Greetings from California - used to love listening to John Robbie on 702 when I still lived in Joburg in the 90’s! Love John’s insight into Rugby and games.

Another fascinating ‘rugby’ discussion in every sense; what incredible powers of recollection John brings to these chats. Wonderful entertainment, thanks guys! Also a great entree to the Ireland v Aus game this weekend with the coaches’ backgrounds & friendship, but I’m sure, sharp rivalry as well.

MV thank you for this wonderful interview. John Robbie is a superb raconteur. Toe hy dit oordrae het O’ Reilly vir my ń boodskappie gestuur dat “ it was nice of you to remember that great tour”. Verskoon asseblief my Afrikaans maar ek woon al 45 jare in Australie

Thanks for sharing @megafoon well worth a listen.believe it or not in 1980 the springboks v lions 4 tests were shown here in New Zealand live free to air.John Robbie was a very fast running halfback who had very good passing game too.the soringboks had a brilliant halfback Divan Serfontein

Loved this show as always. MW the State of Origin between the New South Wales Blues and the Queensland Maroons is huge in Ozz. Its rugby league and is often referred to as "Australian sport's greatest rivalry". And it really is something that attracts interest throughout Ozz. The Wallaby's have had several players of note switching codes. And then of course the best known player (up to now) switching codes has been Sonny William Williams. Enjoy the break. Love your work.

A really very interesting conversation on the rugby game , both league & union . John has the gift of the gab his memory is phoenomal but being an Irish man & not shouting for Ireland is a tad hard to take . Then again making a living in South Africa , you could make an excuse for it . I did not agree that the Irish team are or were arrogrant , or showed it in any way . We Irish always about for the underdog in sporting matters . In my opinion we give credit where credit is due . Having got that off my chest this interview was excellent viewing , top class

Hi guys, Glad most are enjoying our chats. I was the biggest Ireland supporter ever and playing for them was a dream. However after living in and loving the new SA one day I was watching a test between the Boks and Ireland and realised I was up for the Boks. It was not an intellectual decision but an emotional one. I can add nothing more than that as it is the honest truth. Ireland remain my second favourite side and I am thrilled at the improvements since my days long ago.

@megafoonsport26 күн бұрын
@@RRYanSpencer Ek sal bietjie uitvind! John het juis gepraat oor Green Vigo in hierdie video.

Hi Ryan, I loved reading and learning about Green Vigo. What a player he must have been! How many other Green Vigos, or for that matter, Cheslin Kolbes or Ox Nches, never got to play internationally for SA. Thanks for watching Ryan.

@ Hi John. Look up Goolam Abed, Vernon Peterson, David Barends etc. Find a paper written by Hendrik Snyders from Oct 2010 to start.
