Are these PPT / TDC / EDC Limit settings the same for the 5800X3D or any AM4 CPU across the board or should I set these to Auto and just change the PBO to -30

I have this on my new g16 rog strix 13980hx 4080 12gb runs pants :( 2 grand laptop is as good as a door stop 😢😢 found no way of fixing this either 😢😢

The problem can very well be the E cores on the intel prosessor. windows sceduling is not working well for games. Try disabling the E cores and run your games from the preformance cores only. this worked for me.

@@timodejong6849 thanks for the info still playing up only fix at the moment is to limit fixed rate to 125 fps and disabled all dllss and use amd 3.0 or super that seems to work other then that if not custom refresh is set it stutters again with those settings too don't make any sense lol

Now after months I finally had the idea to deactivate HAGS (Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling) and I couldn't believe my eyes. Everything runs incredibly smooth and the micro stutters are gone.

This is not just laptops. Playing with a 4080 recently after using a 7900 XTX I noticed loads of microstutters in games that were not present on the AMD card. I think it is to do with the new power sensing in the connector as it tries to be efficient in delivery, the card can not draw the power it needs. Put my xtx back in and smooth again. I will be sticking with AMD for now.

5700x here, without pbo2 and PBO, have 13800 in R23, with PBO2 -20 all cores, 14300. Then with PBO activated (and 125 W instead of 77 habitually) 15500 in R29, but cpu goes up to 88 degrees. What should I do to limit the cpu? Cooler is a dark rock 4

I had 4060 laptop since last year, at first i thought the intel hybrid cpu caused the stutter but i was wrong. I try to run the game while monitor cpu PL1/PL2 and thermal throttling, even when the cpu throttling wasn't there the game I run still have micro freeze/stutter. I try to blame the game, but then notice it occur on all games i played 🤣 in the end I notice the gpu usage drops when the frametime spikes which cause the stutter and now here I am found this video and wondering when it will ever be fixed...

4070 laptop owner here, it isn’t fixed yet. It doesn’t occur on all games, but it’s frustrating to spend so much on a laptop and not being able to play smoothly 50% of new games. I tried every possible method and nothing worked. If someone finds a solution Please let me know 😭

@@JustifiedJuice what games are giving you troubles? For me it’s totally random. Today I bought Horizon forbidden west and it runs absolutely perfect. Meanwhile, a game like Lies of P (which is waaay less demanding than horizon) runs like shit

@@PETERGREENDAY100 sorry for late reply Also just like you it depends on the game. games like titan fall 2, doom eternal, rise of the tomb raider, honkai star rail and hitman 3 runs perfectly without any stutters but games like elden ring and genshin impact is giving me some occasional stutters (i think it's because of the optimisation issue because elden ring developers said that they are still fixing the issues) and there is cod warzone which runs absolutely shit on my laptop.

It's been 2 years since this video was released. I worked as a technician and got to work with rog 5 phone. The daughter board for rog 5 at the bottom have a flex connector in the middle for the fingerprint sensor, sim card, vibrator and probably power since it is connected to the bottom usb. When the device were dropped or pressed on that spot the flex cable will disconnect. At first it will be a minor issues such as sim card or fingerprint sensor or vibrator not working but later will worsen and causing the power circuit to short out killing the phone. If the phone is used to play games with the 65w charger plugged in the heat will be too much and causing the solder joint on SOC to melt. This problem is quite simple to solve by just sending it for a SOC reball.

You don't just reball a shorted SoC and itll magicially work. The issue with SoC desoldering from boards are more common in warmer areas such as SEA. The flex cable disconnecting or tearing usually is the cause for fingerprint and sim card not working. Much like the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, the SoC itself has some serious issues where it likes to kill the connectivity part. The phone is nothing short of a disaster and due to the fact it flexes as easily as it does, the cables get loose.

@@danishblunt9698 yes the reballing parts is only for those SOC that got de-soldered. Have been using ROG 5s since released. Never play it while it is charging and immediately reconnect the bottom flex cable when it got disconnected and put a thick soft black tape on it to held in place. I have to admit a gaming phone that were only usable while it is not plugged in just defeat it's purpose. Might consider black shark or Lenovo 2 duel since the cooling on both is far superior. ROG phone durability is garbage too since it flexes easily.

So I followed everything you did. My 5800X3D won't go above 3.5Ghz. yesterday when it arrived before using PBO2 it stayed at 4.450 Ghz. Can anyone help me, please?? I've been trying to fix this for hours now, to no avail.. I got everything updated to the latest drivers. Edit: I fixed this issue by going back to default Bios settings, only setting my XMP, PTC, TDC, EDC, Curve Optimiser -30 and didn't touch anything else! I'm boosting to 4450 Mhz, don't go above 81-82C, power draw of 112, and ended with a Cinebench score of 832.

rtx 4000 is a joke on laptops. 4070 in particular is a joke. Desktop 4070 rarely goes above 180w and when limited to 140w, barely loses any perf. So, desktop 4070 put into laptops with 140w TDP would've been 30-40% faster with 50% more vram. YET, this didn't happen. Why? So nvidia could sell you a glorified, voltage limited 4060ti for xx70 prices. 1070 and 2070/super were the same chip as desktop versions and performed similarly. 3070ti mobile was also close to the desktop 3070ti despite being a 3070 desktop chip. Big youtubers give complete crap advice. And still don't raise issue with nvidia lowering the TDP from 200w to 175w, etc.

