Thank you so much for sharing your journey! I enjoyed it very much. We are planning a trip in late Sept. Early Oct 2022. Hoping Covid will have calmed down, maybe even dissipated enough for all places on The Way to be open and welcoming!

Hi! Thanks for sharing the Sarria route. Is it always require to have two stamps per day for the last 100 km of any Camino route?
@StingyNomads
@StingyNomads 4 жыл бұрын
yes, for any Camino route you walk you suppose to get two stamps per day for the last 100km. We didn't do it when we walked other Caminos and were able to get our Compostelas but from what I've heard they do ask two stamps if you walk the Camino Frances.

Hi! Many people want to stay at Seminario Mayor after arriving in Santiago and there are not that many cheap rooms there. I thought it would be unfair if I occupy the room for several days it's more of an experience than a cheap place to stay. I moved to a small pension next to the cathedral Pension Residencia Fonseca it had only a few rooms, very cosy and nice place. You can find more details and a booking link at the end of this post stingynomads.com/camino-frances-sarria-santiago-walk

Hi, Dave! How are you doing? We both have Garmin Fenix 5 GPS watches. We use them a lot for hiking, walking, running and even swimming. There is a newer model Fenix 6. It has all the same functions (distance, time, elevation, calories, heart rate, etc.) plus a couple of new features. You can download GPS maps of different routes and use them for hiking which is great is you do a hike that is not well-marked. It gives you your oxygen level which is quite nice to know when you hike high in the mountains. None of these two is really necessary for the Camino.

Loved this! Which route would you choose for first timers... Portuguese interior route from Tui or from Sarria? 2 friends walking in our 60's.
@StingyNomads
@StingyNomads 3 ай бұрын
I like the route from Tui more maybe because it's less busy than the Camino from Sarria. It depends on when you walk as well. If in the peak season then the Camino from Tui is better (fewer people). If you walk offseason it's better to do the Sarria route because it has more accommodation options that stay open during winter.

Hi. Would this part of the way be suitable for a 4year old? I mean, some walking and then a stroller?
@StingyNomads

Hi. Most of the route is on a pretty smooth gravel road I think it's possible to walk it with a stroller, there are many restaurants and hotels along the Camino finding accommodation or stopping for food won't be a problem.

I just received my Camino Passport today. I'm planning on walking the Camino de Santiago from Sarria, but my only question is where do I start? Do I just arrive at Sarria and get my first stamp at a church or what? I'm a little lost when it comes to this.
@StingyNomads
@StingyNomads Жыл бұрын
Hello. You arrive in Sarria and if you want to get a stamp there you can do so at a municipal albergue or Church of Santa Marina or some other churches in the town. Sarria is al about the Camino. There will be hundreds of pilgrims you want get lost. You can get stamps pretty much at every bar, cafe, or restaurant along the route. Every time you stop for a coffee you can get a stamp. Every albergue or hotel you stay can stamp your Credential. As well as every church along the route. Don't worry you'll figure it out. The Camino route goes out of Sarria past the Church of San Salvador on the street you'll see yellow shells and arrow that you follow. Buen Camino

@colinmcmahon9193

What is a 'real pilgrim? and what gives you the right to judge? Many do not have the time or resources to make the 'full walk' as you call it from St.Jean. I've made the walk from St.Jean twice, from Sarria once and the del Norte. I've learnt that that some can walk 779km and learn nothing . I wish you well and safe on the way but I would implore you to reconsider your thoughts on what constitutes a pilgrim and pilgrimage.
