As a former makeup and hair artist in L.A. i cant count how many times i had to replace mua and hair stylists that didnt know how to do non straight hair or didnt bother to have a deep range of colors in their makeup kits - even when the client requested a black artist. unfortunately i had to school young models not to expect to see artists that knew what they were doing and that many times the hair person especially would cover themselves by complaining about the talent being difficult. So so infuriating.

If we just wore out hair from jump we wouldn’t worry about being judged. Afros are natural. WE KNOW THIS. Had we the confidence to FVCK WHAT PEOPLE THOUGHT it would already be embedded into the country! But we STAY trying to please others! ONLY BLACK PEOPLE have to think about stupid stuff like that!!OUR HAIR DEFIES GRAVITY! Face it. That’s INTIMIDATING and curious. And we right along with it! “Yesum I’m gone put on dat hair so I don’t scare the whites🙄”. It’s us! STAND UP!!!! Laughing at a judge with an Afro is ignorant! It’s giving people pleasing. And to use the lame excuse about variety (that’s why some claim to wear wigs)??? C‘’mom sun! WE ARE THE KINGS AND QUEENS OF ROCKING NATURAL VARIETY! Stop it already 😑 I know I’ll get push back but as you can see, i don’t give a crap! I love EVERYTHING ABOUT BEING BLACK🖤”All day nucca!”👊🏾

Now I see why MJ is so beautiful! "I'm a divine feminine girl". That truly resonates with me. She has an inherent love/respect for femininity which is why she is able to embody it so well and be so magnetic/beautiful. No disrespect but I can only think of a handful of trans women who I really can say this about. Genuinely gorgeous, soft, magnetic, feminine, etc.

2:01 according to me and I can only talk for myself, my identity is like facet it’s multiple, and run through different pipes and I think most people are complex and multifaceted, it’s Less of changing and more of adopting/developing new personality of our identity, it’s all All new side and phases of our identity and are still part of us. To quote the iconic Chaka khan “I’m every woman”, “it’s all in me”. Even if we change And gain new identity it doesn’t negate our old one. I think it’s all part of our identity catalogs. We are not monolithic beings, we are polymathic , I don’t think your old identity Vanish into thin air. Yes we constantly are changing , it’s sign of our Maturity but there’s bits and grits of it in us and is still part of us. In summary we shuffle and play the right personality for a certain social setting, to maneuver in life’s through its obstacles and challenges.
