TRYING TO DO A HK G3 TRIGGER CONVERSION TO SEMI,NEED HELP?

If you go on HKpro.com there are great detailed pictures. It's not too hard. The biggest thing is cutting the section of the frame out where the hole for the auto sear pin goes. Other than that adding (welding in) a stop so the trigger can not travel too far.

The exact same thing happened to my Sig P365 after about 700 rounds. Sig wanted to charge me $55.00 to cover the cost of shipping the pistol back to them because it was more than two (2) years old. A local LE armorer fixed it for free. Won't buy another Sig product. Ever.

65 dollars for this vs 65 dollars for a cheap and also made in china mount on optics planet or similar. Hmm 🤔
@augerprecisionfirearms32472 ай бұрын
There is more than that. It's also about people possibly thinking they are buying a genuine item and getting scammed. For example if someone were to buy a fake on ebay and then try to resell it for much more they could scam someone. This video will hopefully help a would-be consumer be more educated to make a more informed purchase. Also there are decent made in USA mounts that are not terribly expensive if budget is a concern. I have a set of 34mm Talley rings that work great and are very inexpensive. I would buy good us made talley rings before helping scammers or people peddling fakes.

Wow, a lot of commenters who clearly don't understand intellectual property, manufacturing and don't own a business. Sure, go ahead, support shit from China. It may work, but it's made of chinesium, no warranty, doesn't support the sports and devalues the brand that actually took the time, money and energy to engineer the final product and bring it to market.

Rather buy a fake one than a real one that would just crack anyway
@augerprecisionfirearms32473 ай бұрын
My cracked real one is probably ten plus years old and failed do to my lack of using an inch lb torque wrench. The fake will fail sooner. Not to mention, Spuhr took care of and promptly sent me a new piece no questions asked. Plus if you can't afford a real one I would recommend buying something decent like a set of Talley rings (I use those as well on some rifles) instead of helping a thief steal intellectual property and give money to china at the same time. But that is just my opinion.

Is the thread diameter the same on both. So its just another way to make the manufacture the piece? If I have a commercial buffer tube and want to switch to a mil spec one, can I do that. There are just more options with mil spec.
@augerprecisionfirearms32473 ай бұрын
Yes both threads are the same. Different mfg process results in a different diameter where the stock slides on. Yes there are much more options with mil spec. All of your hardware like the end plate and castle nut will transfer over.

Abolish the ATF! Good video, but go harder if you wanna win people's hearts. The world has enough genericism and apoligism associated with the 2A scene, such that it's polluted the discussion of quality, performance, and use cases. Most people feel priced out of a fair rifle/carbine or whatever the ATF says they can't have without hoop-jumping. Few understand the functional differences as merely hitting a legality benchmark, which is an arbitrary market factor that has caused it to, well, suck.

An unbraked 375 H&H produces about twice the recoil of an unbraked 30-06. And historically, a 30-06's recoil has been about the maximum (or less) which battlefield rifles have been designed to produce; that is to provide a manageable weapon for most soldiers. So yeah, a 375 produces recoil which can hurt if poor form is used, or too many rounds fired. It isn't a caliber which an experienced shooter would want to shoot all day, either at the range or in the field. That said, with proper form, most normal males and some females should be able to handle its recoil without serious hurt or harm. It always helps to mitigate recoil by using an effective recoil pad, and one on the shoulder too. Accuracy, after all. Because the goal is to hit the target with as few shots as needed.
@augerprecisionfirearms32474 ай бұрын
Without the brake it likely would have been much more impressive.
@lenclayton11004 ай бұрын
wait till you move out to a futher distance the real difference in one brand to another at least for me starts showing up around 300 meters then by 500 meters I always a clear winner,right now about the best shooting 6mm bullet at least out of my barrel,Tom Jacobs his Vapor Trail 103 V-Tac he has another 103 6mm that he makes in house hand pulled but there is like a 9 month wait on those
@augerprecisionfirearms32474 ай бұрын
You may well have different results at further distance. According to some guy (I believe it was Bryan Litz???) who wrote a book and claims it doesn't change vs distance. I.E. a bullet that shoots 1 moa at 100 yards will do the same at 1,000 yards and so on and so on. Even with him writing that in his book, many people claim the same thing you are saying. I only have access to a 200 yd range on a regular basis. I do shoot some matches out to @ 550. The closest range for myself that is 1,000 yards is about 4 hours away, making it impossible to attend (I have a friend who is a member and have been trying to get a day to go there for several years). What I set out to see here was several things. 1 how much better more accuracy/precision will we see by using a "better" bullet vs. other brands of similar weight and style. 2 what are the differences in "better" bullets and do they equate to an increase in performance and if so how much. With these two brands I saw a difference of .011" avg groups size (at 100 yards and almost 1/4" at 200 yards. I have since tested two more brands and am editing a video of that and testing some 6.5mm bullets as well.

