It's sad. I used to be like this after high school. Hopelessly lost in the sense that I would strike gold one day with one my ideas and become very wealthy. When the covid lockdown happened 5 or so years later, I saw that my life didn't change in the slightest. I was inside wasting the days behind a screen with little more than pennies in my account that were being put towards cigarettes or booze. The hardest part for me was to change my mindset and conquer the fear of failure and rejection or start putting more effort in to helping other people. I have God to thank for that. Now, I'm starting the new year with a good job and a house to move in to. Life's a game, you don't win if you don't play. 🤟

The depressing thing here is how many things are simply no individual's fault and have been caused by the system as a whole: - Wanting to avoid school clubs because the school environment is so unbearable, many would choose to do "Anything else" - Thinking education is pointless, because there is a genuine mismatch between what you learn in school and what you do as an adult. At best, school teaches you how to learn. This is compounded when successful people talk about their lack of education. - Teachers and parents just telling struggling kids that they're going to fail, rather than saying anything useful. Most would agree that if your boss said "You simply suck" that'd be unhelpful - so why is this the norm? - Kids are not properly taught how to manage their mental health. Hell they're barely taught how to keep their physical health in check. And once your mental health is wacko, it's pretty hard to recover without the skills required to even identify there is a problem in the first place. I'm not claiming this has nothing to do with the NEET and their parents, it does, but when almost all kids have those 4 issues it's not a surprise some end up like this. I'm not a NEET, but I'd certainly be a few years further in life If I was taught how to identify mental health conditions, as I was living with an undiagnosed form of neurodivergence until I impulsively destroyed my career. Actually, I could've moved out by now had I not done that.

I was a NEET for 5 years, the first year felt great cuz i had plenty of time to be on My PC playing with some Friends but there's a moment when You don't feel happy anymore, You can SEE that You rely on your parents and can't go anywhere You want or Buy something You want cuz You don't have a job, in My case My father had a mechanic garage and had a good income, so he provided me with money, money that he thought it was ok for a week, every sunday he gave me money for the week, so i had in My mind it was ok that i didn't have to look for a job, was one of the worst things i thought in My life, i had this "it's ok it only Will be a year, next year a Will Apply for a job" but that's it's a lie, when the year has passed i said the same things over an over again, and then in a sudden after 4 years and a half, My father wasn't getting the same income cuz he had a problem with one of his big customer, they decided that they not gonna work with Him anymore cuz they said they needed to pay less for their fleet maintenance and so our economy wasn't in the same as before, we had to cut some of the luxuries we had cuz our economy wasn't good in that moment, he couldn't gave me the same amount he gave me per week as before and there was a Lot of problems, in that time i felt useless cuz i wanted to help My father but i wasted 4 and a half years of My life, the worst i didnt want to get a job because i didn't want lo leave that lifestyle and we had a Lot of difficulties, then he couldn't pay the internet, My PC got damaged and couldn't afford to Buy another one with the same Specs, it was a terrible time it was one of My darkest christmas, i felt so god damn useless and so sad cuz sometimes i saw My friends happy with good Jobs and doing their Best in their life, My neighbors celebrating the christmas with their family happy, and i couldn't Say the same cuz My father was in a Bad time and SO i was, i felt like i was a Bad son for him like if i failed him cuz i couldn't help him, then i was looking for any job i could take, i'm january somebody called me from one of the Jobs i applied and thanks to god i got the job, My father improved in his business cuz he did a spectacular job to a friend of him, he repaired his friend taxi and he took a photo of it, somebody saw that he did a spectacular job cuz the car was in Bad state and then it looked like nothing happened like if it was a new car, so somebody from coca cola company saw the before and after of that taxi and talked to My father if they can get to a deal to give maintenance to their fleet, Now i'm 33 years old i got a better job and have a Lot of things in My mind to do in My life i have a plan to put a business, and i sure i don't want to be a NEET anymore, i wasted 5 years of My life that was when i was 20 years old, i Will never let My dad alone, he is a great Maybe we are not i'm the same economy as before but we are ok and always doing our Best to improve everyday

ive been a neet for like 10 months now cause thats when i lost my main hobby (working out) after realizing that the past 3 years were useless at progressing me as a person financially and only purpose was so people would stop calling me skinny cause it made me insecure i was 200 pounds at 6,5 and started when i was 16 at 6,3 130 pounds i gained 70 pounds in the span of 2 years then realized nobody really gave a fuck when i got my first job and women still rejected me its funny you get a hobby then nobody cares i probley wouldnt have started working out if people didnt not care about my first hobby gaming and if every person i was forced to be around for 8 hours a day at school didnt constantly call me skinny and unmotivated just cause i didnt wanna be some football/basketball star or something that fit their agenda but being a neet is peaceful when you dont have people who constantly call you out for your lazy and unmotivated actions i just want a calm lil life where people let me be myself in my room and they can keep trying to climb this rigged system if they want but leave me out cause the mountain is too tall
