I sold to Plato's closet for the first time about a month ago and was SHOCKED when they offered me $178 for around 50 items. These were my bottom tier inventory that I had gotten for free and have been sitting in my Posh closet for the last 3 years, I was so glad to see them go! I decided to purge more. We have a Style Encore currently buying to open up a new store and I took them 9 boxes/totes of my stale inventory. They paid me $978! $978?!?!?!?! I'm still not over it haha and am currently downsizing my closet once again because why wouldn't I? I will absolutely be adding buy/sell/trade stores to my regular business practices!

I have hundreds of beautiful purses I have taken them in and was shocked the horrible offers for my Michael Kors ,Coaches ,Kate Spades , I wish I could find a reseller in Southern California that could just buy them all As I am 84 and do not get out so they just sit here .

What do you do with the items that Plato’s doesn’t take?

Isn't it great how easy it is to connect even from far away! I think getting more for less work is a normally progression in business. Would love my ASP to be 100 but I can't source enough stuff at that price point, but I am leaving more and more behind because it won't sell for enough (still making mistakes). Also there is always going to be a percentage of things I pick up because I really want to even if it's not the best business decision. Melissa, a reseller I know has started a wholesale resale thing, it might work for you if you want to check it out, since you're on pause with Flyp right now. I know you do the shopping and then sell lots to resellers, but don't know the details. Let me know if you want that info, if you haven't seen it yet.

I just question the “going straight to Plato’s” from the bins. Is that literal? I’m wondering about whether you launder the items first.

Hi this is useful. But IMO Thredup: Charges too much for shipping (14.99) to them; and return to you. Thredup has a "preferred" list of brands and you should go to find those brands first before sending in your garments. Also the estimator is helpful. I always always lose money sending things into Thredup. I'm in the negative with them. I only send in items that I'm already losing money on and would probably donate. But I use Thredup very in-frequently. Sometimes it's better to give your items to a consignor than TU.
