Hey guys, awesome video...loved it. We're about to hit the Camino in over a month and were keen on getting the right socks. I've checked the Danish Endurance socks and wanted to know what % merino wool do you typically buy for your socks. Many thanks and keep up the great work.

Hi, thank you for this beautiful video! Do you think it is necessary to book rooms at end september and beginning october?
@StingyNomads
@StingyNomads 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment. October is a popular time for walking the Rota Vicentina. I'd suggest booking rooms in advance in smaller towns and villages. In bigger towns e.g. Sagres, Lagos you'll find accommodation without advanced booking. Good luck

Any advice to get to the Spiritual Variant from some point in Central Route before Spain, then continue on to Santiago? Thanks.
@StingyNomads
@StingyNomads 4 ай бұрын
You can take a bus to Pontevedra from most places on the Central Route. The Spiritual Variant starts 3 km past Pontevedra, the easiest way is to walk there from the town.

Loved this! Which route would you choose for first timers... Portuguese interior route from Tui or from Sarria? 2 friends walking in our 60's.
@StingyNomads
@StingyNomads 4 ай бұрын
I like the route from Tui more maybe because it's less busy than the Camino from Sarria. It depends on when you walk as well. If in the peak season then the Camino from Tui is better (fewer people). If you walk offseason it's better to do the Sarria route because it has more accommodation options that stay open during winter.

thanks for your explanations and video. I will start my camino on the 1st of June and my route of choice will be the litoral until Vila do Conde. I will try to start very early in the morning to avoid the sun. I hope also to avoid the wind that normally shows up in the afternoon.

The Coastal Route goes inland till Vila do Conde. The Litoral Way goes along the Douro River and then along the coast. Please, don't mislead people if you don't possess the correct information. There are official route markers and signs. I walked all the routes myself and know what I'm talking about. Buen Camino

Thanks so much for this great video explaining the 3 different routes out of Porto! It's a little confusing when the Coastal route basically goes inland, and the Litoral is actually the one that goes along the coast, so thanks for clarifying that...most helpful! Would you say one could hike the Litoral in May without having reservations, but still find a guest house or hotel the same day?
@StingyNomads
@StingyNomads 4 ай бұрын
Glad it was helpful! May is one of the most popular months to walk the Camino. It might be difficult to find well-priced private rooms in smaller towns along the coast. If you don't mind staying in dormitories sometimes (in case you can't find private) then you don't have to book. If you prefer hotels I'd suggest checking in advance. In bigger towns you should be able to find a place on a day but in small towns it might be better to book in advance as there are limited options. Buen Camino

So you walked the Litoral way from Porto in May 2023? I ask as I am trying to plan my first Camino & 1st Portuguese Camino independently from here in Sydney Australia. So I’m wondering is it better to walk in Mid June or July🤔 Thanks for suggestions and advice.
@StingyNomads
@StingyNomads 5 ай бұрын
Yes, I walked the Litoral Way end of May. I'd say June is overall a better month to visit Europe. July and August are the hottest and the busiest months here. Along the Coastal Route hotels and guesthouses get expensive and fully booked albergues will be your best option.
