I think you may mean my title cards that appear as I begin a new topic. I no longer do this in my 2025 videos.
@making-thingsКүн бұрын
I rewatched this entire video and I get it. I did a poor job of pausing my actions, showing the title card, and then picking back up where I left off. In one scenario, I think I skipped over an action while the title card is being shown. Thanks for the critique, you'll be happy to know I'm not using full screen title cards anymore, just a side rail indicator of which topic I am covering.

I failed to mention that the "On Gizmo" checkbox is needed to Add a primitive to the Gizmo location. You will find this checkbox at the top of the "Add" menu, the same menu where the Primitives are shown. At the very top of this menu, above the Primitives label, make sure "On Gizmo" is checked. Sorry for overlooking that important and necessary step.

The "add Primitive" (10:38) section is what I'm having trouble with. I select the objet ( with gizmo selected) I want to have the new Primitive to align with but it keeps popping up in the world position. Love this video btw! Thx!

Is there a way to change the default matcap? Like when I start a new project, to have the matcap I like the most and not have to change it every time I start ?
@making-things4 күн бұрын
@@ShinjiBabel Love the question. I may have to make a video on this for my beginner course. The answer is yes you can repeatedly use the same Matcap with every new project. Go to Project Menu (Folder Icon) and tap New. In the popup dialogue, there will be a Reset section where you can uncheck “Matcap”, meaning you will no longer reset the currently selected Matcap every time you open a new file.

Thanks for the video! Just what I was looking for. Just a few more questions. How would you line up/mate those squares face to face and or corner to corner? How would you line up 2 cylinders to be concentric? Is there a way to get the area of an object? I’m getting better with your tips, thank you.
@making-things5 күн бұрын
@@carbonguyFor corner to corner alignment, if two objects have a corner pivot, you can rotate and face those pivots, and then type the same X and Y Translation values nor both objects. You can also use an Array Repeater which can be found in the Scene menu under primitives. Repeaters are a good solution to aligning objects next to one another. Hopefully we’ll get a Snap to Objects option one day. For concentric cylinders, I would also recommend repeaters. If you use a repeater, it can be validated and broken into separate pieces when you are ready.
@making-things5 күн бұрын
@ProcreateFX This way is also simple and more versatile. I’ve tried the masking method. It works well if your mesh is dense but is less effective when you reduce the topology. I often lower the resolution to achieve different shapes and this wouldn't be useful in those situations and more importantly, you can't do the making pivot trick on invalidated objects. You would have to validate to use that method. So I much prefer this as an all-around option that works in all scenarios, not just validated ones.
@ProcreateFX5 күн бұрын
Why dense mesh? On the contrary, I use the masking method mainly with low poly objects, because it is very easy to mask 1 vertex with low poly objects. I know of no more effective method than masking 1 corner vertex of any low poly object to place the pivot. Yes, validation is necessary, but I always use a validated cube with division 0, so it doesn't matter if it is validated or not, you just change the shape with the gizmo. Is there any other unvalidated primitive besides the cube / plane where you can use your method - does it also work for a cylinder with division 5, for example ? Of course, everyone can use their preferred method, as long as they achieve their goal. Greetings and thank you
@making-things5 күн бұрын
Yes it works with any object. I don’t disagree the masking method works. I have used it myself. These are just two ways of doing it and it’s okay that we do things differently. I just don’t choose to use that way in certain situations. I often work with invalidated objects especially when I use the tube tool. So I need to move the pivot with invalidated objects quite often.
@making-things5 күн бұрын
The important thing is that users have options. I am happy to recommend the masking technique as well.
@FoxPriestStudio5 күн бұрын
So by default when you bring in a cube or sphere then go open gizmo then gizmo settings you can see scale functions. By default they are 1.0 uniform. You can change those values. By observing the values you can apply the same technique in the video. And for many initially created primitives the values reflect pseudo size. Units in Nomad are theoretically undefined. But the Initial cube and sphere are equal to 1.0 millimeter if exported to a precise modeler like Blender.
@making-things5 күн бұрын
If I am understanding this correctly, you nailed it. Nomad Sculpt uses millimeters as its default unit, so the sphere is essentially a 1mm cube as well.
@ProcreateFX5 күн бұрын
Quite simply. Mask 1 corner vertex - invert the mask. Activate the gizmo -> so you get every exact pivot position in corners. Then you can use PIN and the new Paste option for the pivot to fix the pivot when you delete the mask.