The same here with my MSI RTX 4070 for Desktop. Even if i'm running games like 10 years old (ex: Dying Light) I got too much stutters. When you see benchmarks, the card is comparable to a 3080 TI, but in practise it does not runs smooth..I've tried installing Windows 11 from scratch and installing the most recent video drivers and nothing changes. I don't know why this happens and don't know what to do anymore.

I Solved it by installing nvidia 531.61 driver version. It seems to be a problem with newer drivers.

I thought it may also be the lower power limit of laptops like the ROG Z13, but I don't think it is. It's probably the memory bus width, or simply something novel to this 4000 series of which we are unaware. In a live stream reviewing the Aorus 7 4060 laptop (100w GPU), GizmoTechSlip mentioned it when testing a few games. That's the only time its been mentioned by a mainstream reviewer. He didn't know what caused it. I'm tempted to go for a 3080ti laptop from 2022, they're the same price now as a 4060 from this last year... or could wait for 5000 series only to find they still have this major issues. I hate stuttering, it ruins the games.

I still think it's due to powerlimit and borked vBIOS that probably isnt going to get fixed. If it was only due to memory bus, why would RTX 4090 notebooks also stutter? It's a mess.

@@danishblunt9698 I'd like to find out for sure before I buy any new laptop. Others online think it may be an intel CPU problem with combination of P-cores and E-cores messing things up. Maybe see if it occurs on AMD CPU laptops like Asus G14 and Razer Blade 14 which just have a 'straight-8' core setup.

Hey man I'm not sure what to do I have the Ryzen 7 5800x and my idle temps are at 90 degrees and load temps at 90. I downloaded AMD master and changed some settings and lowered my idle to 55 degrees but in game 80+ I than changed my max throttle limit to 75 in the bios and it seems to be working but i still idle at 75 and full load at 75. For some reason FIFA makes my pc go nuts and sound like a jet and has my fans spinning like crazy and sounds loud and makes my case feel really warm especially by the motherboard but im at 75 degrees. Ive asked some people and they say its the cooling but im not sure.

High idle temps are caused by improper installation of your CPU cooler here are the most common reasons: - you forgot to remove the sticker on the bottom of your cooler - Not enough thermal paste - Lack of thermal paste - Not enough mounting presure. Often people are to scared to properly screw the cooler in as they think they will break something. If you have a proper cooler, it has springs around the screw which prevent you from overtightening it, meaning if your screws have those springs around it, just tighten it until you can't tighten further, they are calibrated to stop at the optimal pressure for your CPU.

@@danishblunt9698 I tried that i reinstalled it with more thermal paste i put a little bit more than a pea sized after cleaning off the old and even screwed down the cooler until it wouldn't let me anymore. I use the stock cooler from my old cpu the ryzen 5 3600 its the wraith cooler and thats how i installed my old processor with no problem so im honestly not sure what else to do

@@danishblunt9698 There is an issue with the 5000 series being very hot. Stock are 3.8ghz but amd makes you run them at over 4ghz out of the box and causes high temps.

Recently bought a rtx 4060 laptop. It has some unexplained constant framerate spike every 3 to 4 seconds interval and happens for every game or gpu involved applications. It fixes when i sign out and sign in again but occurs again after 30 or 40 mins of gaming. Have a 30 series laptop which has frametime smooth as butter. This one i bought from Amazon and they are not accepting the return of the laptop. Now I'm stuck with it.

When I did this my clock speed is stuck at 0.46Ghz. Anyone know what could cause this? It went back to normal after I reverted everything. Could try going back and forth to see what is working and not but would be easy if someone could give some pointers first. I just want to lower my temps. Running like 85 degrees when playing. Gpu a bit cooler but cpu is 85

Do you have any recommendations for a 5950x with a noctua NH-D15 with process lasso being used on the first ccd for my games, unsure if I’m unnecessary using to high of power limits. PPT 130 TDC 95 EDC 120, 1x scalar to avoid deg, and -150 boost override to avoid boosting to 5.1ghz and my pc bsod every 5 seconds. Games like battlefield 2042 are like low 80c’s which I’m a bit confused about was expecting that to be lower unless I’m doing something wrong

That's lower temp in cinebench but not in games like bf1 bfV So to fix that you need to underclock to 4.4ghz i hate that cpu really bad cpu
