Clark reminds me of Bird in how he "handled" the media. Bird (while in the NBA) and now, Clark, ignore the comments by press, other organizations and individuals. Clark does not respond publicly about the faults, failures, or slights of, and by, other players. She keeps her mouth shut. In Bird's era, there was no internet so there was no social media as a conduit of abuse. Both of them use the best tactic against abuse; IGNORE. Even when retired, Bird kept his mouth shut except for praising other player's talent. With one exception; to paraphrase, "I don't like Bill LambBill Laimbeer, he'd try to hurt you." And another paraphrase (Bird) directed at sports writers, "I don't care what you write or say, I don't read listen to your comments". I don't care.

You no nothing about Larry Bird. He didn't ignore comments by players or media. He always spoke his mind and took shit from no one. Also known as one of the biggest basketball trash talkers ever. If he said "I don't listen or watch or care about what is said, that there is a push back to a reporter. That is a reaction CC has never made. Do your homework and see how Larry Bird reacted to negative comments about him. I watched him play all his career and never seen him take the high road except for some occasions reporters tried to get him to react to questions about race. It's fantastic that many fans of CC watch her play against other WNBA teams. But do they watch games she doesn't participate? If the Fever loses in the playoffs will her fans continue to watch remainder of playoffs ? Being a basketball fan automatically makes me a fan of CC. She's a wonderful player who will go on to be a Superstar. So I truly and hopefully nothing like this ever happens to her but if she has an injury that keeps her out for a whole season, will her fans still watch WNBA games that year ? CC's fans as well as bringing positivity to the WNBA have also brought negativity. They make statements and claims, that are absurd (like yours about Bird ) about basketball and WNBA history. Most quite frankly are ignorant about WNBA, it's history and basketball in general.. She hasn't played a full season and her fans have crowned her ROY ( which I believe she'll win and deserves all though Reese has had a great rookies season also ), MVP, greatest WNBA player ever, outraged she wouldn't be on Olympic Team, have posted on Tik Tok or You Tube statistical comparisons to other player current or in history but never post any negative stats like turnovers. Some blame her teammates not being able to catch her passes. Which implies her teammates from Iowa could do what her Fever teammates can't. How about the fact that WNBA players are much better athletes and defenders than those in college. Since they were the best college basketball had to offer. Some overreact if something negative is said about her. Or are over zealous to say the least if she's fouled hard, pushed or bump. Most of her fans could care if another player pushed , fouled hard bumped. Then there's The statements about how other WNBA players hate and and are jealous of CC. There isn't hatred or jealousy. It's resentment. From the CC fan's singular following of 1 player and no others. Knowledge about only one team in WNBA. Over extra coverage from all sports media outlets. The feeling that their accomplishments this season aren't being recognized to the abundance that CC's are. This is why some WNBA players resent her. Not hate not jealously. Players in all sports don't hate or are jealous of talent. They respect talent. Most of CC 's fans are not fans. They're groupies. Not fans of basketball but fans of just one player. Not the game. Not it's history. Just one white player. Oh yes, many of CC's fans follow her because she's white. Since Obama was elected and then followed up by Trump election. The racists have risen from the shadows. First because their extreme distaste that a President was elected that was non white. Then exhilarated they had a champion in Trump. There's no outright statements about how they feel. Just a following and loyalty what makes them feel good. Feel proud. Feel vindicated. Feel vindicated for no reason. Just a fabrication on being treated unfairly. They feel they were disrespected. Like WNBA players feel disrespected from CC's fans and sport media outlets. Theirs a resentment towards non whites from CC's fans and Trump loyalists ( obviously not all, but enough that makes a difference ). This isn't fair for CC. All she's trying to to is be the best basketball player she can be. To be the best teammate. To play for her fans. Unfortunately for her she's been put in the middle of her fans and sport media outlets against many other WNBA players. She's not responsible. What choice does she have but to try to be respectful and courteous to both sides. She doesn't need this unnecessary pressure. Bird never had this type of pressure. Her fans cause controversy by making outrageous statements, claims and attacking a player or sport media outlet if they hear or see what they perceive as negativity towards her. These are groupues of a player, not fans of game of basketbal, or it's history. While televised sports media, podcasts and radio sport talk shows see $'s with all new followers. Not wanting to lose these new followers, topics involving CC are seldom negative. If so, not for any length of time. Her turnovers are rarely discussed. These sport outlets don't want to lose followers or sponsors. So instead of trying to be fair,, they fuel the fire between CC's fans and fans of WNBA who resent the intense adoration CC receives. It's disappointing so far to me what type of fans of CC are. I was hoping for a an excitement about WNBA and it's players. Not just for one player. As far as as sports media outlets are concerned, I've always know what they're are. Arrogant lowlife who belive they know it all and their opinions matter.

@@proudsellout484 How about comparing skills to skills, plays to plays, game to game. When talking about people playing a similar game, how they play is what matters. When comparing a players impact on the game or how valuable they are, then taking position into account becomes important. A Lakers guard once said in a interview when asked who he would rather guard, Jordan, or, Bird, without hesitation he said Jordan! That "Lakers guard" would be James Worthy (SF) I believe. To me what makes CC similar to Bird is the way she reacts to negativity. She steps it up. In the late Bird era, with a broken back, even MJ would tell his younger teammates to leave Larry alone. The last thing you wanted was a overconfidente rookie to poke the bear. MJ had learned the hard way that you don't want to face a pissed off Larry. Ever. Even in '91. CC is sort of teaching the same lesson. So far no one has managed to get in her head (and they tried). She responds by playing even better. Then yeah, the IQ. Both LB and CC have it. Basketball IQ activates immedately that's why as a rookie Larry ended up 4th in MVP voting. I don't know but CC definitely could do the same or better this season. She could be 2nd. They'd never give it to her of course and Wilson is a strong deserving player anyway.

Thank you for this video. Bird was probably the only player that could wear a suit while playing. He always knew where everyone was. Kept the ball in motion and was faster at shooting and passing. Many of the women players try too hard to look like the fellas. Caitlin could wear a dress and still make plays.

Would love to see Larry Bird mentor CC:) Both had stellar college careers and sensational rookie seasons! Larry Bird was ROTY and 4th in the MVP voting in his rookie season and between 1981 to 1988 finished 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd and 2nd in MVP voting till Larry was crippled by injuries :( Lets hope another cheap shot to CC doesn't impact her career!

She resembles the Legend by so many ways. Her Step Back which Bird perfected. Will be Rookie of the year same as Bird. Very able to knock down 3 pointers and her floor management. All resemble Bird to a tee. The only different is the position they play. Clark-guard and Bird-small forward.

What a pleasure to see the Masters playing🤩. You put lots of production hours, noted. This is a one in a generation athlete, lets take care of these rare jewel people. She is doing a lot behind the scenes❤❤❤❤Much blessings. Mom, Dad, you need to retire time now, your job is done. You have created a tremendous athlete and human being. You should get an all inclusive pass to every resort world-wide. I think CC can afford it😂😂😂😂

CC does remind me of Bird. She sees the floor, can shoot the lights out, great passer, etc. One difference though, if Bird got hacked his teammates would be all over the guy who committed the foul. CC's teammates haven't had her back.

I’ve been comparing her to Bird, with a dash of Pistol Pete, from the beginning. It isn’t all about 3-pointers, Caitlin Clark runs the floor like a general and she can play. Next year’s WNBA will be much faster and the sloths of old will go by the wayside. She is changing the way the game is played in the WNBA.
