You like that fiddly "fully articulated screen"??? A photographer? Why? Can't you turn up the lcd while shooting? Flash or no flash, it should have some option to make it usable?

DPREVIEW has an agenda about CANON. Since, many years ago, conon stopped giving them free Cameras they decided to support other brands and have been swinging news about how bad Canon is. Similar story with the Tony&Chelsea Northrop channel.

There's photographers out there selling the original R5 for $2,000 ~ 2,200 . Compared to the $4,500 including tax that you'll need to fork out for the R5ii it makes the original a huge bargain.

The best feature of the EOS R5 ii is the impact it did to the EOS R5 used market. Retail EOS R5 ii is 5900 CAD + tax Used EOS R5 is 2500 CAD. Likely grab a USED R5 if I was switching systems.

I work for an armored car company so I know all about keeping your head on a swivel lol. When I'm doing photo sessions, I always have my concealed carry on me. A couple years ago I was doing an engagement session and there was 3 guys standing around, probably in their late teens or early twenties. Pretty much the same as you, they were just watching me. I finished up some of the photos and one of the 3 guys asked me to see the images. So I showed him without removing my camera from my Cotton Carrier G2 harness. I'm convinced if I would have removed it, he would have tried running away with it. Another incident that I had was 10/6/23. I'm also an independent professional wrestler and was on my way to one of my shows. I always take my camera gear with me to record my matches, do promo photos, etc. but this particular day I didn't. I asked my girlfriend to just record my match on her phone. I got about 10 minutes from the venue and my car started smoking. I thought it was just a belt or something so I pulled over into a parking lot. The smoke then turned into a fire. By the time I called 911 my car was fully engulfed in flames. I thank God that I didn't take my camera bag with me that day. Another photographer that I follow mentioned this on his channel and he has one on all of his camera bodies. Yes, the penalty for all suckers of speed and video futures are less dynamic range and more noise, specially at ISO 400

Fact, that this camera is nowhere near to older DSLR, which were made in Japapan, it´s made in Thailand with not that great robustnes as the older cameras is deal breaker for me...other than that, solid camera :)

You should check out the Ricoh GRiii line. They’ve also been able to stick IBIS as well as ND filter in a body half the size of the X100VI. I’m still torn between keeping my V and upgrading to the VI though… trying to justify spending the extra few hundreds essentially for an added IBIS and new 40Mp upgrade

My biggest problem with the R5 is heating up in just 5 minutes of shooting slow mo videos, then I wait for 5 minutes while its in a freezer

Seems to me mkii has sharper cleaner images with better tones and better blacks. I dunno, it looks like so from video. I do have ne r5mkii, im satisfied, but already had 2 fails, 1 one timelapse, it just blocked and i could not turn it off until i took battery out. And same day i had it overheated within 10min on 4k 25p, clog2. Quite dissapointed with that 2 fails, but overall, i love the camera but not trusting it anymore! Hope some update will make it flawless.

Is the bigger viewfinder a major difference? I own an R6, and i wish i had a bigger and higher resolution viewfinder. So i think that would be a good upgrade for me.

Im retired for a year. Been a nikon user for 40 plus years. LOVE the Z8. Im tempted to downsize. Sell my photo gear and get the X2D. Is this a dumb idea?

Love your Golf R, I have a 20th Anniversary in Blue! Thanks for the great, straight forward evaluation. I have the R5II and love it. Pre-shoot and focus preset/return are awesome for wildlife. I'm kind of surprised more reviewers aren't talking about the in-camera focus preset/return.

Used R5 is the best deal in mirrorless right now. In NYC, people are selling them for less than $1400 which seems nuts

As a wildlife photographer the R5 II is a solid upgrade! And I agree, the image quality seems to be more crisp

The R5ii has some cool capabilities. That said for 95% of my Shooting those capabilities don’t even come to play. If I were primarily a sports shooter it might be worth considering, but as a mainly landscape shooter, I am happy with my R5 and have no plans to upgrade in the near future. Now someday when the R5iii comes out that might be a different story. We will see.

I’ve had the original R5 since just after it came out. I have never had any complaints about the photo side of the camera, the sensor and the images I get out of it are absolutely up to and beyond my expectations. But the video side has always been a letdown. If there’s the tiniest of trade offs on the photo side in order to get all of the things the mark II has on the video side, I am 1000% okay with that and will be upgrading for the video improvements alone!

Looking at Canon's mirrorless lenses, the camera doesn't matter, because the RF lenses suck and there are too few. And who wants to adapt heavy old glass with adapters to a new camera? Really ?

Cool video! It's nice to see developments in terms of filming and presentation of material. The following questions arose while watching: 1) I thought that noise reduction does not affect RAW. Isn't that right? 2) Regarding on-camera flash and exposure. In the settings you can set the “turn off flash” function on the fn button. Doesn't this help in your case? (I rarely shoot with flash, but this seemed to work on my EOS R, although I could be wrong)

Nobody really underexposes by 3 stop so I think that the dynamic range blabbing is pretty irrelevant. Yes it may be a little noisier but even for pixel peepers like me it's pretty laughable.
