As everyone is saying: It's amazing that you can feel sympathy for such an objectively evil, monstrous creature as Kefka... but as soon as he talks about hope and where such concepts come from and go... it's as if he's terrified of feeling his own emotions and stuffs it so far deep into his heart that he continuously suffocates his own sanity under a pillow of hate-- both self-imposed and outwardly aimed hatred. I wish we could get a FFVIIR treatment for FFVI... and many others in the franchise.

Kuja did not "die"; when they are defeated, they are returned to their universes without any memory of Dissidia. None of them "die". They are competing for the crystals on a team. Cosmos and her warriors vs Chaos and his. The goal is to beat either side and claim the crystal so that the winning side can maintain power. When they lose, they are sent back to their timelines with no memory of the events of Dissidia

After watching the latest "FF" today, I had to return to "FF 2" and "Tactics". And it is as I suspected. The thing is, "FF 2" and "FF: Tactics" were also based on "Game of Thrones" (or at least it was similar to the point the fandom makes constant comparisons between the show and the two "FFs"). This game doesn't feel right. It feels like a reboot/copy paste of sorts of both games. Olivier for example is an inferior copy of Emperor Matheus. Because the Emperor was actually a fascinating character to study. With Olivier, we only got a puppet to look at until Ultima shows up. Where's the fun in that ? And the political conflict ? "Tactics" handled it better. Dycedarg for example was a sick strayegist. Clive and Joshua's mother is simply a Karen like most people pointed out. Nothing special that makes her a fantasy level villain. I might as well have watched some soap opera if all she was gonna be was a toxic housewife/mother figure.

Kefka's heart wasn't broken... it was his mind. All those magika experiments to make him a super knight left him a shattered psychopath with far to much power for everyone else's good.

One thing I love about this scene is that both villain and heroine are Nihilists. Kefka, however, stopped at the "life is meaningless" part of the philosophy, and it drove him mad. Terra, on the other hand, realized that if life has no intrinsic meaning, that frees her to find meaning on her own, and she did. Her last words in this scene indicate that she knows that if she's not careful, she might fall victim to Kefka's despairing version of Nihilism some day.

Say he's insane all you want he still has a point. Also just like in Final Fantasy 6 you need to realize something he may be insane but some part of him might actually be trying to break free from his madness I mean if he purely believes in the stuff he says why does he even bother taking time to listen to the heroes for any reasons for the things they do? Just the same and Final Fantasy 6 towards the final boss fight, he actually took the time to listen to every one of the reasons they found for living.
