good stuff perfect explanation - thanks! - quick question other than slicing is there a method to lets say i want to cut a star in the middle of a cube and i want that cut to go through the other side? Ive been cutting 1 side and and extruding atm and dont know if thats the best way to go.

I think in that scenario, I might instead create a star shape and use Mesh > Booleans to cut the star shape out of the cube.

I have one question. When you change the bump2d node's Use as: Tangent Space Normals, it should require a input of RGB channels for Bump Value. However, the file node's Output Alpha port, as you said, is only a one channel greyscale output. How could that result a correct normal mapping?

I also tried connecting the file node to aiNormalMap node, which has RGB channels for input. And the rendering result is the same as bump2d. So that's why I said bump2d is still a correct normal mapping.

My teacher taught us to go to the hot key editor and put "center pivot" onto ctrl+1, "freeze transformations" to ctrl+2 and "delete all by type History" to ctrl+3. In my work fly I repeatedly ctrl+1+2+3, helped me completely side step this issue. Tho there's plenty of other issues that happen. At the moment whenever i create a brand new cube and move a face up or down it rotates. It's bizarre, no idea what to do, even tried restarting, there's no groups in my project either.

The default should be delete edge and vertices. Makes no sense the inconsistency between delete polygon forever and delete edge, but leave vertices. Stupid programmer logic

I hate this change SO much. how do you complete it? and mine looks different, both meshes are yellow and in wireframe mode, I don't see any change happening. This is what I hate about updating versions they change stuff and cause headaches trying to figure out why it's not doing what its supposed to.

Just a correction. The issue is not that the group is a non object, but in this case is working ok because the group is just a non deformed transform. Being visible or invisible has nothing to do. So if you were to scale that group non uniformily (lets say x 1, y 3, z, 5) and then rotate the door, you will still have the door deformed since the parent space is deformed. Bottom line, if you scale non uniformily the parent (being a geometry transform, or a group, or whatever), that transform is inherited by the child (but is only visible when you rotate the child)
