The NBA was suffering viewership because of the product Bird and Magic made it Celtics v Lakers, people tuned into watch. Clark is doing the same for the WNBA, Clark is selling out arena's both at home and on the road. Because of Clark the WNBA is relevant to more people and that results in eyes on product.

There are a lot of reasons Clark is so popular. One of them, like Bird, is that she is white, in a game dominated by so many talented black players. We expect the superstar black players. That is a compliment to them. But she would not be popular if she wasn't also exciting to watch, a fantastic shooter and passer who makes the players around her better, a clutch player and a flair for the dramatic. The fascination with Bird's color never left 100% but became secondary, a foolish topic, and it will be the same for Clark.
