I would also never chose a shotgun over an AR or other semi automatic rifle. If you make a tight shot or have your loved one in close proximity to the intruder… a well placed shot is much better than the spray of the buck shot… also you have at least 30 rounds for multiple intruders instead of about 6. For those who say use a slug… why not just have a rifle with more rounds and less kick?

Sorry but don’t agree with this. Staying in one room and defending your position doesn’t work for most who have children in seperate rooms they need to find and protect. Additionally, the late great Paul Harrell (has videos specifically about this) and many would disagree with navigating around a house with a long gun. A hand gun would be kept close to your chest around corners or until fired.

I agree with this video, but ultimately I run a PCC for home defense. It's kinda the total package for home defense, unless they're armored. They're very easy for smaller people to operate as well. And with that pistol brace nonsense being shot down, it's very easy to outfit them to an SBR-ish package.

The weapon you should select is the one you train with the most and have the most proficiency with. Most people don’t train with their shotguns because they see the recoil as unpleasant. They are much more likely to train with a handgun. So for many/most the shotgun is a poor choice.

I run a DP 12 bullpup with a custom 10 inch bayonet attachment and blinding light. Haven't got to test it yet but I keep it close just in case I get the chance

A hand-gun is vastly better than nothing. Plus it's convenient and loading it, i.e., shoving in a magazine, takes less than a second. A shotgun is something you're probably gonna have to fish out of a closet or gun safe, load with individual rounds, is less maneuveerable, and if you shoot it, you're gonna deafen yourself.

Best gun for home invasion or self defense would be the one that you would choose to use it under most awkward conditions you can think off cuzz everything about self defense is random and unexpected... Basically imagine your house is getting invaded, but you just gotten woken up in the middle of night ,maybe you happen to be a little hangover for some reason,it's dark everywhere,your hands from sudden rush of adrenaline shakes and yours accuracy and kickback control probably drops cuzz of it by like 80% ,you have no eye ear protection ,and ofcourse it's small room and your friend or family also is in the house,but you are not sure if they are still in their room... Now...based on this context what gun are you actually picking? Be honest now 😂 My point is that whenever most people picks a gun for self defense they basicly lowkey imagine that the conditions of the situation will be exactly the same as on average day in the gun range😅
