Oh wow…I never realised you’re also energy-impaired! All this time I followed you but because I have pretty severe fatigue and brain fog issues, I’m often bedbound, I always told myself ‘well, ofc she is successful, she is healthy!’…honestly it’s nice to see more disability at the front of businesses tbh, thank you! ❤️❤️❤️ you’re amazing

This video was shot and edited last week before it went up today, and this past week & weekend I mostly took off of work because I was struggling with a ton of anxiety and low energy, so I feel you! It takes a lot of work to figure out exactly how to structure your life in a way that fits your energy levels, but what you normally see is me at my best and not me at my worst 🫠😅 I’ll see if I can make a video sometime soon on what a normal week in my life looks like!

@@KelseyRodriguez Honestly that would be INSANELY helpful! 😍 I only got the chronic fatigue when I was your age and 3 years later now I’m just barely used to navigating it, it’s super disheartening to see many content creators be ‘their best’ because I mostly see the world through social media now and it’s punching me in the stomach how ‘I could never be like them, why even try?’, you know? There aren’t enough examples of a slow life while accommodating chronic, unpredictable conditions, that aren’t focused exclusively on disability advocacy. Thank you again for all you do! ❤️❤️❤️

I've taken a lot of art and art business courses. I'm a pretty dedicated student but still fail often in the implementation phase. I'll watch the videos, do the behind the scenes work but when it comes to outreach/marketing/actually starting I put it off. What I've realised is that I'm just not ready yet, I'm not confident in my art making, my capacity for creativity or my identity as a professional artist. I'm currently planning that 2025 is going to be a year of focused art making and learning, of really making so much art that I'll feel comfortable in my abilities. All this is to say, i think the way to get great rates of success with your courses is to make sure your students are at the right stage for it. Whatever you're hoping to teach i think you need to have some clear pre-requisites for the students so you'll know they're ready and able. That's my two cents worth. ❤

I’m also with artist with chronic illness and energy issues. I’m always adjusting to make sure I’m not using too many of my spoons. I am currently teaching art classes to a student one on one and I love it because I love teaching. But specifically, I love helping people get obstacles out of the way and get started on something. It gives a new dimension to my own work. I think everyone has to find the thing that they can keep showing up for consistently. That is different for each person. Adjustments are always being made.

This concept of making art about art is super viable and strikes to the core of what art is. Art is taking time to exist and observe. And process and feel! It’s the act of connection to life. Something capitalism disincentivizes. So amplifying one’s practice is putting a magnifying glass on that process is a way for others, even non painters to ‘feel’ like an artist for a bit.

1:58 That's kind of insane to say a person doesn't run a business because they're "doing it wrong" by working too much. You may see hours working for yourself and hours working for a company as equivalent but they couldn't be farther apart.
@KelseyRodriguez2 ай бұрын
I think this isn't an insane take? If you need to work 80 hours a week to stay afloat and you can't take any time off, something's up and you should troubleshoot that. I say this as someone that has overworked myself before! Sometimes you need to do it to grow and get off the ground, but if this is the status quo and a thing that you're doing every week, there's an issue there because your body can only handle so much of that
@mysteryswordstudios2 ай бұрын
@@KelseyRodriguez I understand where you're coming from, but it feels a bit like kicking someone while they're down to imply that one shouldn't even consider themselves a business owner if they don't have an arbitrary "work life balance." In the end the division of me time and "business time" is completely arbitrary...and some people would rather work themselves to death than live a life that is "stable" but mentally kills them every day. Is either version of life ideal? No. But it should at least be respected as much as choosing to work a typical 9 to 5. Anyway I think your points are valid, it was just that one line that bothered me. I agree no one should work themselves to an unsustainable degree.
