I was just jackpotting that tournament. Had 4 fish for about 7lbs at noon on the first day and my house (cranking & electronics) batteries went dead. 2 of my 4 fish started rolling over. Lost the rest of the day’s fishing. Threw my fish back so they wouldn’t die and skipped out on the 2nd day. There were some limbs down and a blown out pool screen at my house from Milton. So, I drove home to take care of that.

@ I have two 100 AH lithiums on the house side. They’ll run all my graphs, FFS and 360 all day, but throwing livewell pumps into the mix it too much. Livewell pumps use more amperage than the graphs do. I actually need at least 300 AH for all of that.

Litium batteries have been around for a while now. How stupid can boat manufacturers be that they do not design new boats with the ability to use lithium batteries without having to add extra weight?
@ChuckPippinBassFishing19 күн бұрын
It would be stupid to do that. There are a greater number of people using AGM and/or non-lithium batteries. You can always add weight to a lithium setup, but you can’t take weight out of AGM’s

Hey Chuck, your “how to” videos are the best. E.g. I love your vid on lipless rattletraps. I have two that I haven’t used in 50 years. I can’t wait to fish them using your ideas. I’m trying to learn how to find submerged Hydrilla. I have a Mega 360 & Helix 10. From your vid I think if I see a black area on the view, it could be submerged Hydrilla. I can rip a diving crankbait thru the black area, if it’s Hydrilla it’ll show up on the hooks. Will Hydrilla always show on Mega 360 as a black area?
@ChuckPippinBassFishing26 күн бұрын
Thanks. I appreciate that. Throwing a lipless crank bait will sure help you find that submerged hydrilla.

I'm new to baitcasting and the daiwa instructions say to always cast with the handle facing towards the sky. It's basically saying to twist your pole a quarter turn counterclockwise, and cast like that. They're saying that if you cast normally the retrieve handle can engage and mess the clutch up. Have you heard of this?
@ChuckPippinBassFishing26 күн бұрын
With most bait casters, that can happen if you make a hard cast and your tension knob is too loose. I don’t think you really need to turn the handle towards the sky.

When I was a teenager, I had a spinning reel that had a little handle on it, so that when you wound the handle backwards, it would come to the top, and when you extended your index finger to pick up the line, you pulled that lever and it opened the bail. I have no idea what this feature is called, and I can't find a single spinning reel in any tackle store, fishing equipment store, or sporting goods store anywhere that has this function.