@augerprecisionfirearms32474 ай бұрын
First, I am not trying to duplicate what he has done, I am only setting out to show that shooting 1 moa is not a big deal and can be done by most with lots of different rifles. Second, In his first video he stated that, by the second one he was having people shoot ANYTHING and they were supposedly shooting 3"-4" groups with very expensive, heavy, high end rifles. That was what we don't believe was true. 1.5" from a 500 dollar savage with off the shelf ammo sure.

Some call it a clone even though it is made by colt. But it IS the most accurate rifle money can buy to have the exact one the military has (of course except for the giggle switch). But with a little clearance work and a RDAS it could be had.
@PolenarTactical4 ай бұрын
It you are trying to compare two things you should not change any variables in between - for example if you tried to show the difference in accuracy between the two stocks you should not change ammo or clean the gun. Any of these factors can have an effect on the accuracy but you probably know this already :D
@augerprecisionfirearms32474 ай бұрын
You are correct. But I was changing the one thing (the stock) and guns should always be clean. During cleaning I realized that the twist rate was not the best for 55gr. So there was no sense it continuing to put 55gr through it. Normally I would change just one variable at a time. Like with reloading. You start with charges, then move on to seating depth otherwise you can just end up chasing your tail.

I tend to not use phones as they are too cumbersome. I tried once and gave up quickly. I stick to the go pro with a mount from a website called phonescope.com They do also make them for a lot of phones. My issue is transferring the video is a pain on my phone, the chip in the camera is just easier.

I think the point of the Backfire challenge was the typical hunter taking their gun out of the safe after 2, 3 or 6 months, banging around in the truck and a different temp and density than the last time it was fired. I have a couple of sub MOA rifles, but hitting a 1" target cold bore after it sat for a month would be pure luck for one of them and a little better than 50/50 for the other.
@augerprecisionfirearms32475 ай бұрын
That wasn't what he set out to do though. His first video said average hunting rifle, then by the second attempt there really weren't any rules any more. At the second video people were shooting high end rifles with "4 inch groups". That was the part others and myself are calling BS. I don't care how like it sits in a case or a safe, the groups shouldn't be hard. That is also why for our little challenge it's two parts. The first being 5 shots cold bore IN the 1" target. The second part just being able to shoot a decent group. I believe most people can shoot 1 moa or better and that shooting 1 moa is really a realistic bar. I recently picked up a couple more "inexpensive hunting rifles" to try out Bloke On The Range's 1 moa challenge. We did his challenge with a rifle but it broke his rules but about a pound with the larger scope. Since I didn't have anything light enough, I found something and hopefully can get it out to the range soon.....but not in this 97 degree heat today.

@augerprecisionfirearms32475 ай бұрын
LE just means they are older. Colt switched to the CR prefix before CZ bought them. What makes this one desirable if the US PROP mark. Regardless of FN now having the contract, it isn't like a palmetto having a "us property" mark LOL. There are also a few key differences between a plain 6920 and an LE 6920.
@annahonorata9905 ай бұрын
Could you explain precisely what the rules are? 5 shots at both 100m and 200m? Any weight limits? position?
@augerprecisionfirearms32475 ай бұрын
Very simple. We put a 1" target at 100 yards. If they can out all 5 shots in the 1" target they get 50 bucks and a custom poker chip. If they can do it they are allowed to shoot at the 2" at 200 yards for another 50. If they don't put all 5 shots in the 1" target but it is still a 1 moa group or better, they still win a chip. We set the bar pretty low. Planning on more people doing it, but getting time at the range is the hardest part with the retail store.
@augerprecisionfirearms32475 ай бұрын
no limits or caliber, weight or positions. Our whole point of our challenge is to show most people can shoot 1 moa and that it isn't really a big deal. Heck if you saw the video of my 12 yr old son he just shot some groups UNDER half moa. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmLNqnZ-aruWmNU
I may be wrong but I believe Jim at backfire was looking for someone to shoot 1 MOA with a hunting rifle, nonetheless that young man can shoot! Great job dad!!!
@augerprecisionfirearms32475 ай бұрын
Yes he stated that in his first video but let anyone shoot pretty much anything. In his second part he had folks shooting several thousand dollar rigs etc.
@augerprecisionfirearms32475 ай бұрын
Our challenge is not limited. We are just showing how for the avg person 1 moa is very achievable so we let people shoot anything they want. We set the bar low to have fun. It's also worth noting we (and a lot of others) believe there was some sandbagging going on in Jim's video where people were shooting 3"-4" groups with VERY expensive rifles.
