@11:40 you seriously cant be playing off that illegal no arms cleanout causing a long term injury to Esterhuizens knee. We need better referees and a TMO if players are allowed to get away with only a penalty after flying into a players knee without looking. Imagine if Esterhuizen was the one doing that to Jean-Luc, this would have been a public outrage for a big man to fly in like that.

Sacha obviously injured in upper body, but kicking well. Why didn’t Dobson let him kick all that points Manie missed. What’s the point of having a broken guy running hard lines at 12. Sacha needs to take a month off recover fully and gym to pick up weight. Then come back and Insist on playing 10 or go find a club where he can.

Is Dobbo ever going to learn or is he just dumb? Can’t believe he keeps letting Manie kick at poles when Sasha is playing. Lost URC QF with that stupidity and just keeps repeating it. The mind boggles…

Meh, not really an impressive win. With all the injuries the sharks had before and during the game, its quite impressive that they almost won it. They literally lost their centre pairing during the game and lost by 4. Well done sharkies

A coach that can't get Manie to set the ball in under 20 seconds, shouldn't be his coach. As pathethic as Manie is at kicking, I partly blame the coaching staff. The most irritating thing, and for sure part of Manie's problems, is this shadowing of the kicking coach, like Manie is a bloody child who needs his hand to be held by a parent through difficult times. Get those irritating little things right and Manie will be alright.

If you want to see proper worldclass flyhalf class rugby, watch Leicester v Quins match. Both Pollard and Marcus playing all round very good matches, kick passes, running, passes, feeding backlines, etc... and, btw, they 'also' both convert 4 tries and 2 penalty kicks, some tough kicks among them, even more so the last minute conversion by Pollard, to draw the match, big bmt stuff once again. This Manie hoax project must really be buried once and for all, trying to hype the poor man into something he clearly is not, as if he is the only 10 in the world or SA rugby that can create tries or get his backline moving. Nonsense, both Marcus and Pollard did it with ease...and, o yea... they can kick 'also', the stuff good flyhalves should do!? 🤔😉 Send Sacha to Bulls, Dobbo is wasting him at 12 or 15, with his selecting struggling Manie at 10.👌💪

I am a Lions fan, thought I would watch this game for being a local derby. but got so fustrated and upset with the match officials. Not a nice team this Stormers, Libbok was losing the game for the Stormers, not winning it. Any other team and they would have lost. Only a poor Sharks performance and officials let them win. With Libbok you don"t get any scorebord pressure. One can hear you are a die-hard Sormers fan

I dunno bro I was at the game. Can't hear what the officials say, only see the arm signals to understand why the penalty was awarded. Most of the time I had seen the offence myself, so the call wasn't a surprise. I'll watch the game on TV tomorrow so I can see that perspective as well. But let's not forget stormers had 3 tries disallowed as well hey

Hi Harry ! I prefer SFM only at 10 or 15 which suit his skills set better. Du Plessis looks compose at 12 every time he plays there. The 4 tries could not go to better candidates. Du Plessis for butchering 2 other tries; Senatla and Fourie coming back from injuries and Manie for being Manie + his late no try at the Shark tank. Please can SFM kick to goal.

when I was in high school a former springbok came around and taught us how to pass in both directions for a session. the whole rugby program was there, all ages, and everyone got better at their passing because of that session. i think it was Mark Andrews that came through that day, still remember that drill to build the passing motion up from one hand to both hands, one finger at a time.

Following up on my cmments on handling, I think that SA backs in general can throw beautiful long flat passes. In fact it is tghese opasses that are admired the most. It is not a good idea to try this under severe pressure though! Many SA kids are not taught to pass at shoulder height and how to place the hands to receive the b all so as to be able to pass very quickly, and then there is repitition. KIwi kids soimplu practice passing wheneverthey are stnding around. You can never practice passwing enough. I actually think the AB's passing improves under poressure at the end of games,. They are concentrating better when they have to score. think improvement should sart right at the begining with school coaches teaching the correct mechanics and instilling a belief in the need to praactice handling as much as possible. I coach players from the beginning so I am not sure how easy it is to cure the problems with pros but I suspect that under pressure players may reverty to whatr they grew up doing.

From what I understand, it can most certainly be coached and become almost automatic, which is what we should be aiming for

I grew up in SA in the 39's and moved to yhe US in the 60's. I coached rugb y here and enjoyed an Austgralian connectionb so that I became a huge fan of Randwick and the Wallaby style of rugb y. I was a Spimgbook fanatic and have spent 50 years noting how the Springboks handling skillls are frankly poor. In particu;lar, as you point out, they pass too low under stress conditions and in general their passes ar etoo hard. Thank you for raising it, I wondered if it were my imagination. But, if I ask "What is the most striking difference between the ABs and the Bokke, what jumps pout is how much beter the NZ hadling is when the game gets tight. There are a couple of points worth notinbg thatg I will put forth in a comment obn how to coach itbased on my own observations. I thoroughly enjpy your program and it gives me a chanve to maintain my Afrikaans.

The All Blacks realised that their passing skills were poor before the 2015 world cup. They then went back to basics and improved their passing skills, which then gave them more time with ball in hand and decision making. Their ability to pass on the wrong foot was the big difference.

The other ongoing related issue is the short delay or short step or half step which our scrum halves seem to employ before they pass, thereby passing pressure down the line.

SO pleased MW raised this issue of basic handling skills amongst the SA teams including the Boks. Astonishing the various SA coaches (including Rassie!) do not focus on this fundamental issue. Watching the Japanese league this past weekend, they are streets ahead of us. As are of course are the Irish, French and ABs to name a few. Thanks guys; world of valuable info shared by Andre here. This series of videos should be made into a coaching compendium, they are that rich in detail!

Guys, the Bulls’ basic skills are poor whether wet or dry. Basic skills is a highly technical skill to teach and learn. You will pick up a lot of basic skill errors with international players every week, especially going into contact.

I'm so happy I've discovered this podcast. To be honest I was a little skeptical about the purpose/direction of the channel, listening to an 'American dude' talking about the Bokke or URC... but, (this was just before the word cup) I think after the first minute of listening, any doubts I had swiftly made way to me being completely enthralled by Harry's incredible mind. He's poetic and philosophical and incredibly gifted orator with truly deep understanding and passion for the game. Thanks for doing such great work guys, it's such a fresh analytical take , compared to the vast amount of rugby pundits. Keep it up and Merry Christmas
