keeping the case dimensions more true to size and much thinner than current production offerings :)

This is a beautiful watch and I love the size but I’m a bit confused about the combination of a manual wind + screw down crown. Doesn’t this put unnecessary wear on the threads of the case since you have unscrew it everyday? Maybe I’m missing something.
@craftandtailored22 сағат бұрын
The intention behind that was to create a simple movement that would allow the wearer to connect with the watch by placing their own energy and to allow the wearer to connect with it differently. The modern machining of the tube threads and crown wouldn't nesacairly put any additional stress on these components; of course, It is a different process, but even with vintage automatic watches, if they run out of power or run low, adding a little extra juice to the mainspring, is often helpful. Additionally, a fair amount of vintage divers from this era used their mechanical movements, and I always connected with the simplicity of the movements they used during this time.

@@craftandtailored Thanks for the detailed response. I also noticed the dark arrow on the seconds hand. Was there a reason C+T went with this instead of the original design?
@craftandtailored22 минут бұрын
@@soulside Indeed, it was a way to highlight the sweep seconds hand for a bit more visibility; the gold hand seemed to blend into the dial, and the black outline of the hand modernized the design while also sticking with the 3 tones of the dial design.

Is there a reason why some dive watches have countdown bezel?
@ItsNeverTooHot4LeatherКүн бұрын
For some (like the Tudor FXD), it's to time diver movements underwater from one waypoint to another. That bezel function can be used for military applications.

It got a lot of things right, I just wish it didn’t have a countdown bezel. If it has a screw down crown then manual winding every morning is a bit of a nuisance. If no screw down, then I like the manual wind, I think that’s a cool move.
@craftandtailoredКүн бұрын
Really appreciate the feedback sincerely!! I personally like manual wind movement. There is something about putting my energy into that watch for the time I'm going to wear it that always resonates with me personally but I do get your point 100%. Additionally, a fair amount of vintage divers from this era actually used their mechanical movements, and I always connected with the simplicity of the movements they used during this time. Additionally, in most cases, if I'm not wearing a watch constantly that uses an automatic movement and has a screw-down crown, I'll unscrew the crown to properly charge the mainspring before wearing it. I will do this occasionally while wearing something automatic, even if out of habit. The countdown bezel was something that was displayed on the original, and it was a nod to the DNA of the original 🙂 Really appreciate the insight and honest feedback here!!

Wow! I’m a bit star struck honestly! Thanks for writing back. Please don’t get me wrong, the design of the watch alone would make me not think twice about the minor things I that don’t work for me. My wife has 3 zodiac watches and I’ve always been jealous. I’d like to see more about this one, who knows, it might be the one I land on. Love your channel and only hear good things about people’s watch buying experience about you.

@@jonboy8181 Haha, of course, at the end of the day, im just a dude who loves watches and has a deep passion for all things horology and the community that supports this passion. I try to get in, respond to all the comments, and take the feedback genuinely, but it can sometimes be hard to catch and see everything, especially with how fast everything moves. Zodiac has always been cool, fun, and relatively affordable without leaving the substance and history behind, and that's why I started collecting vintage ones in the first place. It's easy to get into how much something costs or how rare it is or to have a negative opinion, and that's one of the things I dislike most about the watch world. So this was my way of connecting with something I loved and providing a modern take on what was a benchmark for the Zodiac brand all together. Maybe see if you can take one of your wife's watches for a test drive 🤪

As a vintage-obsessed person, I agree, but vintage is sometimes practical for modern-day life, so that is why we wanted to pull from the archive while making something unique and interesting that displays Zodiac's modern watchmaking capability!

The 5-link bracelet and the t-fit clasp are two different items, they are in no way correlated… the 5-link is just a bracelet option and the t-fit clasp refers to tudor’s version of an on-the-fly adjustable clasp, they can just as well be bought on the 3-link🤷🏼♂️

For the last 3 or so years I have traveled all around the world and made many memories (good and bad). I’ve lost friends and met new ones, fell out of love and in love with someone new, taken risks and been rewarded, made mistakes and learned from them, and turned over a new decade of my life. So many things have changed ,and the only constant has been my black bay 58. Every scratch, every ding, every blemish tells a story. Having dealt with a lot of loss in that period it’s one of the only things that still remain, and everytime I look down at it on my wrist it reminds me how strong I really am. It reminds me of all the good and the bad things you have to face in life and that’s what makes life beautiful. Call me a sucker for nostalgia or being too anthropomorphic, but I believe that’s what watches and our insane love for an antiquated technology is all about.

The Tudor Pelagos 39 is the only modern diver from Tudor that invokes the spirit of the Tudor Submariner snowflake. The dimensions. The snowflake hands w/ the snowflake markers. The submariner triplock crown (it is a triplock). The submariner case. None of the black bays or other Pelagos watches does it. Only the P39. Which is why I have it.
