I think it would be better to say it wouldn't fix the whole issue, but it would have almost certainly neutered Netanyahu's power games strategy. The appalling state of politics in the UK cry out for direct democracy. I doubt we will get it, the elites cannot lose any control. Yet, this must happen. However, this can only start with a reformation of the two party voting FPTP system that is now entirely exposed in the 2024 so called ‘results’. The chances of that happening are very low for the reasons stated. But, If direct democracy is to work, every vote must count. There are also currently far too many ways in which the political class can manipulate, i.e., they persistently say one thing and mean another and the ‘systems’ give them every opportunity to do this with no personal come back to them. Rory Stewart is exactly such a politician, despite what he wants people to believe, that’s not what he believes. Why would anyone trust him or any of them. The only solution is THEY must be utterly controlled by the electorate, not left to their own devices. We, the people, must now have due diligence control over those we elect and those who expend OUR wealth and so impact OUR country. The elites will not back down, and we the people are seeing this and beginning to mobilise differently, voting elsewhere. The fight is on. Yet, Hundreds of years of control and power are not going to be given away by the ruling elites. We are facing an immovable object being met by an unstoppable force.

I've been blogging about something similar... except I've suggested community panels and have even considered how we could fund it ( calling it the peoples fund) Perhaps we could swap notes at some stage... im from Kent and started this project as a result of being off work sick... after 28 years service ... im on the mend and would like to get really serious about these ideas... campaign for them.... we need really big changes if we are not only going to get back on our feet... but become successful again....
