Thank you again, also you didn't say anything about that new sexy exhaust tip. I think it changed the sound just a little bit also, it sounds good.
@UncleVoodoo2 ай бұрын
Thanks!!!! I'm usually not one to go for purely decorative items, and while I really do like peashooter exhausts... I didn't think the peashooter matched the aesthetic of the bike. Peashooters are more of a 60s Brit bike item and fishtails were used as db killers for board track racers. To me this bike looks like something post board track - pre WW2, so a fishtail just seemed to belong on it.

Thank you sir. Tooling around the backroads In Southern Az, I've only had to hit the reserve on my Halcyon 250 one time. That was at 92 miles, just as I was rolling into a gas station...

Excellent video! You definitely “took one for the team” at 26 deg! I find the same or similar with mine, except later this last summer I added the Janus windshield to my H250, and wow! What a game changer, the biggest issue I had was getting hit with bugs, though it helps reduce fatigue extensively on a long trip, and also shields from the rain pelts, as I have an open face arrangement with my headgear. I like to cruise at 60, and I can go about 120-ish miles between gas stops, I always carry extra gas onboard just in case I need it to get to the next fill up.
@UncleVoodooАй бұрын
Ive always wanted to like windshields but never got along with them. I do like the look of the Janus windshield though. Ive just gotten to where I enjoy being out in the clean air,.. and spitting out a bug every now and then as my regular helmet is open faced as well.

Appreciate the fuel test, Uncle. Apparently Jabo wasn't foolish enough to join you. He was probably sitting in YOUR easy chair smoking when you got back from your test. Those numbers are huge at 78-79 mpg. Looked like you were dressed to go snowmobiling. Slick outerwear you got there. We are still riding daily here in Vegas, but once it stay's below 50°...thats my cut-off point unless I have a drum lesson and God knows I am not walking 4 miles. We have irrigation here everywhere and sliding on ice from a leaking system is not my idea of fun. The Harley's and Rice burners lined up separately on Saturday. I wish I could include pictures of the ride out here. Ride Safe and warm!

Around here winter usually consists of temps from 20 to 40* and a lot of freezing rain. We do get some snow but it normally doesn't stick around for more than a week or so. Jobu couldn't make it this time because he had an appointment at the nail salon!

This was very interesting. It would probably be good for all of us to dial in these range number on our bikes. I have already bought two of those fuel bottles. My Honda CRF300 Rally gets about 70+ mpg. My KLR650 gets at least 55mpg. My Triumph Scrambler 1200 gets who knows. I haven’t tested it yet, but it only has a four gallon tank.

Also remember that winter blend fuel doesn't produce as much power as summer blend fuel so your gas mileage will be lower in the winter.

I admire your dedication to establishing the fuel range of the Janus 250. It’s not just 26F, there’s also the windchill of toodling along at highway speeds. Horses for courses and a Janus 250 is probably a poor choice for touring even if it’s a handsome bike.
@UncleVoodoo2 ай бұрын
I'm one of those people who don't like to make things too easy for myself,.. I find touring on the "wrong" bike to be part of the adventure of it. Blocking the wind is my strategy for riding in the cold and having to keep my scarf pulled down for filming froze my face! The rest of me was pretty good and if you look.. at the end of the ride part where I said I was heading home to warm up - there is a pair of mittens on the picnic table, I was testing those on this trip as well. They did fantastic as for as keeping my hands warm but were just too cumbersome to recommend riding with them.

@@UncleVoodoo Filming is difficult. It takes me twice as long or more to get ready to ride when I decide to capture something for YT. You're at least able to get out and ride. My winter has made roads icy and dangerous. Just getting the bike out of the garage would be risky. Have you considered heated gear to extend your riding season?
@UncleVoodoo2 ай бұрын
Ive tried heated gloves but wasn't fond of them, if you look at 7:30 there is a pair of mittens on the table I was testing out (Giv"r Frontier mittens). Those are the best cold weather gloves Ive found as far as keeping my hands warm- BUT, they are very cumbersome and difficult to ride in.

You think it may do better in warmer temps, say 60+ degrees? I have a 2012 Suzuki Vstrom DL650 ABS. [5.3 gal tank] Average 60 MPG in 60+ degree Temps giving me a range of about 265 mi. I also have a 2021 Kawaski Versys x300. [4.5 gal tank] Over all average with it is 80 MPG. Giving me a range of 280 Mi. Not including reserve on either bike. I've noticed in cold temps say below 40 the average milage starts to drop. Not tremdous amount, but enought to be noticable. This is with rider only.
@UncleVoodoo2 ай бұрын
The air is more dense in the cold so EFI will compensate for it by burning a little more fuel (ie- rich). With a carb'd bike like mine you're supposed to rejet for the cold (40-50* temp drop) so you do end up using more fuel.
