The Scalps and Stormshadows I think are pre-programmed on the ground, the plane is just the launch platform, needs to give electrical power but no integration with its systems took place. But yea, pretty complicated indeed. DCS version when? ☺

IWSM! It's on WT Live. They are to a large degree sounds from DCS I found, for example the RWRs, but its better than the default sounds.

To install the current version now, you can check their Discord discord.gg/nHmUzh5nuJ Its in the announcement channel. The new version (v8) is to be released "soon"

PDV is Pulse Doppler Velocity, is PD but instead of using vertical as Range, is Velocity of the target (Closure rate) the "Clutter" is the Doppler filter which means the enemy is inside the closure rate that the radar doesnt see/filters as ground clutter, and it does have IFF but is Bugged like everything gaijin does

To reiterate the modes: -> PD HDN = Main mode for Semi Active Radar missiles (R27, Sedjil, Aim7), only one single target track, can be notched -> SRC = Can be used with any missile, and in any orientation of the enemy, but prone to chaffing and ground clutter confusion, less prone to notching -> TWS HDN= Main mode for Fakour/Phoenix as explained from 21:57, can be notched -> PDV HDN = No IFF, not really being used in the F14, shows how quickly a plane is approaching

I agree with your sentiment on the BR decompression and changes for RWR detecting PD. Although alternative solutions are possible, like giving the SPO15 to the ML and M series. Overall, I think it's a good change. We should fly red forces sometime!

Just fyi, planes of this era have constant speed propellers no matter your throttle. Its the propeller pitch angle that adjusts automattically depending on RPM. The sound changes due to your engine RPM not propeller speed.

If you're a beginner with planes I highly encourage you to NOT start with any high tier jet. You likely cant recognize plane shapes, don't know the quirks of radar, don't know about the strenghts and weaknesses of you and your opponents, and can't read the game (this comes from a sim player's perspective, but still applies in part to RB). Don't fall for Gaijins top tier oriented marketing. Learn the ropes with props and early jets. If you're not interested in earlier planes and want to play sim nonetheless, try DCS and you can have a Mig 29 for 7 bucks straight away atm.

High tier prem planes are a bad idea unless you're good enough with jets to consider yourself competitive. Buy premium vehicles when you are able to research a vehicle of the same rank, I bought the MiG-23ML after I started researching the MiG-21SMT (and finished the whole US air tree but still), that way you'll experience most of the tree and still be able to get through the much harder higher tiers. Premium time is a must too. IMO the only USSR prem worth buying is the MiG-23ML (discounted) and it's only because of the huge amount of rp required to research high tiers. For USA, the most appearent candidates are the F4-S and the F-5C. F-5C is better unless you're a dirty bomber. Sweden has the SAAB J35XS which is an abomination but it's like an F-5 with more negatives. Still kinda solid France has the Mirage F1C-200 which has very good IR missiles. Don't play Germany air Don't play UK air Don't play Japan air Don't play China air Don't play Italy air Don't play Israel air And don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. You can live without CAS.

@@SinsFate Its supposed to take ages. Its a "free 2 play" game, you're supposed to grind your way through the ranks. I personally never saw it as "grind" in a literal sense though. I pick my planes that I have fun with and play them, the research is a side effect. Thats the most healthy way of seeing it. If you constantly chase the bones that Gaijin throws you, you just leave the fun on the table.

I think that's kinda pointless since a) everyone has a different taste, so filters etc. automatically are all subjective, and b) everyone has a different PC, so it depends on your performance. Do you want SSAA on or off? Do you want osft particles high or low? Do you want DLSS on or off? Can you even make use of DLSS? Just as examples. You see, copying another person's game settings doesnt make sense really :)

I learned recently that the left side bar of the HUD shows you optimal range for the r77. If the arrow is between the the top and middle block I believe it shows the missile will hit its target during terminal phase (when the missile no longer is providing its own thrust, I may have the term wrong) and if it’s between the bottom two blocks it will hit during boost phase. When firing offensively it helps a lot. Any idea if that is accurate? Great video btw!

I think the haze in the mountain/see screen shot is a quite an accurate representation of how the air is in Korea, at least in the summertime. It's not super clear like North America most of the time. I quite like the scenery screen shot.

True, when I'm in China I see the same thing, but in the game it's not a representation of reality, it's an engine limitation. You could have the clearest day, and it couldn't be done in the old Rise of Flight engine. I was among the first who flew in Battle of Stalingrad in 2014 and was a loud critic of their engine choice, back then it was already 5 years old. Now, or rather in 2025, the engine will be SIXTEEN years old, no other recent game or sim does that. It's like Falcon 5.0 would come out with Falcon BMS graphics. Keep in mind, these screenshots are of course cherry picked. It's literally the *best* the engine can do. In your average game situation and on any non 4K screen this will look worse. The whole problem is not just about beauty though, the biggest flaw of IL2 since 2014 was spotting. I really, really hope they can fix that.

I like the Tornado itself as well, but the better choice would have been the Marinefliefer version. At least that thing is somewhat special with its anti shipping missiles. And completely for free would have been the Tornado ADV from Italy. 8 missiles. When the Max BR is 11.7 the thing can be really strong now. Don't wanna cause buyers remorse dont worry, enjoy your plane man. Its just that there would have been better alternatives for a Tornado fan.

Hi, i wanna share something i learnt from playing DCS which should already be in war thunder as well, its about the HUD of the Su27s and Mig29s when you have someone in a radar lock, you can see on the left bar (left line that runs pretty much the entire height of the hud) you can see 3 little boxes and the arrow, so all of that indicates if the missile is launched now what is the POK (probability of kill) so basically you have 2 boxes on the lower end of that line that close together, and if you have the arrow in between those two boxes that indicates that if you launch the missile at that moment you would have the highest POK. And if the arrow is not between the bottom two boxes , the launch will less likely result in a kill. However waiting so long can get u killed. I didn't fly the western jets, though i do think that the F16 and F15 have that, i am not sure if it was a Circle on the hud that shrinks or was it something else.

Way back there was a flight sim called MiG Alley (IIRC). Before that was Sabre Ace, so unless I've missed some this will get us to all of 3 dedicated Korean War sims in nearly 30 years.
